Staying, Leaving?

Those who leave commit spiritual suicide.
How? There are other Christian faiths to join. Of course one wouldn’t have the Eucharist. Rosary, Saints, Mama Mary and other Sacraments, but members of other faiths can have a strong spiritual life.

I wouldn’t think of leaving…why would I leave Truth because other people live a lie? It would be like starving myself because someone else was a glutton.

And how do you expect to maintain a state of grace without the sacraments? Seems like a mighty thin razor line to walk…

Well, as I said in my OP, I do plan to stay. I am very disappointed, though, and am beginning to feel suspicious and lacking trust in everybody, from the priests to the Pope.

Completely understandable. Pray, fast, get involved in your Church. The more faithful Catholics are VISIBLE and SEEN and INVOLVED in the life of the Church, both by the laity and by the leadership, the more opportunity you have to influence events.

Yes, I agree. And I feel this way even though, to my knowledge, none of my Churches have had bad priests.

Yes also his arrogant comment, “I will not say a single word about the allegations of McCarrick cover-up” It made me wonder why his lack of kindness toward the victims… very sad

“I will not say a single word about the allegations of McCarrick cover-up”
Why do you assume this is arrogance? Did not Jesus say ““You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.” ?

Did Jesus defend Himself against the accusations brought before Pilate?

Many holy men have not defended themselves against attack. Silence does not necessarily mean guilt and, in Christian charity, I don’t think we should assume it does.

Why do you believe Viagno vs Pope Francis? What makes his spoken word more credible than the spoken word of the Pope?
This is a HUGE “he said-she said” situation…there is no evidence or proof. To base your decisions and your feelings on one side arbitrarily really isn’t fair.

IMO, it’s because of the sudden change in the Popes normal reaction to various events. He usually is very outspoken about everything but all of a sudden, he’s clamming up.

Okay, I get that. But it’s still all hugely circumstantial. I’ll hold him accountable when it’s proven. Where’s the letter? The postmarked envelope? The email?

This is not a trial…we are not obliged to make a decision within a certain amount of time. I really do think that it violates Christian charity to call the Pope arrogant and find him guilty far, far before he’s proven innocent. I understand if you don’t agree, circumstantial evidence seems compelling, especially in a crisis, but I hope you will pray and discern a little further before deciding that he is guilty.

Eh, let’s all remember the dubia and his somewhat loud non-response to it…

I don’t believe he’s guilty of any wrongdoing at the moment; I’m just suspicious and have lost the trust I once had in him.
