Julius_Caesar:
Nope. You don’t baptize yourself.
I was not a participant? Did I do anything?

“Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 2:37 KJV

Note the term. “BE BAPTIZED.”

You don’t baptize yourself.

You showed up to be baptised walking on your own feet instead of being carried in with your parents doing the walking. You spoke the response since you were old enough instead of having the responses spoken for you by your parents. In either case, you or your parents, you responded TO something which was done TO you.

Then why all the recent hoopla about using the word “we” instead of “I” when the priest baptizes?
The baptizee doesn’t do anything.

He GETS baptized.

Baptism is the bath of regeneration.

You’re mixing Dispensationalism with the Parousia.
Regardless the question is viable.

Do you believe all merit/ reward is heaven or hell, for you said that is the only judgement (thing to be judged)?
Another way, are their two kinds of merits/ rewards, or just one?

In our community we can be asked a question or we basically testify of the salvation and lordship we have newly been given in Christ.

I thought in CC Satan is to be renounced and His Lordship declared, and a few other things.

Is faith doing something?
Well first it is a gift from God, and then per James by same grace we do something. I was baptized precisely because I was alive in Christ to do something.

So I suppose per C teaching one cant be doing anything at baptism because you are regenerated there. And salvation can’t be by righteous works.

Baptism is the bath of regeneration, hence it is THE MEANS of being alive with Christ.
Yes, the belief of many but not all. And the confirming of such is problematic for many.

I think CC has one sacramentally born again for sure, but from there in fear and trembling work out that salvation, hoping for salvation in the end by perseverance and good works to show.

I think others switch it a bit. Kind of like in fear and trembling be until you are assured of being born again, regardless of any ritual or good works. Thereafter, persevere and do good works, cautiously (in fear and trembling) resting assurance on Him for all.

The belief of Paul. Read Romans 6.

As Paul taught again. Read the entire book of Hebrews.

So besides being written in the book of life and gaining entry into heaven, there are no other merits/rewards given?
Irrelevant to the verse. Paul explicitly says he knows nothing against h but that doesn’t put him in the clear.
I asked what is the white throne judgement that is mentioned in bible.
Dispensationalism doesn’t work with it.

I believe it is relevant to the several scriptures where Paul alludes to losing something.

If one doesn’t believe in rewards/merits for our works done in Christ besides heavenly entrance then it is a moot point.
