Hun, i am migrain prone tooo…and it sucks when you have to move about with such pain. You remind me of St.Burnadette with the inner suffering you are experiencing. Just a thought to interceed with…all of the great holy woman have endured this tooo. And all i can say is that he chooses the woman he knows that can use this to find him. Somehow, we must thank him for the confidence he has in our abilities, and other times i feel like saying…love me no more, it hurts. But the prayer request when you imagine yourself with him is the “Gift to endure”.

This tells him you know that this will bring you closer to him, you just ask for relief of the pain so that you can do more for and with him. It says i have confidence in your plan Lord, and when you really mean it, he will answer this request.

On another note for the migrains. I get vertigo, disapearing center, strobing snowy tv on the side of my vision, and then the normal kind of deep deep pain. Over the years, i have learned a few things seeing eye specialists over this. Red wine is a definite trigger, nuts, cheese, salt, and odors in perfume (excluding musk ). But the Biggest trigger is flour…ah ha…any flower based food which is actually a bad carb. The good ones are fruits and vegetables and actually are helpful to keep them at bey.

You don’t have to go crazy…but i have lost tons (about 20/month when i follow this) All meats, dairy, fish, fruits and vegetables. Natural ones, not made up processed ones. Bread, gravies, subs, garlic bread are a definite migrain for me…pasta as well. But a friend found dreamfield pasta for me, and the family does not even know it is not regular pasta. Usually low carb foods are without taste.

So yes, use butter (natural) and i can now eat cheese as a side in meals. I love this. All canned products are extremely high in sodium…like cambels, etc. Chips are high too (look for Lays baby blue bag of low salt chips or regular ringalo’s) But sodium is in a lot of canned foods to hold the washed out flavors.

As for ice cream, i love shebert…made with milk instead of cream, or Chapmans capachino frozen yogurt ice cream. Pirate cookies have the low flour carb, recess PB cups, and Big turk. But recently i discovered the creamiest chocolate ever and you can not tell the difference where sweetners taste awful…Hershey’s sugar free indevidually wrapped squares.

As for drinks, i go straight to the Amaretto on ice…no headaches with that one. and it has a nice brandy warm feeling in a bath with candles. Nope, i do not count shots, as the relaxation is more important for the Tarry. BTW, the term Tarry is taken from the song, In The Garden. I feel the deep sorrow, and it draws me to the meditation.

here is Elvis singing it, but with lyrics to hear and read along to.

I have a favorite version of it, but i can not find it on YouTube right now. But you can not go wrong with the power house voice of Elvis. His spiritual stuff is good, and so is Josh Groban.

Heres a nice one that fits all ocasions. The speed and swell of it is prayerful, sad, or celibratory. I just found it, and i fell in love with it, and the group. I have not heard much of these guys, and thought they were all old fogies…But the main vocalist Guy Penrod just holds a presence of the lord in his eyes and singing.

Enjoy…

Lana,
I checked out those songs and they were really pretty. Actually, I have NEVER heard the Garden. What’s up with that??? It’s very pretty, though. So you can relate to the pain of migraines. It’s awful. I’m on week 3 for daily migraines. I see my neurologist today at 2. Wonder what she’ll say. Probably nothing. They’ve tried everything, and I mean EVERYTHING. Surgery is the next thing. Yuck.

Anyway, please keep praying for my dh. He’s like Jekyll & Hyde and I’m tired of trying to find out who he is going to be today. I’ll keep praying for your intentions as well. How are YOU doing? I hope you’re doing o.k. My prayers are for you today.

God bless you and thank you for all the inspiriing/funny advice you’ve given me. It really helps!

much love,

Father I ask Your blessing on all these wives and mothers, and bless You for the concern and support they give each other. In Jesus name

Computer problems…but wanted to tell you all that i never cease praying for you all. I need to add a request. My sister married, and has two step children 16 (F) and 18 (M). The F told her to check her brothers room, and not tell her brother she asked her to do so.

My sister found used needles in dressers, between the mattress, and used spoons and crack found under and hidden in the boxspring. Well they thought 6 months ago with re-hab he was on his way…unfortunately they had to be the ones to say, not here. He left in a cab with clothes in tow, and severly broke his fathers heart yelling back, “well it looks like you lost your son for good”

heart breaking…prayers needed for all.

I am just getting started at this, but boy, did I find the right thread to begin on!!! Thank God for all of you. I am not alone!

My husband and I have been married 25 years. In that time, he has probably gone to Mass about 25 times - including weddings, funerals, and our own children’s First Communions. It rips my heart out. He was baptized Catholic as an infant, but from what I understand, Mass was a social event while he was growing up. His family went to “show off”. At least that was his impression.

He still puts “Catholic” as his religious designation on his medical forms, but that is the only indication of Catholicism one can see. I pray from him, the kids pray for him, we have friends that pray for him. He really needs a conversion. He is so desperately unhappy. He is a very selfish individual and cannot see that he would be so much happier if he let God into his life. I tell my kids - loudly and in front of him - that if you seek to serve yourself, you will always be unhappy because you can never satisfy yourself; but if you seek to serve others, you will always be happy because you get such a good feeling from it. As you let go of your self, God fills you with His grace and that is a wonderful feeling. Selfless fill you better than selfish any day!

Please join me in prayer for all the unbelieving/unpracticing spouses and family members. They need all of our love and support - and we need each other!

Good morning all 👋 I have good news!

Yesterday DH was helping get the car seat set in my car (it had been in his car) so DD and I could go to Mass. DD (she’s 2 1/2 years old) said she wanted to sit in the front (like she always does) and we told her that no, she had to sit in her special seat. Then she said, “Daddy sit in front?” I didn’t say anything for a few seconds, then I said “You can come with us if you want to you know…” and DH said, “I know, but I’m not really dressed for church.” (He was still in pajamas.) I said, “Well, we can wait for you to get changed…”

So, he kissed DD and shut the door. He didn’t come over and say goodbye to me, he just went right back in the house. I wasn’t sure if he was going to change his clothes or if he was upset with me (I didn’t think he was, he usually just says no thank you to my invitation and kisses me goodbye).

I went in the house and called upstairs to him asking him if I was waiting for him and he said playfully, “I don’t know, are you?” So I went back outside with DD and waited. He came out a few minutes later dressed and we all went to Mass together! :extrahappy:

It was so wonderful having him there with us. Aside from the obvious spiritual joy, practically it was great too (since DD is getting to be a handful for this pregnant lady to handle alone!). DH sang some of the songs, including parts of the Mass, which was awesome to me! It was just so wonderful to be there together as a family. (DH usually attends Mass with us only on Christmas and Easter.)

On the way home we passed the church he grew up going to (a small Methodist one). That church got a new female pastor a few years ago and attendance has really dwindled…he commented that if the previous pastor was still there, he (DH) would be there right now. (I wasn’t thrilled with this, since I’m obviously praying for him to ultimately convert to Catholicism, but I said nothing.) Anyway, I’ve known he’s been searching for some time now regarding God and the fact that he wants to worship and that he went to Mass with us makes me so happy and thankful to God.

I know next week he might not go with us, and I’m trying to prepare myself for that possibility so I’m not totally let down. I’m just going to hold on to the joy from yesterday and continue praying for my DH and our family.

All praise and glory be to you Lord Jesus Christ, for hearing my prayers and touching my husband’s heart. Thank you Mary for your loving help, and thank you St. Monica for your intercession! 😃

I’d like to note that I’ve been praying the Rosary and chaplet of Divine Mercy almost daily with his conversion as one of my intentions. I just wanted to share that because praying the Rosary and chaplet of Divine Mercy have brought me great peace that I can’t explain…especially in light of our current employment/financial/etc. circumstances. I’m also in the middle of a novena to St. Monica: forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?p=4099990#post4099990

When I pray the chaplet of Divine Mercy, this is what I do: when I pray “For the sake of His sorrowful passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world” instead of “on us” I pray “have mercy on DH and on the whole world.” I usually do one decade for him, one decade for my kids, 2 decades for specific family members or family in general, and 1 decade for the sick and dying. I just wanted to share that with all of you.

One last thing: others have told us of positive steps forward with their spouses and/or kids and while I’m always thankful for these things, I often find myself wondering, “Why not in my family?” :o I don’t want anyone to take my good news and feel sad, wondering why not in their family. I know this is a baby step, and I’m just praying it’s a seed that will continue to grow. I know it may take until his deathbed, or it might happen tomorrow. I think God is trying to teach me patience (because the lack of it is a serious flaw of mine!). Anyway, I think I’m rambling now, but please, don’t let mine or anyone else’s good news discourage you – let it encourage you to continue your fervent prayers – I’ll be doing the same. Praying for all of you now. May God bless you all. :crossrc: :grouphug:
