Jesus made an effort to teach that not all the rules in the O.T. were valid.
No, Fran, He did nothing of the kind. On the contrary, he validated ALL that was written, and fulfilled it.
Matt 5 17*“Think not that I have come to abolish the law and the prophets; I have come not to abolish them but to fulfil them. For amen I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot, or one tittle shall not pass of the law, till all be fulfilled.
19 He therefore that shall break one of these least commandments, and shall so teach men shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven. But he that shall do and teach, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Do you see Jesus “invalidating” anything here?
This is an example of you asserting something that contradicts the Scriptures and the Teachings of the Church.
For instance, He was accused of breaking the Law when He was picking at wheat one Sabbath and eating it. He told the pharisees that it’s more important to pay attention to what comes OUT of the mouth than to what goes INTO it.
Do you think Jesus wanted to break the Laws? Could it be that He didn’t think this one was valid?
It was neither, Fran. He was not criticizing the law itself, but the attitude of the Pharisees in the application of it.
Matt. 23 1
Then said Jesus to the crowds and to his disciples, 2“The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses’ seat; 3
so practice and observe whatever they tell you, but not what they do; for they preach, but do not practice. 4They bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with their finger.
God’s laws about the Sabbath were created so that man could rest from his labors, and have time to focus on spiritual and family growth. Jesus and the Apostles were not “harvesting” on the sabbath (just getting a snack). He was criticizing their LEGALISM in how they understood and applied the Law, not the Law itself. On the contrary, he affirmed the Sabbath law:
Mark 2 27
And he said to them, “The sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath; 28so the Son of man is lord even of the sabbath.
When Jesus is Lord, there is no legalism.

I mean, have you read Leviticus? And you think God actually wanted all that stuff done?
Why would I not? The Church teaches us that this book is part of the inspired and inerrant Word of God. Have you appointed yourself the judge of what God actually wanted based on your reading of the text? That sounds like something a protestant would do…
I believe in the bible 100%, but I do think that maybe man got some stuff in there too.
I am sorry, but this just does not hang together. Either it was contaminated by human error, or it was divinely preserved from error. If you "believe 100% then it is one, or the other.
I’d say that Jesus agrees with me.
Well of course! We all want to believe Jesus agrees with our opinions.
See. Not so easy. I’m not being disrespectful to the Word of God. Just stating facts.
Fran
It is a mistreatment of the Scriptures for individual believers to pick and choose which sections are contaminated by human error, and which parts are divinely inspired.
Your “FACTS” are things you have read that seem to you to be contradictions because you suffer from black and white thinking. The Word of God does not contradict itself. It is our perceptions that are contrary.
