Back to study of Qur’an… The question was asked above by Martin…
What is the Qur’anic understanding of the Eucharist?

MJ
Personally I’m unsure but have some ideas that may interest you and encourage further study…

There is a verse in the Qur’an (fifth) Surih Al-Ma’idah and aya 112-113 that refers to a table from heaven:

*When the disciples said: O Jesus, son of Mary, is thy Lord able to send down food to us from heaven? He said: Keep your duty to Allåh if you are believers.

113 They said: We desire to eat of it, and that our hearts should be at rest, and that we may know that thou hast indeed spoken truth to us, and that we may be witnesses thereof.
*

One commentary reads:

Må’idah is from måda, which has two meanings: (1) it became in a state of motion, and (2) he conferred a benefit or favour on him. According to R, måda-nß means he gave me food, and må’idah means both, a table with food on it, and food. It also means knowledge, because knowledge is the nutriment for hearts, as food is the nutriment for bodies (R). A table without food is not called må’idah (LL).

Is the “table from heaven” in the Quran related in some way to the “eucharist”? More study is needed.

Where in the Bible does it say that human reason is NOT a spiritual matter??

.
1 cor chapter 2

9 but it is as scripture says: What no eye has seen and no ear has heard, what the mind of man cannot visualise; all that God has prepared for those who love him;

10 to us, though, God has given revelation through the Spirit, for the Spirit explores the depths of everything, even the depths of God.

11 After all, is there anyone who knows the qualities of anyone except his own spirit, within him; and in the same way, nobody knows the qualities of God except the Spirit of God.

12 Now, the Spirit we have received is not the spirit of the world but God’s own Spirit, so that we may understand the lavish gifts God has given us.

13 And these are what we speak of, not in the terms learnt from human philosophy, but in terms learnt from the Spirit, fitting spiritual language to spiritual things.

But isnt this about studying the quran?

I can say you are sincere by stating you are unsure. Much appreciated. And that is a very logical and intellectually honest response. Thank you.🙂

It does require further study and I pray that Muslims do this. Analyze the Faith and trace the words of Jesus, by naming the people who knew him and lived with him and follow Tradition passed on by Jesus’ disciples, this is only fair.

I’m sure anyone taking Jesus seriously will take this task head on. Any believer’s of the Quran willing to search the life of Jesus really and truly by those who were in touch with him, who can put together a clear and constructive analysis, I hope will contribute in this thread. Coordination will be order of the day. God be with you.🙂

And we speak of these things in words not taught by human wisdom** but taught by the** Spirit,** interpreting **spiritual things to those who are spiritual.[d]

Those who are unspiritual do not receive the gifts of God’s Spirit, for they are foolishness to them, and they are unable to understand them because they are** discerned spiritually**. 15 Those who are spiritual discern all things, and they are themselves subject to no one else’s scrutiny.

And so by this you conclude that reason is not a spiritual matter and yet the Catholic Church concludes:

“In its general sense, therefore, reason may be attributed to God, and an angel may be called rational.”

I sometimes wonder what is the spirit of our dialogue?

Does not exist in Quranic understanding nor is it written in their books.
The Eucharist is essentially a mystic experience with the Divine where blessings and forgiveness are received.

In the Quran they also have a Muslim Eucharist but it is by reciting and listening to the Quan being read and it is also a mystical experience linking thrm with the Divine

7:204 If the Quran is being recited, then listen to it and pay attention, so that you may receive mercy. 7:205 Remember your Lord in yourself out of humility and fear,

He’s doing that as we speak 🙂

Right here, right now 🙂

It’s a privilege to be living in the Day of God…

Catechism of the Catholic Church 1001 "Definitively “at the last day,” "at the end of the world.“557 Indeed, the resurrection of the dead is closely associated with Christ’s Parousia: For the Lord himself will descend from heaven, with a cry of command, with the archangel’s call, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.”

You say this is happening “Right here, right now”?

Is this better for you Servant 19 …

“It is the spirit that gives life, while the flesh is of no avail. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.” John 6:63

The flesh (human wisdom ) is of no avail in trying to understand Supernatural spiritual things like the Trinity and the Eucharist .

Catechism of the Catholic Church 1366 The Eucharist is thus a sacrifice because it re-presents (makes present) the sacrifice of the cross, because it is its memorial and because it applies its fruit:
[Christ], our Lord and God, was once and for all to offer himself to God the Father by his death on the altar of the cross, to accomplish there an everlasting redemption. But because his priesthood was not to end with his death, at the Last Supper “on the night when he was betrayed,” [he wanted] to leave to his beloved spouse the Church a visible sacrifice (as the nature of man demands) by which the bloody sacrifice which he was to accomplish once for all on the cross would be re-presented, its memory perpetuated until the end of the world, and its salutary power be applied to the forgiveness of the sins we daily commit.

New International Version
The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you–they are full of the Spirit and life.

New Living Translation
The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

Weymouth New Testament
It is the spirit which gives Life. The flesh confers no benefit whatever. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and are Life.

English Standard Version
It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

Berean Study Bible
The Spirit gives life;** the flesh profits nothing**. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.

NET Bible
The Spirit is the one who gives life;** human nature is of no help!** The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.

Contemporary English Version (CEV)
The Spirit is the one who gives life! Human strength can do nothing. The words that I have spoken to you are from that life-giving Spirit.

Mounce Reverse-Interlinear New Testament (MOUNCE)
It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is useless. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

Good News Translation (GNT)
What gives life is God’s Spirit;** human power is of no use at all**. The words I have spoken to you bring God’s life-giving Spirit.

For the** mind** of the flesh is death; but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace:
Romans 8:6

Jesus…“The words I have spoken to you are** spirit and are Life**”.

I think what he means is Jesus has already returned as…Muhammad, Báb and Bahá’u’lláh, and there’s more to come.

The Koran also talks about the 2nd coming of Christ as the Bible also does.

A study of both The Bible and Koran need to be undertaken. Funny how both Religions teach no more Prophecy after each of Christ and Muhammad, even though they wait for a “Return” in one way or another.

One God one purpose is the key of understanding, the key to unlock the meaning of the Books. The Key that foretold in Daniel and the key that unlocked the Book of Revelation.

So who is it that will return ?

You say this is happening “Right here, right now”?
Yes Mankind is in Judgement Day.

The Koran and the Bible contain many verses on this subject, in fact they exist for this very day. Jesus Christ and Muhammad gave their Message to man for “This Day”.

As you can see this is no insignificant Revelation as it is what the Prophet’s have come for, what man from the beginning has Lived and Died for and in The Case of Jesus Christ Gave His life so we could prepare for.

Yes, with absolute conviction, yes.

The cry of command, the archangels call, the sound of the trumpet blasts is the Revelation of Baha’u’llah.
The authentic, untampered Voice of God is being heard on every corner of the globe at last.

Hallelujah! Rejoice!!

Well we always get there eventually brother 😃
Wish you wouldn’t put me through all that worry for your soul though…

But please remember that wisdom is also a spiritual quality when it is overtaken by the spirit of Revelation. Man-made wisdom is flesh, yes, but spirit-made wisdom is a light to the world.

Yes, again correct, there is no Baha’i on earth who is making HUMAN EFFORTS to accomplish the unification of mankind.

It is the HOLY SPIRIT, and only the Holy Spirit who is working through us to accomplish the Will of the Father.

Matt 7:21 Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
