That sounds fine in spirit, I think. The idea is to be constant in prayer, isn’t it? So far, I am keeping up, praying for my husband and those children who have strayed. I pray to St. Augustine, as well, since he must understand also.

That, or I could just start all over again. I would be more organized if I marked each day on the calendar. I just ordered an Organizer from the motherhoodpress.com and it should be here next week. 🙂 So I can always start when I get it.

I printed the prayer and the days that came with it. The mystery for that day is under it. Then I check them off each day. It’s worked so far…

Where do you see this? I’d love it if you could show me 🙂 Thank you so much.

Btw, I recommend www.maryundoerofknots.com - please visit it, especially those who’s marriages are on the rocks right now.

God bless, hugs,

Hi all! Just checking in to let all wives know that I’m praying for our husbands conversion (reversion). It’s tough to be in this situation. I am in it myself. But I’m holding onto hope. Other woman still won’t go away and husband doesn’t want her to…yuck! Anyway, I’ll keep the faith!!👍

Mom4truth, please also do this novena www.maryundoerofknots.com it’s not expensive to get the package (booklet, medal and rosary). I’ve got mine and am starting it today.

Imamom, This is post #229. I copied the prayer from the post and the schedule from the first link on top. Hope this helps.

PRAYER TO ST. MONICA for conversion of spouse

Dear St. Monica,
troubled wife and mother,
many sorrows pierced your heart during your lifetime.
Yet, you never despaired or lost faith.
With confidence, persistence, and profound faith,
you prayed daily for the conversion
of your beloved husband, Patricius,
and your beloved son, Augustine;
your prayers were answered.
Grant me that same fortitude, patience,
and trust in the Lord.
Intercede for me, dear St. Monica,
that God may favorably hear my plea for

The conversion of my husband, to Catholicism,

and grant me the grace to accept His Will in all things,
through Jesus Christ, our Lord,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.

Amen.

A question that recurs in my mind. What to do about deep, reasonable anger that someone will either not acknowledge or just say something like, “Well I TOLD you I’m sorry. Get over it.” This doesn’t really work for the kinds of things I am referring to. I know we are to forgive, but then what. OK, I’m not thirsting for revenge, but can’t pretend things didn’t happen that might happen again in one way or another. Just wondering and looking for some ideas.

Good morning, folks, just popping in to say hi, and I’m praying for you all and your various wayward spouses. :gopray2:

I am on day 10 of my 54 day Novena…woo hoo!👍

It’s funny to think, 10 days in, that by the time I get through the 54 days, my children will have been in school for a couple weeks! It will be fall!

(…running off to complete my rosary…:gopray: )

Yes, and so will us teachers!

I want to thank this thread for being here for us. I have tried to do 9 day Novenas in the past and have always messed them up. But doing it along with everyone else has helped me remember to do it every night. (Although I must admit a few nights I was finishing up at midnight, give or take a minute or two.)

I just finished day 25 with two more to go before I start thanking God for answering my prayers. Which is for my husband’s conversion as well as every one else’s spouse on this thread.

Keep the Faith!

Correction. It has been 24 days, with 3 left to go for the petition. Sorry, too many late nights, I counted wrong!

Wow, 25 days, good for you! 👍

I’m on day 11, praying for my husband’s faith as well. I am curious about the second half of the Novena - the thanking. I think it will feel odd, prayers of gratitude for something that hasn’t yet occurred. Please update us as to how it goes, your progress is very encouraging to me. I have found that I do best when I pray it in the morning, lest the day get a way from me and I find myself looking at midnight approaching and not completed for the day yet. This has happened to me a couple times, where I have scrambled to gt my prayers in. I am finding the summer makes my committed prayer life a bit tricky with kids home, lots of highway driving back and forth to our lake cottage, kids to and from camp, etc.

Have a blessed day! 🙂

Dh and I had a big long talk last night re: my confirmation Sunday. He still doesn’t see why it’s such a big deal. He’s read some articles I’ve sent him about the Eucharist and he is having trouble “wrapping his brain” around a lot of things, but transubstantiation especially.

He also asked me NOT to ask any saints to pray for him. I can pray for him to God, but I am not to invoke the intercession of Mary or any saints in Heaven.

The question immediately arises: Where does anyone get the right to demand a certain prayer life, or lack of it from someone else?

My thinking is, how would he ever know that you were praying to Mary/Saints?

Nothing wrong with doing a little “Covert” prayer…imho…😉

Hi, I guess I need to take your advice about doing the novena in the morning. (This morning I did it at Adoration so I am done, I think I will get to bed at a reasonable hour tonight!) Last week it was hard, my 15 year old was in Band Camp and it involved 3 different drop offs and pick ups at school (yes 6 trips!) This week she is dropped off at 8:15 and is there until 9 most nights. Except tonight, they go back for a dance at 9 until 11:30! Oops, another late night anyway.)

As far as the 27 days of thanksgiving I assume we just dedicate the rosary to God’s knowing what is best for us and our spouses and we are thanking Him for his answer. Even if it is in His time and His way and not ours.

A friend of my sisters used to work as a volunteer/novice with Mother Teresa in Calcuta, she said Mother Teresa often never asked God for help, but just prayed in Thanksgiving because she trusted He would always provide for their needs.

Here is a Prayer of Thanksgiving that I found for a different Saint. I changed it slightly to better fit our need for this novena. Feel free to use it or improve it!

St. Monica, God has helped me abundantly through your prayer and has strengthened me in my need. I thank God and I thank you. Accept this prayer and my serious resolve which I now renew, to live always in the love of Jesus and of my neighbor. Continue to pray to God for my family and for the final grace of our one day entering the kingdom of heaven to sing with you the everlasting mercies of God. Amen.

Still praying.

Thanks for the prayer, EW! 👍

I am on day 14 (I think) of my 54 day Novena.

Some good news - on Friday night, my hubby went with me to a mass and talk on marriage at our church. This is a miracle that he was willing to go. We went out after and had a long talk. I have not felt I had a voice to speak effectively to him on matters of faith, not in a long time, but I found my voice and was grateful our Lord put some words in my mouth!

Last night, we attended an event in honor of a Brother we have been aquainted with, and it was a large gathering of very Catholic people (made me realize what a blessed community I am part of 🙂 ), and again, this is really something, because he is not sociable by nature. I was encouraged to see him socializing with folks that, I hope, he will come to see as true friends, for these are such good, fine people, they can only have a postive influence towards his one day embracing Christ.

A couple of good days, some answered prayer for sure!
