Thanks to Trump’s failed trade policies.
My brother farms (and so do many of his life-long friends and our few remaining relatives).

They all love Pres. Trump. They all dread the thought of a Biden/Harris win.

If a gunman bursts into a hospice facility and starts shooting, did the victims (all patients) die of gunshot wounds or their underlying condition?

Of course, they died of the gunshot wounds. Without the gunshots they wouldn’t have died that day.

Same with covid-19 and polychronic patients. Yes, they have underlying conditions, but, without the virus, they wouldn’t have died at that time.

After President Trump retweeted a claim that discounted the coronavirus death toll in the United States over the weekend, Twitter took down the post that spread false information.

The tweet was originally posted by “Mel Q,” a follower of the baseless conspiracy theory QAnon, which posits that the president is battling a cabal of Satan-worshiping child sex traffickers. It was copied from a Facebook post and claimed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had “quietly updated the Covid number to admit that only 6%” of reported deaths — or about 9,000 — “actually died from Covid.”

The rest were people who “had 2-3 other serious illnesses,” said the tweet, which has since been replaced with a message saying it “is no longer available because it violated the Twitter Rules.” A Twitter spokesperson said the tweet violated the company’s coronavirus misinformation policy.

The claim appears to be a reference to the CDC’s Wednesday update to its death data and resources page, which noted that in 6 percent of reported deaths, covid-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, “was the only cause mentioned.”

However, that does not mean only 6 percent of reported deaths are attributed to the virus — it means 94 percent of people had at least one additional factor contributing to their deaths. In addition, the information is no secret addendum: It’s been on the CDC site since at least May.

The president also retweeted a link to an article by far-right Gateway Pundit — which remains on his page — containing the “Mel Q” tweet and using the 6 percent figure to attack members of Trump’s own coronavirus task force.

That must refer to the same article in this OP.

No, we mourn for all those who have lost their jobs (unemployment currently 16.9% in our city, and before the pandemic, it was around 6%), and those who have lost their businesses/livelihoods/dreams.

We mourn for farmers who have lost many of their markets for their produce and dairy because of the closing of schools and restaurants.

We mourn for those in the entertainment industry who no longer have work or any hope of work in the future (and who AREN’T big stars with millions in the bank).

We mourn for schoolchildren, teens, and college students who are trying to learn online–works for some subjects, but not for many others that require hands-on work. We mourn for their parents who are at the end of their rope working full-time (or not working if they have lost their job) and are trying to find the time and energy to teach their own children, especially difficult with children who have some kind of disability like autism or ADHD.

We mourn for churches that will close because of the loss of tithes and offerings.

We mourn for the women and children who are forced to live with abusers in a dangerous home.

We mourn for all those older folks who are lonelier than ever due to the lack of human contact.

And we mourn for those who have committed suicide out of despair and loss of all hope of ever getting “back to normal” again.
And while we are mourning them, let us remember how the indecisive and misleading leadership of Trump caused our nation to be suffer the effects of this virus more than most other highly-industrialized nations. If it was handled properly at the beginning, following guidance of public health officials and encouraging compliance with wearing masks, etc., we would not have such serious economic repercussions as we have now.

Well, there are 200,000 more dead in America than there normally would be and what’s different about this year is COVID, so I’m going to say that COVID has killed about 200,000 more Americans than would have normally died in a typical year.
Corelation is not causation. What would the “normal” death number be?
Thanks to Trump’s failed trade policies.
Farmers “lost” markets for a number of reasons, none of which is because of trade policies with China. For some things, soybeans for example, it is a bumper crop year. With cattle, there has been an oligopoly problem combined with overproduction. Covid has increased the difficulty of many things, including transportation, processing and marketing.

But anti-Trumpers would rather see job losses here and higher profits at Walmart than give Trump credit for anything.
Same with covid-19 and polychronic patients. Yes, they have underlying conditions, but, without the virus, they wouldn’t have died at that time .
You don’t know that, of course.
“is no longer available because it violated the Twitter Rules.
The information it blocked is literally true. What one makes of it is a matter of opinion and what else one knows or doesn’t know.

But in the Democrat America, which Twitter is a part of, free speech and contrary opinions are not allowed.

What’s predictable is the usual anti Trump rhetoric .Your new your profile is hidden that can only mean one thing. You want to stir the pot here. Not playing along
I dont have pro or anti trump rhetoric, I dont care, I am not in the States so wont vote there. I have a good choice of clowns and vagabonds here to vote in or out.

But

I find it unbelievable that USA with 1/ 4 of the total world population of Covid has only 9000 covid deaths when other countries are struggling to bury their covid dead. I do remember NY had to use a large piece of land to bury multiple people in tidy rows. There were also refrigerated trucks as temporary morgues because the funeral homes and morgues had no room.

I still think it’s an unresolved question whether the health compromised victims died because they had Covid, or caught Covid because they were extraordinarily compromised. People have natural immunity to all kinds of things. Our immune systems are in a constant battle from the moment of birth to the day we die. Mostly, we don’t know what our systems fight off. I am inclined to believe there is a lot more Covid around than people know. Because of vulnerability, some “develop” the disease. But most fight it off before it can even be detectable.

Because it isn’t true. The article in the OP twists the statistics and discounts any death with a comorbidity.

So covid + pneumonia is discounted.

We have had about 180,000 dead.

The medical professionals determined covid caused their death.

And here we have another conspiracy theory. It is blocked therefore it must be true.

Either way, covid is to blame. The question you are raising is not relevant to judging the severity of this virus, which is the whole point anyway.

And he has access to Death Certificates?

That is rather suspicious don’t you think?

There is something wrong with the reporting. Belgium’s death rate is reported as almost twice that of the Netherlands, despite the fact that they’re virtually the same country geographically and economically.

And he has access to Death Certificates?

Not really. RR has stated in the past that he has done some para-legal work with estates sales or taxes or some such thing. It is not too surprising. The certificates are, I think, a matter of public record in many cases.

No. CDC decided which ones to put in their totals, based on the way the information was reported to them. Even liberal publications acknowledge that CDC was overreporting. I don’t know in exactly what way that was happening; only that it was.
And here we have another conspiracy theory. It is blocked therefore it must be true.
It’s not true because it’s blocked. i didn’t say that and you know it. My complaint is that liberal media block speech with which they don’t agree.
the severity of this virus
Which is actually fairly benign except for those with compromised immune systems who could be separately protected. And yet, Dem politicians want to shut the economy down because of it instead of protecting the vulnerable.

never said it. Never did it. I work with real estate transactions, particularly with lenders. I see death certificates frequently. People who work in real estate do. Nothing suspicious about it. Lots of them are filed on the public real estate records. I dont’ recommend that to people, but a lot of them do.

There are actually two types of death certificates. One is the “official” kind that is filled out by the certifying physician or coroner. The other is simply a record establishing death, but without the health information on it.

But again, if you’re working with real estate titles, you see both kinds frequently. You see, if two people own a piece of property and one dies, you have to establish the death on the real estate record in order to go forward with a transaction, because title companies won’t insure it if you don’t.

There are two ways to do that; one of which is to record the death certificate.

That is not true. Covid-19 is now the 3rd leading cause of death in the US:

And yet, Dem politicians want to shut the economy down…
No, they just want people to wear masks in public and observe social distancing. If we did that we would not need to shut the economy down. As the article above says:
WedMD.com:
The COVID-19 pandemic has spread so rapidly since the first U.S. case was reported Jan. 20 that it’s now the third-leading cause of death in the country…

“COVID is now the No. 3 cause of death in the U.S. – ahead of accidents, injuries, lung disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, and many, many other causes,” Frieden said.

The CDC says heart disease and cancer are the first- and second-leading causes of death.

The coronavirus has caused more than 170,000 deaths in the United States and has been taking more than 1,000 lives weekly for several weeks, Frieden said.

“Last week, Americans were eight times more likely to get killed by COVID than were Europeans,” he said.

The number of deaths – and cases – in the United States may be undercounted because not enough people are tested, experts have said.

The newly reported covid symptom should make males sit up and take note, Shock topic for a new thread. My guess is it will change the discourse on this virus.

Do you mean the side effects similar to the side effect of mumps?

Thats the one. There are issues with that tissue a potential reservoir of the virus.
Whole new ballgame (😎) coming up if thats the case. This virus is spreading more rapidly amongst young adults.

long term side effects and debilitating issues.

This symptom has started being seen here in young men who test positive.
