I would, too, but then I’m not a big fan of my state.

I imagine if a state did attempt to secede it would be a peaceful process much like Quebec’s or Scotland’s. I wouldn’t support using military force against a peaceful referendum. What we really need, however, is a way for the people of a country to kick someone out when they become too troublesome or expenses. I’m thinking of Quebec’s incessant whining as just one example of when that might be a nice tool to have.

I have been on finance committees for 35 years. Since we dont know what our parishioners income is there is no way we would know what % of their income was given.We also dont know what other charites they might be contributing to In addition i have never been in a finance committee where we were privy to what individual parishioners gave
 
ok. I guess it would only be like Quebec’s referendum then… and maybe just a teensy bit like Scotland’s in that it would both be a peaceful referendums. 🙂 I’m sure there are many blue states that would relish going at it alone without the red states around cramping their style. Might not be such a bad deal for all around.

I don’t know how much the individuals give, nor do I know their income. But I know the aggregate giving and I know the aggregate income in the area. If 25% of purported Catholics in my area gave 5% of their income, our parish income would triple.

But you have no idea of they are giving to other Charities .

This all seems like private information to me, unless the parishioners choose to reveal it themselves.

It is private information, I have no information on how much any one individual gives. But I can make inferences from our totals to get an average level of giving and I know the average level of income.

I can’t imagine all that information being on a parish finance record. I don’t believe my parish has any idea what my income is. And no parish I have ever belonged to did either. Also they don’t have any idea what other things I donate to. like EWTN or our Catholic Radio station etc. Besides if your a trusted person, I don’t believe you should be revealing this kind of information anyway. Why don’t you ask Bernie how much he has donated to Planned Parenthood etc. God Bless, Memaw

I am not reporting any individual information, just reporting based on aggregate information. I don’t know, nor do I care about how much any one individual donates.

No, I left because I wanted to study theology in the US. The taxes didn’t really bother me; I’m used to them since I’m French, and the joy of living in Provence was worth paying more.
