Or it could be that what he means when he says socialist is different than what the Church is talking about when it condemns socialism.
Conservatives are cautious about socialist creep. Steven Crowder recently noted some interesting things on the democratic socialism activism movement’s homepage.

What I can say is that Cuban or USSR style socialism is something that a lot of these young people who support Sanders would reject on the surface because they don’t the White House, federal courts or Congress running Facebook, itunes, instagram, Android or Apple.

I’m not sure if true blue foreign socialists under this, but “socialism” to some people means that they get more “free” stuff from the government and is just an excuse to hangout and ironically SELL T-shirts and papers on college campuses.

In the democratic primary, voters don’t have to rationalize about his position on abortion because it is no different than Hillary’s position. So the question remains, could a Catholic vote for Bernie in the primary? Since he has not espoused any economic viewpoints that violate Church teaching on socialism, then I cannot see a barrier for voting for him in a primary.
:ehh:

Abortion? Marriage? Religious Freedom?

Well not originally but hmm yes I guess you could say that. I sometimes see a truck with 2 confederate flags and 1 American flag and have been tempted to ask if the store ran out of US ones. But in this day and age, I never know if I might get shot.
What would you do if your state seceded because Bernie got elected?

I don’t see a clearcut definition of socialism. IMHO, different people mean different things when they use the word socialism.

I haven’t even given that a second’s thought. I actually think former SoS Hillary Clinton is most likely at this point of all the candidates on either side to be elected President of the United States by the American people (with the possible exception of Kasich if he somehow snatched the Republican nomination) and that there will not be any states seceding regardless of whether Hillary or Bernie were elected.

What is it with you and secession?

Why should/would the US let any state secede?

Secession would imply seizure of all federal lands and buildings, which constitutes theft from the US government and the rest of the American people.

An individual state would wither and die without support from and access to the rest.

I would call on the US Army to put my governor in his place.
Sweet, the military controlling who’s in charge seems like a genius idea. /s

Are you for real? I can’t tell if you’re trolling or legitimately think that would be a good idea, because if you think it’s a good idea…wow, there is literally no hope for you.

or Congress running Facebook, itunes, instagram, Android or Apple.
Facebook: Company
iTunes: Product owned by apple
Instagram: Company owned by facebook
Android: Product owned by Alphabet (Google’s parent company)
Apple: Company

 Not a great comparison

Agreed. I was hasty in my reply and made a blatant terminology error.

The logistical issues behind a state seceding from the US are too numerous to even list.

How would you know that??? God Bless, Memaw
I am on my parish’s finance committee and the typical Catholic family gives around 1-2% of their income to the Church. Bernie donated around 5% of his income.

If my state attempted to secede, I would not support my state and it would warrant military intervention. I would support the US military, not my state government.
