They’re perfectly aware that how they feel inside diverges from their outward physical characteristics. And that divergence is not necessarily just a “psychological problem.”
Failure to see reality can be a problem.
Refusal to accept reality indicates mental issues.
If someone has a brain that has physically developed to identify as female but has a body that has physically developed to look male, then the reality is that the physical brain and the rest of the physical body are not aligned when it comes to issues of gender. If that’s what the physical reality turns out to be, why deny that reality? The physical brain and the rest of the physical body are both equally real.

Every cell of said brain and body are genetically coded as either male or female.

If someone believes they are the wrong sex (opposite their genetic makeup), that belief is in error.

Every cell of an AIS woman is genetically coded male. The phenotype (physical characteristics) of the body is indisputably female. Born that way.

Your point is?

I wouldn’t go so far as to say that every cell in a person’s body is either male or female and that cells have a gender. DNA is like a set of instruction but sometimes the instructions don’t get followed so that someone who is XY still is born and grows up looking female.

If you wish to argue to an exception, go ahead.
But that is not the gist of this thread.

What most here have been objecting to is surgically mutilating someone instead of treating the underlying psychological problems.

Are you talking about malformed or diseased organs? Or are you also trying to argue the exception to be the rule?
Most people with AIS don’t look “malformed” or “diseased”. They look like any normal female which is what every baby would look like if it weren’t for the testosterone that makes some of them come out looking male.

So, how do you treat someone’s gender dysphoria? You insist on calling this a “psychological problem,” but it is more likely a brain issue.

As I pointed out, many, perhaps most “psychological issues” are really brain issues. If someone has ADHD, for example, it’s not really a “psychological issue.” Instead, it’s a brain issue which is probably caused by a problem involving the neurotransmitter dopamine.

Lots of prayer. Gender and other forms of psychiatric dysphoria involves a spiritual battle. There are two ways to handle the cross that has been given, seek help from Almighty God despite continual falls or find a medical solution which the world deems is good enough.

Certainly after the medical intervention, the transgender person can and must turn to God for help. But the person who went against what God blessed them with, and against His ordered creation, will have to live with the reality of what they have done (like Nathaniel, Sydney Wright and so many others) for the remainder of their lives. What steps will they take: anti-depressants or spiritual counsel, only God knows.

The Lives of the Saints show heroic acts by individuals who struggled with their inner conflicts, and trusted Our Lord. Perhaps the gender dysphoric person needs to hear those stories to realize they are not alone.

So, it’s a spiritual issue and not just some sort of organic brain issue? And why would dysphoria be any different from all the other psychiatric conditions like ADHD or bipolar disorder or OCD or schizophrenia, etc. All of those probably have some genetic component and involve a malfunction in the brain. Prayer isn’t going to make them go away, so why would prayer make gender dysphoria go away?

Straw man.
The exact phrase was “involves a spiritual battle”.
Not at all what you imply by setting up a false dichotomy.

Prayer helps. Particularly when we do not have answers on our own.

In other words, we should blame it on our genes, because the genes made me do it.
If someone has OCD and engages in various kinds of compulsive behaviors, they can blame this at least partly on their genes since OCD has a genetic component.

Cool. Now I can blame it on my genes. It isn’t my fault at all. Adam and Eve passed me the wrong genes.

Makes sense to me. I’ve been saying for years that laws against public intoxication discriminate against alcoholics. Research strongly suggests that addictions are largely genetic. In layman’s terms, born that way.

If someone is genetically predisposed to drunkenness whereas others aren’t, that can certainly be blamed to some extent on their genes. Such a person, knowing about their genetic predisposition, would be wise to avoid ever drinking any alcohol or going to places where they might be tempted to drink alcohol and that in fact is what many alcoholics do.

On the other hand, if someone has OCD and can’t stop worrying every time they leave the house that perhaps they left the door unlocked, that is hardly their fault and their OCD can indeed be blamed partly on their genes. Such a person can’t realistically avoid the situation that causes them to worry excessively. The only option would probably be to take some sort of medication to help them to better handle the symptoms of their OCD.

Actually, cognitive=behavioral therapy is utilized to treat OCD which is a disorder.
Some argue that therapies might be s suitable way of addressing challenges of identity confusion,

Yes, CBT can probably help with some people who have OCD and it might be even more effective in conjunction with medication. I have ADHD which is a neurodevelopmental disorder and have tried CBT along with medication to help manage its symptoms. I’m not certain if the CBT has helped me very much or not. It probably doesn’t work on everyone, and at least for me, medication has been the more effective component of my treatment. Most studies have found that using both medication and CBT or some other form of therapy is probably the best way to treat most of these kinds of disorders. I haven’t read of any studies which report that CBT is effective for treating gender dysphoria, however.

which is known to be very tranny friendly
Come on. “Tranny”? Really? Another reason why I am just about ready to give up on this site.
Do not tell me we do not have a rash of people suffering from some serious sexual confusion.
I imagine that they’ve always been there but have only recently felt able to come out in the open with it.
You clearly have no understanding of what mutilation is.

Mutilation serves no medical purpose.
Some people on CAF are pretty obsessed with the word “mutilation” whenever this topic comes up.
No it doesn’t. It only serves the devil’s purpose to sow doubt, confusion and denial of God’s holy creation.
Man and woman He created them.
No what doesn’t what? Its unclear what your comment is replying to. Your comment is oversimplifying something that is in reality much more complicated.
This subject touches a raw nerve. Can anyone here please explain why the left promotes, and in fact teaches this horror to young children without any concern whatsoever for the damage they’re causing these young minds??? I can’t help but believe that these kids are being used as lab rabbits for the LGBT’s sick agenda. What an absolute abomination!
What does this have to do with “the left”? I didn’t know it was a left/right issue. Can transgender teens be cured by reading The Road to Serfdom? Not sure what the LGBT agenda is, although I’m sure a dose of Milton Friedman would sort them out.
I would also bring up the inevitability of sexual perversion in democracies
My mind is well and truly boggled now. Who knew that democracy could lead to such things? Well, I guess it was invented by the ancient Greeks, and we all know what they got up to…
