I KNOW that there are some decent people who follow Islam. I do not understand why anyone follows Muhammed, however. From every account I have ever seen, this guy was not a good man. Some of his verses as well as his lifestyle suggests that he was a bizarre man. The murders which take place to avenge this or that slight are logical in light of some verses written by Muhammed.

Point taken; but Pope John Paul II also had some serious reservations on this as well. Catholic Answers has a good article on this online; I think it is an article discussing whether both faiths worship the one true God.

Yes exactly. I do think this current nihilistic movement is a consequence of the “dictatorship of relativism” as our dear Pope Benedict XVI pointed out.

I think that both movements, militant Islam and nihilism embolden each other. None are new. They are both deniers of Truth. One denies Truth all together and the other has its own version of truth. Combined they both form a colossal anti-Truth, anti-Christ movement.
Sometimes I wonder if all of this is because of our lukewarmness.

In any case, I wanted to apologize as I now notice various typos I had on my previous comment.

The intellectual roots of modern Islamism lie very much in the West.
Mark Steyn has a good read of what lukewarm has meant. He notes of how generations of Muslims moved to the West in the sixties and seventies to get away from the sickness ad backwardness of their home societies. Rather than moving into a West confident and believing in itself, they moved into a West embracing multiculturalism, too weak and unsure and even contemptuous of its own history to make it the default choice to learn.
So rather than following their parents into an embrace of Western culture, the children of these immigrants embraced the culture of Islamism with a vengeance.
The same lukewarm response that is present in Westerner’s embrace of their religion is present in the embrace of our culture.

We, the West, are a people who have forgotten how to believe in anything, forgotten the importance of faith.
And we are leading the world along that path.

We can pray and dialogue at the same time. The first step in Egalitarian Dialogue is setting the field straight for equality. I 'm not sure you take the time to see what one writes back to you. I have no love for murder but my home is not here forever – God even showed us how to get there with his love and grace – cross to resurrection. We are called to live the liturgy and right now there is Alleluia joy – Mary the Mother of God didn’t forget the crucifixion of Jesus but she also knew the joy of the resurrection. There are organizations out there who are helping give food , shelter and care to the refugees of the middle east – How do you think we can help the people in the Middle East?
