Zuhdi Jasser is a Muslim:

So, it sounds like only the radicals believe in the manner of which you speak, hence, this brought out some radicals.
He is not representative of Islam. It is like asking the Roman Catholic Nancy Pelosi what she thinks about government sponsorship of contraceptions. She says it is ok, and then you say it is only the extremists in the Catholic Church who oppose government sponsorship of contraception or abortion.
So your logic is fallacious.

Do you think it is a good thing that these terrorists were killed before they killed others?
Killing is not ‘good’ – only God is good – self defense and protecting those who participated in this small, minded, reality is a must. Evil minded terrorist or mentally ill USA citizens ( I have no idea if these guys were mentally ill or not or citizens) had the intent to kill and thank God they didn’t get any further with their intent of killing.
This never would have happened if this arrogant drawing contest hadn’t occurred and imagine if the security guard didn’t get these men-- how many lives then would have been taken?
Any moral person who studies the ten commandments knows it is against the 5 commandment to incite someone to evil-- and attacking someones religion can do just that,.
Catechism CCC 2262 - "In the Sermon on the mount, the Lord recalls the commandment,“You shall not kill” and adds to it the proscription of anger, hatred, and vengeance. Going further, Christ asks his disciples to turn the other cheek, to love their enemies. He did not defend himself and told Peter to leave his sword in its sheath.
Thank God the security man protected life and he had to do what ever he could to save lives and he did! God have mercy on the ones killed–

The intellectual roots of modern Islamism lie very much in the West.
Mark Steyn has a good read of what lukewarm has meant. He notes of how generations of Muslims moved to the West in the sixties and seventies to get away from the sickness ad backwardness of their home societies. Rather than moving into a West confident and believing in itself, they moved into a West embracing multiculturalism, too weak and unsure and even contemptuous of its own history to make it the default choice to learn.
So rather than following their parents into an embrace of Western culture, the children of these immigrants embraced the culture of Islamism with a vengeance.
The same lukewarm response that is present in Westerner’s embrace of their religion is present in the embrace of our culture.

We, the West, are a people who have forgotten how to believe in anything, forgotten the importance of faith.
And we are leading the world along that path.
I tend to agree with Bat ye’or version a little more than Steyn’s. The plan is a little more sinister than what Steyn tells.
There was an orchestrated plan that was exacerbated after the oil crisis to send migrant workers into Europe for the sole purpose of breeding and taking over after a few generations. Their plan was actually outlined in the 100-year plan of the Muslim Brotherhood to conquer Europe and the West in general.
That is not to say that nihilism and relativism found in the west are not flourishing grounds for this kind of take over by Islamists. Nihilism and relativism make the ground fertile for leftist extremist and the Muslim brotherhood has taken advantage of that. Both are allies as both seek the destruction of a nation. The leftist extremist are willing to suspend their so-called motto’s of human rights and the Islamists are willing to suspend their “morality” for their end goal. Both their goal is to destroy Christianity. Not a nation, but Christianity. As Christianity is the great builder of families, nations, etc. Destroy Christianity in a nation and the nation crumbles along with it.

Ever since Al-bana’s revolution in Egypt they have been radicalizing ever more and the Muslim Brotherhood now comprising of mainstream Islam in the Muslim world as well as in the West.
All of this, they could do due to the West’ inability to fight this enemy within and the enemy’s new weapon, mothers…
All of this was mostly pushed by the Saudi’s and now they own so much of the businesses in the west. Europe, especially England is practically a franchise of Saudi Arabia. The US is not far behind. Just take a look at the amount of businesses in the US and Canada they own or they own enough shares to have a say.
It just takes a little scraping the surface to find out that their plan is not as innocent as the “tolerance” crowd wants everybody to think.
We are in deep trouble. I have a background in international relations and I can assure you that all of these riots we are experiencing today will morph into Muslim riots. Just like they happen in France and Sweden. We are being attacked and most don’t realize it.

It’s a great war and ultimately is a great spiritual warfare. We went lukewarm and something else filled the void. Time to get back to our knees and ask God for forgiveness and mercy just like we are told the Israelis had to do every time they went through something like this.

Aah, but that in no way addresses the nature of my argument, which is not of who Muslims are, but that Mohammed is a false prophet.
Code:
**So he is a false prophet but the Muslims don't think that -- just like some people think the pope is the anti christ - **

Catholic teaching is the strongest teaching for life of any religion.
Still, it is not the topic of this thread. We ought to be able to walk and chew gum and the same time. (killing is killing and some people know how to think and chew gum too)**

I 'm not sure you take the time to see what one writes back to you. I have no love for murder but my home is not here forever – God even showed us how to get there with his love and grace – cross to resurrection. We are called to live the liturgy and right now there is Alleluia joy – Mary the Mother of God didn’t forget the crucifixion of Jesus but she also knew the joy of the resurrection. There are organizations out there who are helping give food , shelter and care to the refugees of the middle east – How do you think we can help the people in the Middle East?
I see what people write, but our job as Catholics is not to ignore politics, science, the arts, etc. There is much more to life than living the liturgy exclusively, only to ignore all else. We need to expand our consciences beyond what we are handed and develop new solutions on our own too. God helps those who help themselves, right…?

My solutions are through a fully Catholic informed conscience. I’m calling for dialogue with the Sufi Muslims, because I believe they are closer to Jesus than the Salafists are. This is one thing.forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=949884

Another is to denounce widespread sin -which is Salafist Sunni Islam. You do realize that an entire region of earth known as the Middle East, filled with souls, is living a life completely contrary to what is right? How can we stand by, watching injustice unfold, doing nothing about it? Why not work with the Sufi, to encourage their influence while offering them greater protection?

Of course, this is political. So is abortion… These are choices Catholics like me work hard to understand and come up with solutions on. Because I care. And Pamela Geller understands what the problem with Islam is too, so she shows everyone…

Since you have brought it up, what do you recommend be done in the United States per abortion?

Outlaw it? I’m for that.

But you would then be dealing with many women who would insist they have reproductive rights.

As long as this is brought up, I would not think it is out-of-line to ask your view on this.

Just briefly, per Sufi Islam, when I websearch for those two words and go to the images, I certainly get some interesting ones. By the way, I use bing to search for images, I see some images come up with google. The “eye” thing kind of amazes me.

But it is very interesting reading your comments, I do think you are educating a lot of us. Thanks.

Yes, to all that you say, but the liturgy goes far beyond our earthly existence and it fuels all that we do – because as you know the Holy Eucharist brings us always to serve the poor. The poor are every where and also the liturgy brings us to Jesus – to live a Trinitarian life. So the liturgy will never take one away from growing in knowledge and grace. May God bless your efforts to help those who are being slaughtered. But I will never agree with promoting a contest which can incite a culture of Islam and religion to kill others in the name of their God. So in this area we may agree to disagree. Peace!

Before anything can be done about abortion, first we need to find an answer as to why people would prefer to kill their babies over raising them, or, even preferably, not even have those children at all?

It is not a legal question. It is a political question. It is not even a particularly moral question.

It is a spiritual question.

Likely, it was not my views that were being asked for though, but was just a problem with the quote function.

"The moral equivalency there is just absurd. It’s like blaming somebody who has an argument with a drunk for antagonizing the angry drunk for becoming violent.
"I mean the military families never act out against the Westboro Baptist Church, the Jewish community never acts out against Louis Farrakhan for his radicalism.
  • Dr. Zuhdi Jasser
When one looks into this, the outrage seems to mainly be by radicals. I am posting this a 2nd time but the thought dawned on me on who this does anger. Not a moderate like Dr. Zuhdi Jasser or if it does, his reaction is measured.

We are told “all Muslims take offense to this”, do we know that for a fact. Do all Catholics take offense to the Last Temptation of Christ and so on??

Islam in its true form may very well be what the catechism refers to in stating that Islam worships God. If this is true then what and where is true Islam? If there exists true Islam somewhere in this world it is a tiny remnant. Those who claim adherence to strict Islamism are the ones most aggressively trying to kill us. It looks like to me that in order for you to be correct then the vast majority of Islamists today are heretical.

From today’s readings at Mass:
They will expel you from the synagogues;
in fact, the hour is coming when everyone who kills you
will think he is offering worship to God.
They will do this because they have not known either the Father or me.
I have told you this so that when their hour comes
you may remember that I told you.”
They HAVE NOT known the FATHER or ME said Jesus. Since they have not known the Father or the Son, the Spirit is not there either. From Jesus’s words, if those who kill us think they are worshipping God, if they are not, who then? There is only one answer.

I don’t know if I would go as far as judging the intentions of others. For all I know Pamela can be fighting for what she believes is a good cause for free speech, etc. Her motives might not be hate as some quickly judge they are.
You have a point. I dislike mockery as a method to make one’s point but I cannot and will not judge Pamela’s intentions. I cannot read her mind after all.

This is what the cartoon contest was about - to mock Islam.

If gangs of heinous Islamic terrorist savages are going to behead, stone, rape, burn, you name it kill others for every whim known to them, the least that can be done is to MOCK THEM!

“We need to pray for our enemies and ask the Lord to turn their hearts, if their hearts will not be turned, may He turn their ankles so we will know them by their limping”!

As there were no smart phones back in the day, we need to know what the enemy looks like, therefore the need for drawings! Silhouettes and “profiles” are also valuable!

I spent an early part of my life living in an Islamic country. Most of them are what you call Muslim in name only. They more or less resemble the Christians in the US, more secular than Muslim.

So what is the answer to the question. Why do people prefer their offspring to be dead, or to never be born at all?
Your premise is wrong and the answer as to why people kill their children is a irelevant as there is no excuse for them doing so

The story of Ishmael in the bible tells us the story of a slave people. God promised they will be vast in number as well. Muslims don’t have the intimacy or know God the way we are privileged to. They still today behave like slaves to the master. They did learn who God was from the Jews and us, but is basically a heresy of Christianity. A heresy that reduces Christ to a mere second-hand prophet below Muhammad. They don’t know the mercy of God. They only see one aspect of God but not what He revealed to us through Jesus Christ. It is a very incomplete, limited knowledge of God.

They are in a sense prisoners of their own knowledge of God. It’s not that they worship a different God, but that they just know very little about Him. For them God is a master and thus require complete submission. For us, God is a master but also a Father.
The problem with just having a “master” knowledge of God is that when some fall and worship the god of this world instead, they still submit to him completely without free will involved.
The other problem with just worshiping a master rather than a father is that free will is limited to non-existent. That’s why we see and we have seen all through out the history of Islam, such a rise of terrorism within them. They are terrorized of God so some of them develop a tendency to terrorize others with the same fears they, themselves, feel about God.

The terrorists are propelled by forces which even they do not understand as there is very little free will involved in Islam in the first place. Years ago, each one made a decision of evil. As the years went on, the evil multiplied and took them in various directions, leading them to commit certain acts.

Submission only can be a double-edged sword. It is a great thing when submitting to the true God, but a horrible thing when one is not submitting to God. That is why we see Muslims who are very good moral people and that is why we see Muslims who are basically demonized human beings roaming the earth, ie ISIS, Boko Haram, Al qaida, Alfurqan, Al shabab, etc…
Muhammad was not just a pederast he was a heretic. He perverted everything he touched. As in my response above to Jharek If Islam ever worshipped the One True Triune God it ceased to do so under the false prophet Muhammad and does not do so today. Thank you for your response. Very interesting.

One cannot judge her intent but one more certainly can judge her actions. I find the idea that she is somehow a champion of free speech and or she is battling Islam to be silly . She held a tasteless contest, got a lot of publicity but at the end of the day she accomplished nothing.

She had every right to do so and ifb Muslims don’t like it they should hold a contest mocking her Faith and or criticizing her in every venue possible Which, of course, like her contest, will accomplished absolutely nothing but it makes for good theater

If it accomplished nothing, it is odd that we are talking about it so much.
