How horrible, however, I still don’t see the reason why we should draw pictures of Mohammed, there are no reasons to do so unless you are intending to mock and that I believe would be disadvantageous, i.e., if we want Muslims to realize that Jesus is the " the truth, the way, and the life" than we should exemplify or rather emulate Him.

p.s. I can see how doing so would bring a sort of immediate vindictive satisfaction, especially in light of what some Muslims do to Christians in the Middle East, but in the end it will only result in their suffering not ours.
Josie, we are nowhere near the end. There could be thousands more generations after us. Nobody needs this in this world… Didn’t Jesus speak out against the pharisees when they wanted to stone an adulterous woman -asking which ones among them were without sin? Why then should we not rebuke the Islamists who believe it is okay to kill over sin?

…This is much, much more than mere drawings. This is total opposition to Islamic totalitarianism, sharia law, and Islamic violence altogether. We all need to stand in unity, as a global community against Islamic violence, in all of its forms. We must show it, denounce it, and rid the world of it permanently… Or it will be assumed that it belongs here… It doesn’t.

…Also, how could a moderate Muslim such as a Sufi for exampe, not understand the intentions of these drawings -that they are ‘calling-out’ only the Islamists who perpetrate violence. Surely they must understand that this is the only reason this is being done…

They should understand this and stand by while it happens, doing nothing, saying nothing. That is what they must do until the world is finished, and Islamic violence is no longer.

I disagree that we will do so through cartoons, quite frankly, I find this to be an infantile means to prove a point and/or criticize Islam, which by the way, I have no problem critiquing (just not in this manner necessarily).

p.s. And Jesus was preventing a woman from being killed, so I hardly think drawing cartoons that could cause others serious injuries (which we know as known to happen) is similar to what Jesus did.

Indeed. A Jewish hate group. Please refer to the NPR blog post, which explains it well enough.

I have no idea what your smileys are trying to communicate.

Jewish hate groups exist. Muslim hate groups exist.

This event was deliberate, to whatever limited extent hatred can be called conscious.
You are mistaken. Nowhere in the article that you provided does it state that a Jewish hate group organized this event… I surely hope this is merely another mistake…

Show me where it says that or retract your statement.

Yes, it is infantile. Which makes it all the worse to kill over. It’s also infantile to whip a woman who walks in public without being accompanied by a man. Its also infantile to throw homosexuals off buildings… The problem is the violence, not the homosexual, the lonely woman or the cartoonist.

Furthermore, the root perpetrator is the Islamist, who provokes the cartoonist to draw, who then provokes the islamist to kill again, which then provokes the cartoonist once again (hence the winning picture at the competition says it all -it’s genius actually).

…You see who the original perpetrator is? That is the core of the problem, which fuels the continuing cycle not only here, but in Israel and in many other places as well.

Not to be “nit-picky” but the word “infantile” in the above post does not relate. I think I get what you are saying but “infantile” throws me off. I LOVE infants - they are so fresh from Heaven they glow in God’s Love!

No, it’s not infantile to whip a woman or throw homosexuals off buildings, it’s downright evil, however, how does drawing cartoons of Mohammed prevent this from happening, do you not think that there are other (productive) means by which we can stop this from happening?

p.s. And again, I don’t excuse the people who did this (they’re extremists), but if we already know that others have been targeted or killed for doing the same, why would you attempt to do something that could cause another bout of violence? Do you really expect me to believe that when they put together this contest they weren’t expecting some sort of violent reaction to ensue? You would have to be pretty naïve to believe it wouldn’t.

Nah, it’s no mistake T. Try reading the article/blog and hearing what it says.

It’s actually quite racist to push the line that Jews are angels who can do no wrong.

Hateful idiocy like encouraging people to aggravate Islam is no different than Nazis or anyone else encouraging hatred of Judaism.

How could it be?

And by the way, just because I tend to not point out people’s errors when claiming I’m wrong, means absolutely nothing.

I generally let people slide ‘cause I don’t usually really care to involve myself in others’ delusions.🤷

“Aggravating Islam”, i.e., Islam is not a person but a thing, moreover, as much as I believe that this was infantile and/or provocative does not signify that it was intended to breed hate either.

p.s. Hateful extremists such as ISIS don’t necessarily need provocation to exist, they are what they are.

Oh, I was waiting for this event, knowing beforehand that there would be a good chance of an attack. It was a battle that was won not by the Islamists though.

…This is a war. Believe it. A war beyond and before the military. We’re not used to this… It is here now.

Perhaps you didn’t understand what I clearly stated?

And, obviously, Jewish terrorists are little different than Islamist or Christian terrorists.

Jewish supremacists, Christian supremacists, Muslim supremacists, what care I?

I asked you to show me where the article states that Jews sponsored this event. If you cannot prove it, and the article does not say it, then that means you have been untruthful… We’ve been over this before, remember…?

Please quote it or retract the statement.

You did not “clearly state” anything other than your own biases, moreover, I hardly feel threatened by Jewish and/or Christian terrorists, because unlike their Muslim counterparts, they are not numerous nor as threatening/violent.

Anyone who states “what care I” is obviously unaware of the statistical info we have concerning terrorism, more specifically, Islamic terrorism.

Great posts Tepo.

Two people died and others injured, is this really the route we need to take to win a “war”??

p.s. We can fight Islam without resorting to infantile provocations (that’s not to say that I don’t believe in freedom of speech, but as Christians we still need to be prudent/wise).

I noticed the quotations around the word “war”. Yes, our military is overseas, and has been there, but the battles are here now too, on our land.

These Islamists were in sleeping, in full communication with the enemy, just waiting for their time to strike. But they were ordered by us, as opposed to some random attack of their own making… If that’s not strategic, then I don’t know what is.

I don’t agree with the cartoons as being an effective means to fight Islam, and nothing you or anybody else says is going to make me believe otherwise.

God bless!

God bless you too Josie.

What would you consider an “effective means to fight Islam”?
