Not at all. It says that if my perseverance is perfect then I am complete and lacking in nothing. No hidden meaning. I just persevere to perfection and I need nothing else. I’m complete. The same way that 2 Tim 3 16-17 says that Scripture leaves you complete and lacking in nothing. But I don’t know which is more important because either way I’m complete and lacking in nothing.
Is it possible to learn patience from reading the Word of God?
Is it possible to be complete without having to learn about patience through trials?
I think the passage is saying:
trials teach patience, so accept trials with joy
but it doesn’t say that the only way to learn patience is through trials.
So it is possible to learn patience from reading the Word isn’t it?

It does. I quoted the Acts that the Apostle break bread on the first day of the week which is a Sunday.

In the early days, the Mass was commonly call the breaking of the bread.

**On the first day of the week 3 when we gathered to break bread, Paul spoke to them because he was going to leave on the next day, and he kept on speaking until midnight. ** Acts 20:7

**On the first day of the week each of you should set aside and save whatever one can afford, so that collections will not be going on when I come. **1 Cor 16:2 (In the Mass, we the faith offer collections just in the Epistles of Paul.)

**Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of a holy day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. **Col 2:16-17 (Paul teaches that the Sabbath was only a shadow of what was fulfilled in Christ).

**Therefore, brothers, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught, either by an oral statement or by a letter of ours. **2 Thess 2:15 (Paul teaches hold fast to the traditions that you were taught, either by an oral statement or letters, which is clearly stated in his Epistles. This include Sunday worship).

**For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not speak later of another day. So then, there remains a sabbath rest for the people of God; **Hebrew 4:8-9

For when there is a change in the priesthood, there is necessarily a change in the law as well. Hebrew 7:12

**“I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet.” **Rev 1:10 John specifically points out that he witnesses the heavenly Eucharistic liturgy on Sunday, the Lord’s day, the new day of rest in Christ

And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it.
19: I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. ((whatever the Church binds on earth is bound in heaven. Since the resurrection, Mass has been principally celebrated on Sunday. )) Matthew 16:18-19

Out of curiousity, I take it you no longer worship the Lord on Sunday?
I worship the Lord every day!
Twice on Sunday.

How do you feel if you miss Sunday service?
I DON"T feel like I am going to hell or need to repent.
I feel like I missed something but not that I have mortally sinned.
Sometimes I feel like I let my pastor down because we have such a small church and he knows when I am not there.
I did miss the Sunday eve service on Superbowl Sunday.
I made the morning service and told my pastor I was having people over for the game. He understood. He is a fan himself.
I don’t think
I sinned against God though.

newbie1234:
How about we take out a few of the words:
Scripture is used to make the man of God complete.
My nkjv uses the word ‘complete.’
My point is that I can use the scripture alone to be complete.
If YOU cannot be complete without your tradition, that is you, not me.
Alrgiht, so your translation says:

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

Fine, let’s examine the sentence. The passage says that using scripture makes one complete. Does that mean that it’s sufficient.

Let’s suppose that you got a nice LEGO kit for Christmas. You open it and immediately start building the model. However your little brother comes and “steals” one piece that is essential for finishing your work. Once you realize this you say: “I need that last peace to make the work complete.” Does that mean that that one single piece will actually be the complete work? Or does it mean that that one peace is only a part that makes the model complete?

So, think about it again. In all honesty, don’t you think you’re reading more than it’s there? Does the passage say that may will be complete with Bible or that Bible is the only thing needed to be complete?
There could be other things, but there doesn’t have to be other things.
Just because you need sacred tradition, doesn’t mean I need sacred tradition. I can be complete using scripture alone. Of course I use other things such as fellowship, and prayer, to make me complete.
Well, you are right, the passage doesn’t say that there is Sacred Tradition but the language clearly suggests that there is something else. That Scripture is like the last piece to the puzzle.

Now, Newbie, please read THIS article and tell me what you think.

OK you use tradition, works, bible, sacrements, rosaries, statues, relics, papacy, etc,
I will use my bible.
That link was ten pages long. I did glance at it.
A little wordy. Do you have anything a little more concise?

I come here to learn.
I know you will never be able to see my way of thinking.
And I assure you that as long as I stay grounded in biblical truth, I will not pray to Mary or saints, I will not believe the assumption or immaculate conception, and I will not kneel in front of a statue among other things.
Then you have my sorrow and my prayers.

How you can walk away from the whole Communion of Saints, who are part of the Body of Christ, is very sad, my friend.

So heaven is off limits to those who can’t read?

I don’t even know what the communion of saints means.
I pray to God the Father Almighty, Jesus His Son, and The Holy Spirit.
I don’t need to pray to St Francis or Mary for my salvation.

Fine. You have freewill and so in the end it’s your own choice. I can only tell you that you’re doing the wrong thing or we can discuss which one is right and which one is wrong. It’s up to you whether you like to discuss those things but it doesn’t seem so. I presented you with an argument and you haven’t been able to refute it but only say something that more less sounds like: fine, have it your own way.

Well, it’s long because it has a lot to say. As I already suggested, it’s up to you whether you want to search for the truth. I presented you with an article and it’s now your turn to read it or not.

You are in my prayers.

It’s Latin which you can google online to find the English in the text.

I announce to you a great joy. We have a Pope.
The most reverend newbie.

Pope newbie…

Now… do you consider your intrepretation of the Bible infallible?

You are in my prayers.
He is an Ex-Catholic, as most Ex-Catholics, they are the most stubborn X-Catholics know to men… they won’t be convince…

Heaven is open to anyone who will repent and accept Jesus as there Lord and Savior. Amen
It doesn’t matter whether they can read or not.
If someone can’t read. or afford a Bible, then how are they to know who Jesus is or accept Him as their Savior?

But how do you accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour if you can’t read the Bible? Because someone tells you? Well, and what if that person misinterprets the Bible and gives you the wrong information?

And by the way, all I need is to accept Jesus as the Lord? Do you truly believe that? Because if that’s true I guess that tomorrow I might just rob a bank. After all, as far as I understand, I accepted Jesus as my Saviour so I don’t need to worry. I’ll have fun in this life and then I believe that Jesus will save me.

Now consider that I can’t read the Bible to realize that you are wrong. Am I condemned?
