As if anyone would notice the difference.…removing the border patrol.

That is the game that the Feds play. They use federal funding as a hammer, yet never once do you hear of a corresponding suspension of federal taxes. The “federal” dollars that flow into a state are but a fraction of the dollars that first flow out. It is their own money that they are denying them. That is why I view the federal government as a form of tyranny when it uses this tactic. It is theft based on military might, or plundering and pillaging, done through lawyers. If Arizona wants to play hardball then the Federal government should put it back in its place by denying all Federal grants and funding and removing the border patrol. Then we’ll just wait for Arizona to come crawling back into the Union.
The world I want would include no theocracies or dictatorships, and would generally be a more prosperous and peaceful place than the world we actually live in.I don’t think there is an issue as inflammatory as slavery here. The Federal government will prevail over AZ of course. It was just nice to see a little push back from David against Goliath. The Federal government has consolidated its power and made enough people dependent so that the show’s over. The tipping point has been reached. Everyone who thinks the AZ mentality is moronic are prevailing anyway. You will get the world you want. Congrats.
Amen, finally a state enforcing its sovereignty under the Constitution and informing the federal government that the power comes from the states, not the other way around.finally, a state that is willing to excercise its sovereignty![]()
How about they just give it back to the Arizonans? Why do they have to fall under some tyrannical, oppressive central government? At this stage, I’m tempted to sugest to the Feds that they give Arizona back to the Mexicans.![]()

I would add that if they want to act like they’re not part of the United States, we should treat them as such.If Arizona wants to play hardball then the Federal government should put it back in its place by denying all Federal grants and funding and removing the border patrol. Or, they could take matters into their own hands, establish their own currency, and do better than the average slave state begging for Uncle Obama table scraps. If Arizona wants to play hardball then the Federal government should put it back in its place by denying all Federal grants and funding and removing the border patrol. Hey, if the US is going to boot Arizona, I want a heads up so I can move there.I would add that if they want to act like they’re not part of the United States, we should treat them as such.
There is a name for that world, its called Fantasyland and I believe its featured in one of the Disney theme parks. The world I want would include no theocracies or dictatorships, and would generally be a more prosperous and peaceful place than the world we actually live in.
If you really think that a landlocked border state can really survive economically on its own…Or, they could take matters into their own hands, establish their own currency, and do better than the average slave state begging for Uncle Obama table scraps.
The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg has one of the most robust and stable economies in all of Europe. I can’t see why not. Is oceanfront property a requirement for prosperity? If you really think that a landlocked border state can really survive economically on its own…
Except for one thing. If Arizona decides to secede, the United States doesn’t look favorably on rebellious states. It’s far more likely that there will be a blockade around Arizona for its seditious rebellion against the United States and we would probably have Mexico also enforce the blockade. Since Arizona needs the resources of the United States than the United States needs the resources of Arizona, I think the rebellion would be short-lived.The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg has one of the most robust and stable economies in all of Europe. IF AZ opted to secede, they could run to the UN and decry the “brutal and oppressive regime of the United States”. That would be rich.Except for one thing. California, on the other hand, could probably do BETTER than it is now if it weren’t bogged down by the former confederacy, but I digress.
They could try. They’d also be laughed at as they’re escorted out the door.IF AZ opted to secede, they could run to the UN and decry the “brutal and oppressive regime of the United States”. That would be rich.
So, the UN only honors requests from its fellow big government, socialist cabal friends then? They could try. They’d also be laughed at as they’re escorted out the door.
Nice way to frame the issues. It makes it look like something it’s not.So, the UN only honors requests from its fellow big government, socialist cabal friends then?
The citizens of Arizona created the State of Arizona. The federal government allowed them into the union. That is the way the process works. Just like Puerto Rico. The federal government cannot just unilaterally MAKE PR a state. The people of PR need to vote to see if they even want to be a state, which thusfar has not happened.Nice way to frame the issues. It makes it look like something it’s not.
It’s simply a case of one state declaring itself independent of the United States (which CREATED the State of Arizona) in unlawful rebellion. Sorry, but that’s sedition at best, treason at worst.
On the other hand, I’m perfectly willing to let the entire confederacy, including states that would have been confederate if they were states then, including Arizona. I’d also be for a complete blockade of the rebel states. If they don’t want the United States, we can show them what it’s like to be without us.
Wanna guess of what color I would have worn in the Civil War?
Switzerland seems to do OK to.The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg has one of the most robust and stable economies in all of Europe. I can’t see why not. Is oceanfront property a requirement for prosperity?
Actually that war was over the ability of a minority of the states to disolve the union - an item not addressed in the Constitution. As I recall we already had a conflict concerning states rights versus ability of the national government to enforce federal law here in the U.S. It was known as the Civil War, and the states rights advocates (the Confederacy and its soldiers) lost.
