In comparison to Canada and Western Europe we have a right wing and a centrist party. In comparison with say Saudi Arabia we have to left wing parties. In comparison with the 1970s or so there has been a rightward shift on issues like taxation levels.

Rich, I was listening to “On Point” the other night. Many of the callers stated those who opposed the HHS mandate were “extremist.” That is, 2,000 years of Catholic Teaching were labeled “extremist” by those on the left.

Schwarzenegger could have a point. The Tea Party US Senate candidate who ousted long time Senator Dick Lugar in yesterday’s Indiana Republican primary believes bipartisanship should consist of Democrats coming over to his way of thinking.

An interesting definition I suppose if it were not for the fact the Democrats have had a majority and I haven’t seen a whole lot of votes with many Republicans coming over to their way. I’ve seen some things requiring a super majority 60 votes.

You do not understand the meaning of CINO. A CINO is somebody who calls themselves a Catholic but does not know a lot of Church teaching and does not go frequently to Church. It may also be used to describe those Catholics who support things in opposition to the faith.

No, that’s your definition of CINO and a very uncharitable one at that. You are in one motion forgetting that sinning Catholics need the Church, and need to feel part of it so that they may be reconciled to it. Calling one a CINO by your definition is dismissing them as fellow Catholics. As has been said, the Church is a hospital for sinners, (even “CINOs,”) not a country club for the saved.
