I agree. They are expecting President Trump to be some kind of miracle worker.
In the past, great presidents knew they needed to accept responsibility, the old “buck stops here” mentality. I hope we have this kind of leadership again some day.
Because international cooperation and sharing of information is an asset in a crisis.
I think of all the news stories the one that bothered me the most had little to do with the president. It was the allegation of Russia hacking to get vaccine information, as if that is not something that should be freely shared.
Johns Hopkins still has the U.S. at 10th in mortality per capita and 13th in mortality per case.
It was not claimed that we lead the world in per capita deaths. The fact we are even trying to find statistics that gets us off the bottom of the pile is disturbing. No, we are not the worst in per capita deaths. Yay?
Yeah we will just hand the baton over to “C’mon man” !Joe Biden. He will cure the Covid at the same time he finds a cure for cancer!..
This is the worst possible reply. Leadership is never about running others down for your failures, what if’s and what about’s. It is about embracing the role and taking responsibility. We do not need a snowflake president.

This thread is not about Joe Biden. Anyone can start their own thread. Going off topic to campaign is not appropriate here.

Interesting that you should say that, yet it has been nonstop critism of Trump for four years…

He was well passed that. His bout with cancer happened in 2004 with no reoccurances.
Ask a cancer survivor. Aggressive chemo damages aspects of your immune system permanently, particularly production and composition of B and helper T cells.

And, of course, we don’t really know whether he was permanently off anti-cancer meds or not.

Yet it’s ok to insert trump into every other post whether it’s actually about him or not.The crickets from those here and in the mainstream media re JB continued angry and nonsensical comments, says it all.

Donald Trump was elected as the leader of the United States. This is a national (international) crisis. The buck should never be passed down.

You must be on a different forum than me. Hey, I have an idea. Let us do a search for Breitbart and see how many threads that particular site has been quoted in.

edit - I just did that, I scrolled for a while and gave up trying to find an end. That is just one site.

When I look it up, that particular graph shows the U.S. at 13th. The site claims it was updated today at 3:00 p.m.

Think I’ll go with it.

So it sounds more like plain old vanity. Also, he didn’t need to wear one all the time, just when he’s in close contact with others.
My understanding is that all those around him are tested frequently. I doubt it’s vanity. It looks panicky in a leader to go around looking like he’s afraid when, actually, most people aren’t.

I’m guessing there are so many variables that none of this tells us very much. I don’t bring it up myself, but when anti-Trumpers give bad information in order to slam Trump for “causing Covid deaths”, I don’t like letting it go.

I understand this to a point. I can see why he would not always want to have a mask on when on camera. I think it is a mistake though when he does not wear one, on camera, in a situation he clearly should have. But I think I could write of this one as just a judgement error, except for all those who have mimicked his example out of loyalty to him.

So, when the twin towers were attacked, that should have just been Governor Pataki acting alone?

“There are 15 cases soon to be zero“ he stated that at the beginning of the pandemic.

Yesterday he states,

“It’s going away. It’ll go away. Things go away. No question in my mind that it will go away,” Trump said during a White House press briefing.

Yesterday.

Challenging statistics makes sense, if there is better information, or a quantifiable reason. I have seen this tactic use on the COVID statistics that are unflattering. I have not seen a lot in the way of reason though. When loved ones die, I do not see a statistically significant number of people thinking of politics when in mourning, nor do I see doctors using ICU’s and ventilators to make the president look bad.

Without a doubt some of these cases could well be instances where COVID was only a factor in the death, just as there could well be some where death from COVID was not counted. That is the problem with blind speculation.

It’s the stable genius who can remember, “ person, woman, man, camera, tv”.

Trump was not president then. How about when Portland protesters escalated to violence being an issue for the mayor of Portland, or illegal immigration along the Texas border being an issue for Governor Abbott? This “leave it to the local politicians” is used rather selectively.

Those are good words. He uses the best words. I would be happy if he could learn the meaning of “greatest”, “best”, and “responsibility.”

That was the first major national disaster I could think of.

I can’t understand 150,000 + deaths not falling under the job description of the Federal government.

Clearly it doesn’t make much difference re isolating healthy people for months at time as opposed to letting them go to work etc. The spikes we are seeing now were bound to happen.Originally the idea was to flatten the curve to allow time between spikes. No one ever said it was going away any time soon it will eventually go away either through a natural death or vaccine.
