I don’t even know what the communion of saints means.
I pray to God the Father Almighty, Jesus His Son, and The Holy Spirit.
I don’t need to pray to St Francis or Mary for my salvation.
Newbie, if you are holy and righteous you are part of the Body of Christ, right?

So do you leave the Body of Christ when you die and go to heaven, or are you still a part of the Body of Christ.

The communion of saints is simply the Body of Christ that are have won the race.

Is it possible to learn patience from reading the Word of God?
Is it possible to be complete without having to learn about patience through trials?
I think the passage is saying:
trials teach patience, so accept trials with joy
but** it doesn’t say that the only way to learn patience is through trials.**
So it is possible to learn patience from reading the Word isn’t it?
Just like it doesn’t say that the only way know God’s revelation is through Scripture in 2 Tim 3:16-17.So it is possible to learn revelation through the Church that Christ founded isn’t it? Thank you for confirming Catholic teaching. God Bless…🙂

Of course it is possible to learn biblical revelation from the church. Or from anyone else.
The problem comes when the church gives it’s own revelation that is inconsistent with the bible.
Immaculate Conception

I’ve been baptized 3 times. Once in the river Jordan!
Jesus instructed the Apostles, “Baptize them, in the Name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.”

If we are not baptized them we are disobeying Jesus Christ order.

It’s Latin which you can google online to find the English in the text.

I announce to you a great joy. We have a Pope.
The most reverend newbie.

Pope newbie…

Now… do you consider your intrepretation of the Bible infallible?
Ephesians 4:11 mentions apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. It doesn’t mention popes. Therefore I do not follow popes nor claim to be one.

Ephesians 4:12 says people in the body of Christ are saints when they are alive and in ministry.
I don’t recall any passages that say that to become a saint a person has to be dead and the church has to approve that they performed three miracles when they were alive. Another chirch tradition with no biblical foundation.

The Church does not teach that you become a saint when you die, or perform miracles. The Church teaches that we are all saints, just like the Bible tells us in Ephesians 4:12.
What you are referring to is the Church acknowledging that it can know with certainty that some Christians who have died are in heaven because of those reasons you had mentioned. Yes we call These people Saints with a capital ‘S’, but that doesn’t mean that all Christians are not saints.
Please, if you are going to argue against what the Church teaches, make sure it is actually what the Church teaches, and not something you mistakenly think the Church teaches.

We believe in the communion of Saints, that is all the Christians who are here on earth, in Purgatory, and in Heaven, are all in a spiritual communion.
You can see this taught in Hebrews 12:1-2 & Revelation 7:9-12

No where does it say that missing mass is a mortal sin. That is church tradition.
I beg your pardon…Hebrews 10:25: not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

Sorry my bad. So we are all saints, but to be a SAint we have to have 3 bonafide miracles?

That’s not what the Catholic Church teaches either. (How was it knocking the stuffing out of that straw man? 😉 )

The Catholic Church doesn’t differ with the Word of God on that issue and you are dead wrong if you allege as much. 🙂

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Whack that straw man Newbie!

There is a big difference between the canonization of a saint (which is public recognition of their holy life) and what you are beating up on.

So Heb10:25 states that if I miss mass on a Sunday I will not get into Heaven?
I don’t get that after reading that verse.

, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. It doesn’t mention popes. Therefore I do not follow popes nor claim to be one.Nice try…But since “pope” is just a title for the chief bishop, you’d be dead wrong again, especially since bishops are mentioned in the New Testament.

A bad idea to try to use a single passage as your allegation support Newbie…(especially with me around. 😃 )

So you figure that the day that our Lord rose from the dead is not a worthy day for believers to me in place of the sabbath that we ceased to meet on in the first century?

And since the other commandments still define sin…why would the 3rd one cease to apply?

Especially where there are several passages in the NT that specifically say that the church met on Sunday?

Immaculate Conception
But this has been discussed before and it is there in the Greek test of the passage in Luke. the fact that you do not like it or accept it does not invalidate the fact.

Immaculate Conception and Assumption.

The Church uses those criteria so that it can publicly state that the person in question is indeed in heaven.
If you died and it could be proven that there were 3 miracles performed as a direct intercession of you, then you would stand a chance of the Church believing that yes, indeed you are in heaven, there is a lot more to this process though.

I know that you probably will be there anyways, because you are a committed Christian, but for the Church to declare publicly this fact with certainty, it would require those types of things.

Again it is not making these people divine or anything like that, it is just an official declaration that the Church believes that the person is in heaven.

And since we do believe that they are definitely in heaven, then we pray to them, so they will hand our prayers to Jesus, just like is mentioned in the book of Revelation.
I know that you probably believe that they are asleep until the final resurrection, but we catholic don’t believe that. We believe that the people in heaven right now are more alive that we are.

The sabbath is no longer in effect.
We have freedom in Christ to worship any day we wish.
But no where does it say that if we miss mass one week, we will not get into heaven.

I’ve been baptized 3 times
. Once in the river Jordan! There’s nothing anywhere in the Word of God that even remotely justifies this. Please explain why you adhered to an unscriptural teaching of men? 🙂

Never said it was…but even St. Paul tells us that the law is there to convict us of sin.

Yep…we Catholics can go to Mass every single day (twice a day in fact to receive the Eucharist!), but I don’t see n-Cs doing anything like that.

If you enter eternity with an unconfessed and unrepentant grave sin in your life after having “got saved” sometime in the past, will you still enter heaven Newbie?
