Still amazed by how many people don’t understand you could be offended by both .
It certainly seems like more people are bothered by what a “rhymes with witch” Pam Geller is than they are by the people who want to kill her. Much of the sentiment seems to be shooting her is a reasonable response to her sponsoring of a “blasphemous” art exhibit.

Then surely you agree that there should be no more protests at abortion clinics. Because there are women who have had abortions who now feel bad, and that is offensive to them.

Nonsense. Not a single person in this thread is has even hinted that the attack on her contest was justified in any way shape or form . This is not an either or proposition

Just exactly what was she protesting? There is no law in this country that you can’t draw pictures of Mohammed .

Actually, according to the whole ‘offensive’ logic, it is just ‘mean’ all around, to protest abortions because most people disagree.

TEPO, the more I read your posts the more firmly I am convinced that this whole carton contest was deliberatly staged by some to try and “wake up people.”
If you and others beleive these kind of things need to happen in order to “wake people up” I beleive you are gravely mistaken. Just because people choose to not “antagonize” or “smoke out” the extremist and instead seek other more peaceful ways of dialoge or make a statement or point does not necessarily mean they need to “wake up!” In fact I do beleive that it could be said that you and others of like mind are really the ones who need to “wake up.” But then we would be stuck in this childish argument of accusing each other of who really needs to wake up that just keeps goin back and forth to see who can say the last word. I do beleive that is why earlier posters have dropped out of this discussion. This discussion, like so any others here at CAF, has been reduce to just that notated how many words or ways you try to present it.

I don’t know about others and it may be wrong and God forgive me if it is but I know I have to follow my conscience right now and all I can say is I pray to Jesus to please give me the strength to willingly sacrifice my freedom of speech, my dignity, and even my life before I ever resort to tactics such as what was used in this “Cartoon Contest.” If that labels me as being too “cowardly” a “nihilist” and a “pacifist” or needing to “wake up” by some. So be it. I understand they have the freedom to do what they do just like I have the freedom to do what I do and I trust in God that all things work unto good in the end.

Why am I rambling like this? I guess the only point I am trying to make is that just because others don’t agree with you and your point of view or understanding or way of handling things does not necessarily mean they need to “wake up.” I read some place recently that Pope Francis said Martyrs do not use fists. I wish Incould remember exactly were so that I could share. I don’t beleive he was only referring to physical fists but we could sit here arguing about this too so I’ll just shut up and leave.

I really do wish you Peace and all good and pray, hope, and look forward to the day we will be of one mind in Our Lord Jesus Christ.
God is not going to stop the radicals. He does not feed the poor or stop Nazis from killing Jews. It’s up to people to stop Islamism. We need to support our military and our citizens, and just like war is ugly, so is Radical Islam and so will be the struggle against it.

I only had to go to post 10 to find one that more than hinted that Ms. Geller had it coming.
In my view, it is unnecessarily provocative to organise an event of this nature, for the sole purpose of proving some kind of dubious point.

I see Ms Geller was refused entry to the UK, as her organisation is classified as a hate group here, under our laws.
Post 11 had a similar sentiment.
I believe that artists/cartoonists should be free to draw whoever they choose but be prepared that if you are going to draw Mohammed some serious life/death stuff is going to go down.

Is it worth putting your life, your friends lives, security guards and police officers lives at risk? Weigh that against your freedom of expression right.

It’s a tough one. I would not want to be making that decision.

Neither do people who draw pictures of Mohhammed use fists.
The contest was done as a protest against people who do, remember?
People really ought to wake up to that fact.

It seems she was protesting the idea that shooting people is an appropriate response to drawing unflattering caricatures of Muhammad. Kind of surprising how controversial a proposition that is.

And a draw a cartoon of Mohamed contest is “stopping” Islam because?

To the extent that people demand that she submit lest she subject herself and others to the violence of the radicals, the violence of the radical Islamists is working for them.

The violence of the radical Islamists IS working for them. The vast swath of the West IS submitting to the violence and threats of violence.

She is explicit in her reasons that she is not going to submit to Islamist intimidation. It is cowardice on our part that we demand that of her too.

And how does such a contest accomplish that goal?

God and only God can change hearts and stop the radicals. We may be His instruments in His acomplishing this. But He is the one who will acomplish the stopping. The question. I keep asking myself is what kind of instrument does He want or need me to be for Him and what I wrote in my last thread is how I beleive, at this point, He wants me to be and. I need to support God first.

As for supporting the govenemt, I find it a very odd statement coming from you of all people. Is it not mainly the Government and it’s policies of “tolorence because they are too afraid to stand up against extreme Muslims” that, in part, you have been advocating against?

So far, in this instance anyway, I am beginning to wonder if maybe I am supporting the Government against extreme Muslims.

Jerusalem Imam speech.

In an Al-Aqsa Mosque address, posted on the Internet on May 1, Sheik ‘Issam Amira said that polytheist enemies should be given three options: “They must convert to Islam, or pay the jizya poll tax, or else, you should seek the help of Allah and fight them.” “You should fight them even if they do not fight you,” Amira stressed according to MEMRI TV.
No need to worry. I’m sure the rest of the Islamists ignore him and the others just like him. I will point out that there will be no Christians shooting him for his speech.

Qur’an (9:29) – “Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.” Suras 9 and 5 are the last “revelations” that Muhammad handed down – hence abrogating what came before, which includes the oft-quoted verse 2:256 -“Let there be no compulsion in religion…”.
Pamela Geller does not feel herself subdued yet. Those who do feel themselves subdued resent the freedom that she is displaying very much.

The venom being spewed at Geller originates from that disquiet weak timid souls must feel, when someone holds up a mirror to the hypocrisy of those who say I am all for freedom of speech, but…… Guarantee that will not make anyone popular. Those who demand their right to worship as they please, but will not defend freedom of speech, for which you cannot have one without the other, do not get it.

It seems to me in Geller’s mind the super intelligent and smart lovely people and the mainstream media kowtowing to the easily offended psychopathic morons is dangerous waters and that this country is being steered into it by the PC crowd that seem to be in control. That is the protest that these cartoonist and Geller are risking their lives to publicize.

Here is the point, freedom of speech exists or it doesn’t. If you don’t like the exhibition and are offended by it ignore it. Don’t look at it, don’t subscribe to it, walk away. That is the mature and reasonable thing to do. Unless you believe society must behave in ways that don’t upset unreasonable people.

Its the same concept as protesting Planned Parenthood. We protest it daily, but how is it “stopping” abortion, or stopping “Planned Parenthood”… What’s the difference?

Remember… I said support the “military”, specifically, not the government in all that it does. Also, I respect your faith in being an instrument of God, to the highest degree. Though, not all of us are called to the same talents… Some of us can be pastoral, and some of us can be something else. None the less, We are all the Body of Christ. We are the Church.

It can be disheartening. What difference has a million and one posts for life and against abortion made?

What difference has thirty years of Marches for Life made, when a man who voted against Born Alive protection can be voted into the Presidency by a plurality of Catholics?

What difference has Church teaching made on that plurality of Catholics?

And yet we keep on drumming home that message because that is the choice that is available to us.

Succumb to silence and the culture of death wins by default.
Succumb to the violence, and we become dhimmis.

It’s all so true, Darryl… I’m afraid most people are still uneducated on the subject. Unfortunately, by the time they do take the time to do the research it will be too late. The tentacles of Salafism are quickly taking over the middle east and the West with a quickness, and the media is not educating us well enough. Even the pleas of the Christians in the ME, by Bishops and missionaries is not enough…🤷

It’s all so very disheartening. :o. Its like they are oblivious…🤷
