Hi…I am new to this board and am not sure if anyone will even see this, but thank you for posting. My husband is baptized, confirmed, etc., and we married in the Church, but he is very hostile to my practice of the faith. I don’t like that my faith is an issue for us. He seems to have lost any faith.

Praying for all of you…

Okay, a little spark of good news.

Today, we were scrambling with one thing and another (we are heading out of town with 3 kids this week, crazy busy) and could not get to mass until 5 pm. Hubby said he would drive kids to church while I had to run a huge errand and then zip back for mass. As I was late getting in to mass, I crept intot he back and sat until i could find an appropriate moment to join my family. As I listened to Father’s homily, I was cringing to think what my husband’s reaction would be - I thought he might find ot very preachy and judgemental (based on today’s gospel, this is not surprising) even though, to me, it was Father at hid best (we have an amzing pastor, whom I love so much!)

Anyway, when I spoke with my husband, he said it as the best homily Father had ever given. Ever!

So there were a few special things - hubby offered to drive the kids to mass whle I ran an errand, not usual, he got them there on time (always an iffy situation) and he really liked the homily.

Many thanks were offered up tonight!
(we have to smile at the good stuff, right?😉 )

That is awesome!!! I am very happy. Every little step that they take counts!!! I’m very happy for you! I can relate to your joy and what this means. Let’s continue to pray that our Lord keeps calling him and he keeps on responding to God’s call.

I too had a similar experience yesterday. I too had to run errands and I asked my husband if he would take our daughter to mass because I had somethings to do and then I would go to a later mass or they could just wait and we would go to mass later all together. Well, he went ahead and took her to mass (without me)!!! Can you believe that! He actually went alone and decided to take my daughter to mass. I was so proud of him! Then later when I was done with my things I went to mass. We usually go together but I was just surprised that he was willing to take her without me because usually if I don’t go, he doesn’t go. Like I said it all counts even little steps! So I went ahead thanked my husband for what he did because I wanted him to know that I recognized his efforts. Let’s pray these little steps continue!! 😃

What wouldn’t I give/do so DH would become interested in the CC… :gopray: For some reason, last night I had this feeling in my gut, more like a thought in my mind, but anywho… that Dh would become interested and ask me if he could attend Mass with me. What wouldn’t I give if that actually happened! I felt so much joy when I thought about that… if only…

sandraladeda, you are most blessed!

To all you ladies, and if there are any gents as well, hope your DH’s or DW’s come home to the CC soon!!! I keep you all in my prayers!

I am so sorry.

I will definitely pray for you tonight. If you feel like talking about it, just let it out…by using the word hostile, I can tell that you are upset.

Welcome to CAF!

Hi. I don’t post all that often, but this is a great thread. I was born and raised Catholic. When I was a teenager, I ended up pregnant and married the guy. (non-Catholic). He was very much against the Catholic Church and we never went. I have two children from this marriage. It was an abusive marriage. I finally got the courage to divorce him while he was in jail (again). I met another guy later on. Also divorced and with two children. He had just started going to the baptist church. He and all 4 children were baptized there. We were also married there. I never really felt close to that or anyother church but the Catholic Church. We have been married 8 and half years. I finally decided I was going back to the Catholic Church. He still feels close to the baptist church since that is where we were married. He did, however, agree to go with me, if that is really what I wanted to do. We talked to the priest and we are now currently waiting to see about getting an annulment for my husband’s first marriage. My first husband has passed away. He is also enrolled for RCIA. We’ll see how that goes. He keeps telling me not to push this on him or it will draw him away. I’m trying not to, but it is hard. He also believes the children should make up their own minds where to go. 2 of the children have now left home. My son just came to me last week asking about it and we set up an appt. with the priest. It went really well. Now my daughter is interested. I’m really praying that my husband keeps going and that his 2 children will become interested. His son will go with us because he lives here with us, but I’m hoping he will take the classes. I’m in the process of getting my daughter enrolled. I’m just praying that my husband will keep going. It really helps living next door to the priest and having the church 1 block away. If he has questions that I can’t answer, he can just go next door. (We live in a very small town). I will be praying for all of you. God Bless.

Welcome home dlcac1999! I hope everything goes well for your family. Your news is so refreshing. I will keep you in my prayers.

This prayer was posted on an email loop I’m on, thought I’d share:

Dear Mother Mary, pray for us. You know what it’s like
to live with a wonderful, though all-too-human, husband.
Take our prayers now, and multiply them,
That God would meet our every need.

That we will be holy in our sufferings,
And loving in our words and deeds,
And patient when we are tempted to strangle
The one we love most …

Lord Jesus, You have given us the task
of helping each other all the way to heaven.
So in those moments when he cannot lead me,
Let him drive me instead
Straight to your Sacred Heart.

I really like that prayer. I am going to save it and print it out.👍
Thank you!

Day 54 completed! :extrahappy:
Well done! I am such a novena flunkie. :o We did pray/sing the Divine Mercy Chaplet in the car yesterday. I have the Rosary on CD that we’ll use on Friday. On those days we have to drive for about 15-20 minutes to get to play rehearsal, and the dc are a “captive audience.” 👍 My son Gabriel is very excited about using his new Rosary! (99-cent one from the Christian bookstore.)

I’m thinking about doing a Novena for St. Joseph’s intercession.

I’m thinking about doing a Novena for St. Joseph’s intercession.
Sounds good to me!!! Let me know when and which one!!! Actually, I think this is great as I ask St. Joseph for intercession for my husband quite often. Let me know and I am ready.

I think if we can get a couple of people to do it with us it will be even better!!! 👍

Any other takers?

That would be great Cagrl & katy and anyone else out there.
Here is the one I am using. I started yesterday, if you start today, then we can have a continuous row of novenas in his honor.

It’s from the Pieta prayer book.
