Everyone is entitled to an opinion. I do not know Ms Venker, had never heard her name until this thread, I would likely not consider her opinion when forming my conscience. For me, I look to my own pastor, Bishop and to the USCCB.

I dare say that countries/states/cities that will ban abortion
Would you clarify what “ban” means in your mind?

For me, “ban” means every direct abortion, no exceptions, no loopholes.

The headline is wrong.

Either it is immoral for anybody to vote Democrat, or not.

Being Catholic has nothing to do with it.

Because we have a law that allows the killing of unborn people, our nation, the United States of America, is under God’s WRATH, and the only thing that is keeping our nation in existence is the prayers of millions of Christians and Jews who plead with God to have mercy on us.
Do you have a document from the Church that reveals this? As the US did not exist when Scripture was written, we cannot simply appropriate Scripture about the ancient peoples. That is a sort of almost narcissism. If this is a spiritual reality, our Church will have at least one official document that explains it to us.

I am also a convert, I grew up being taught that every bit of Old Testament could be applied to the USA. I know how difficult it is to stop that thinking.

God is not a single issue God, and do you think that God is only concerned about the non-exemption abortions? Not about IVF or human trafficking or torture or abandonment of the poor, the orphans, the widows?

Well, nothing against Trump Supporters but I couldn’t imagine voting for Trump. I would vote for Jeb Bush or Rick Santorum or Marco Rubio, but I just couldn’t vote for Trump. The Economy is doing great, but really all elements are in place for a bad recession. The Savings and Loans practices are still there, companies are over-leveraged, the average household is in debt, a simple hospital bill could send someone into bankruptcy.

Again, I’m not too happy with the Democrats either and honestly it seems Trump will be re-elected. I don’t know about the long term policy of his NAFTA revamp or China Trade Deal. The country is 1 Trillion in debt. The manufacturing industry is already in recession. Potentially, the stock market is inflated because of all the cheap money global monetary policy makers have injected. I don’t know when the next recession will happen, but I hope it’s not an Earth changing one like 2000 and 2008. Both of which created a deeper wealth divide.

My best advice to anyone is own a home without a mortgage in a community you love and worry about the local issues. It doesn’t seem either party at the Federal Level is doing anything to solve any problems at the local level. Only your local politicians can do that.

Then I’m reminded of Psalm 95

Today, if only you would hear his voice,
8 “Do not harden your hearts as you did at Meribah,[a]
as you did that day at Massah in the wilderness,
9 where your ancestors tested me;
they tried me, though they had seen what I did.
10 For forty years I was angry with that generation;
I said, ‘They are a people whose hearts go astray,
and they have not known my ways.’
11 So I declared on oath in my anger,
‘They shall never enter my rest.’”

Well, it’s forty years since the seventies and secularism in America. Could be some bad times coming ahead.

Greetings in Christ,
I completely agree.
I think the GOP is too right-wing and I consider myself a centrist. Though I am an independent voter, I almost always support Republicans because the Democratic Party has become highly leftist. While the GOP is moving too much to the right, they still are usually much more moderate than the Democratic Party.

God bless and Mary keep you

The biggest issues of the day are income inequality and racism
what have the democrats done about inequality?
we should vote for candidates who are against social security, medicare, medicaid, affordable health care, a higher minimum wage, tax cuts for the middle and working class, sensible gun control laws, protecting our environment, etc.?
where do you find these people to vote for? the dem candidates are going to destroy the middle class. who do you think will pay for their freebies, it won’t be the rich. listen to Bernie!
For me, I look to my own pastor, Bishop and to the USCCB.
the bishops and pope prioritized abortion, have your pastor and bishop done the same?
Do you have a document from the Church that reveals this?
there are a lot of things the church doesn’t have documents on.

abortion is final, how to deal with social issues are not, there can be more than one social solution.

the Dems have more than one issue against church teaching. the Dems have abandoned the poor and bellied up to the bar with the rich.

there are a lot of things the church doesn’t have documents on.
Sure. The Church doesn’t have documents on things that do not exist, like this type of prophecy. Right or wrong, if the Church does not have documents on something, it is not part of what the Catholic Church teaches.

I do find it ironic that on boards I’m constantly chided to vote for the pro-life party, when in fact I am a registered member of a party that is truly anti abortion and pro life across the board. How the elephant has convinced people that they are “pro life”, and convinced me for more than half of my life, is a mystery.

has this been updated with what they just passed this fall prioritizing abortion?
How forcefully to describe the church’s opposition to abortion was a topic of debate during the editing process. The phrase “preeminent priority” was added to the letter after at least four bishops—Archbishop Joseph Naumann, Archbishop Paul Coakley, Archbishop Alexander Sample and Bishop James Conley—submitted amendments requesting the change. Archbishop Sample offered an explanation for the request.

“We are at a unique moment with the upcoming election cycle to make a real challenge to Roe v. Wade, given the possible changes to the Supreme Court,” he wrote. “We should not dilute our efforts to protect the unborn.” (bold mine for emphasis)
I am a registered member of a party that is truly anti abortion and pro life across the board.
this party does not anywhere say it won’t have exemptions and implies it will by stating they will restrict abortion. they don’t appear to be 100%

USCCB website offers the official version of all of their documents.

Somebody should tell this nice young person that Rome was not built in a day, and the policies she wants will not be built in a day either. Trump has done much more than simply show up at the March; he is not capable of writing legislation - that is the duty of the Legislature, which currently and more than the length of this administration has a House which is far, far more interested in finding a way to remove this President than it is in addressing any of the legislation she wishes for - or for that matter, almost any legislation.

She might want to do a bit of research, to wit: count all the cases in which the Supreme Court from its very beginning has completely reversed itself. She won’t need many fingers, which is why Judge Kavanaugh made the statement he made. He did not say that the case should not be incrementally modified, but stare decisis is one of the strongest rules guiding the Court.

I will not take the rest of her article line by line, but what she wants is for her party to do what her party will not even acknowledge.

What Democrats have done, I think, is important in deciding whether to give them more political power. But all I have to do is to take them at their own words. They want me to pay for abortions forcing my cooperation with evil. Sorry, no can do.

But while many Democrats want to repeal the amendment, Republicans want to make it permanent.

A measure sponsored by Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) known as the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act, failed in the Senate in January but would have written the Hyde amendment into federal law so that it doesn’t need to be renewed each year.

The biggest issues of the day are income inequality and racism. If you check the facts - not Republican propaganda - you’ll see that the Abortion rate was declining, but since Trump cut many social program budgets that helped the poor, Abortions are increasing in women below the poverty line. The Republicans are for the rich - check the facts please…
Making Abortion illegal will not fix the moral condition of the country - that will take social action and influence that can only come through compassionate care of mothers and their babies. Don’t vote on one issue. The Republican party had the majority of the government control since 1974 (check the history) they did not reduce the Abortion rate during this time. It actually declined under Obama…again, check the facts!!!
I take it that you vote for the abortionists.

… check the facts!!!
OK.
President Trump is the most pro-life president in history.

Donald Trump and Mike Pence campaigned on the promise to defend life from its earliest stage and to defund Planned Parenthood. They have kept those promises.

And I need you to take a specific step today to thank them and make sure they can continue fulfilling their pro-life commitment. I’ll give you details below.

But first, consider these accomplishments:
  • President Trump signed a bill that allowed states to defund Planned Parenthood of Title X (family planning) funding, reversing an Obama attempt to force states to fund abortion providers.
  • He reversed an Obama Administration policy that blocked states from deciding if Planned Parenthood should be stripped of Medicaid funding.
  • He finalized the Protect Life Rule, cutting Planned Parenthood’s federal funding by $60 million.
  • The Trump-Pence administration reinstated the Mexico City Policy that ends federal funding of overseas abortions. The Protecting Life in Global Health Assistance program safeguards more than $8.8 BILLION in overseas aid from being used for abortions.
  • President Trump has appointed 191 federal judges – including two Supreme Court justices – who uphold the pro-life view that all life is sacred from the moment of conception.
  • President Trump has urged Congress to vote to protect innocent human life by passing the following bills:
    • No-Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act of 2019.
    • Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.
    • Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act
  • The Trump-Pence administration has issued new guidance ensuring hospitals provide medical care to infants who survive abortions.
  • The current administration has proposed numerous resolutions to fight the Obama era pro-abortion policies.
    • Require Obamacare insurers to issue separate invoices for abortion coverage.
    • Require Obamacare insurers to provide clients an identical plan in the same geographic area that does not provide coverage of abortion.
    • Reverse the Obama policy that made recipients of certain federal funding provide abortions.

Some more facts:
  • President Trump has taken the pro-life movement to the world stage: The administration opposes the efforts of the United Nations to make abortion an international human right.
  • The Trump-Pence administration has taken steps to protect pro-life organizations from having to provide abortion referrals or cover abortion in their health insurance plans.
  • The Department of Health and Human Services has dramatically shifted in placing value on the unborn.
    • Funding for fetal tissue research – which uses aborted human body parts - has been cut.
    • HHS’ newly created Conscience and Religious Freedom Division fights for doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals who do not wish to have any part in abortions.
    • The Trump-Pence administration is protecting all Americans’ First Amendment rights.
  • President Trump and Vice President Pence’s stance on life stands in stark contrast with all of the Democrat candidates.
    • Every single Democrat running for President wholeheartedly endorses abortion until birth and abortion without restriction.
    • Democrat candidates’ polices would provide abortion procedures for free at the expense of the hardworking American tax dollars.
Beyond expressing support for all the president has accomplished in his first term, you can play a vital role in ensuring he is re-elected. Imagine what he can achieve with four more years?

President Trump has asked me to co-chair the Pro-Life Voices for Trump Advisory Board. Priests for Life Executive Director Janet Morana and Evangelist Alveda King, full-time director of our Civil Rights for the Unborn outreach, also serve on the board. Our purpose is to educate all voters about the pro-life progress that has been made under the Trump Administration, and mobilize grassroots people to support him.
Sincerely,
