The Short list:

Genesis 8:21
Psalm 9:15-16
Isaiah 2:19
Isaiah 66:15-16
Jeremiah 25:32-33
Luke 12:49

I don’t think that Russia has any interest in doing these things. In any event these are much less of a disaster than a global nuclear war.

“…our continued deployment of nukes will lead to a global nuclear war in the 21st century. That is not a conjecture, it is carved in stone by Holy Scripture.”

I just read all those citations. I did not see anything about nuclear war, war of any kind or the 21st century. You can make what interpretations you want, but I see nothing “carved in stone.” Those details are all on you.

Isaiah 66:15-16 predicts a judgment by fire on all of humanity. Jeremiah 25:32 says that the disaster will spread from nation to nation, and that a “might tempest” will rise from the far ends of the world. 25:33 calls for the dead to be scattered across the face of the earth with no one left to bury them. But Genesis 8:21 forbids this predicted disaster from being any kind of “act of God.” So it can’t be a volcanic eruption or a asteroid/comet strike. That leaves only global nuclear war as the possible instrument to fulfill these dire prophecies.

More recent visions fit this scenario as well. The warning of Our Lady of Akita predicts a disaster of “fire from the sky” that will be even greater than the Deluge. Luke 12:49 is yet another (with my apologies to the Catechism which has a different interpretation.)

So, really, by the process of elimination, we are left with Global Nuclear War as the only possible way for the dire prophecies of Scripture to be fulfilled.

Our Lady of Akita
While then Cardinal Ratzinger lent some credence to Akitia, it was not a Vatican approval. The Catholic Church position is, “Akita is not an approved apparition and the apocalyptic warnings we have read recently are not ‘worthy of belief.’”

Nuclear weapons will always be a necessity until they become obsolete. The only reason why war is fought through proxy and not total war post-WW2 is because of nuclear weapons.

What do people think?
This site/video will give you some perspective. I think Nuclear weapons have actually saved millions of civilian lives. Near the end of the video, they talk about ‘The Long Peace’

If you like the video, they have an interactive version where you can drill down on the numbers:

They also have another analysis just on the Nuclear threat, They do a good job of highlighting the potential death count if we went to all out nuclear strikes.

Russia’s not the problem with this right now. The problem is people who are frankly crazy like the leaders in Iran or North Korea.

Assuming that nuclear weapons are to be the means of our chastisement, then would removing them without amending the reason we are to be chastised not be trying to cheat the system?

Do nuclear weapons exist to punish us because we possess them, or because of crimes that we commit?

Would the answer not be to not focus on the weapons, but to focus on the crimes for which they exist to punish?

Did Mary not say that the last battle would be on the family? Is that not then the key, rather than whether or not we possess nuclear weapons? And is the solution not to do as Mary asked us of Fatima and Pontevedra? Pray the Rosary, pray for sinners, do the First Five Saturdays devotion?

If our punishment by such a fire is inevitable then why did Mary appear?

The North Korean leadership is the most rational bunch of politicians the world has. They are anything but crazy. They calculate every move to the Nth degree and are completely morally-neutral.

There’s no reason to think that any of those countries are run by crazy people. Any small country on bad terms with the US and an internet connection to watch Gaddafi being tortured/killed (after agreeing to give up his nuclear program to avoid being toppled by the US), has every reason to want a nuclear arsenal. It’s a master card in international relations that protects countries from being invaded.

Agree about Russia not being a problem either.

Is putting 130,000 political adversaries in camps rational?
They calculate every move to the Nth degree and are completely morally-neutral.
Moral neutrality is a myth. Dante said some of the hottest places in Hell are reserved for those who don’t take a stand.

But that’s hardly North Korea. Their regime is selfish and is built off the backs of malnourished, oppressed millions.

Sadly it’s perfectly rational. Think of it another way, there are two possible futures for the Kim Dynasty.
  1. End up like Saddam Hussein or Colonel Gaddafi
  2. Carry on with more of the same

That is false. All threats are threats. And they are watched 24/7.

From the invention of Atomic chain reaction which is
what the Atomic bomb is caused by, we get the needed
information to HARNESS this energy by building Atomic
Reactors which generate energy. Therefore it was not
ALL bad that the Atomic bomb was invented. Today
Canada is on the forefront of Atomic Energy Generation.

It is bad. Nuclear reactors can and have melted down. The spent fuel rods have to be stored in water-filled tanks to keep from releasing radioactive contamination into the air. Atomic Energy is about to be abandoned and replaced by other sources, including solar energy, which is safe. The primary hurdle of storing the energy for use at night has been overcome and more sites are being built.

I applaud Germany for abandoning atomic power.

Canada has developed the CANDU reactor which can be refueled without being shut down.

Curious posters and readers should check out the CANDU system.

However, FRANCE decided it would no longer be open to energy blackmail. SO, France developed its own nuclear power industry. So, while whereas most countries get 20% or 30% of their electricity from nuclear, France gets about 80% of its electricity from nuclear physics.

And the nuclear physics includes research into reprocessing used nuclear fuel.

Thanx for this important info, I know that CANDU used
to be quite popular in the 80’s.
