Other Christian groups have women priests and bishops. The fact remains that the Catholic church does not.

And how many female high lamas have there been? How many Buddhism schools teach that females must be reborn male to obtain enlightenment?

Misogynists!

Watch out for the proverbial beam in your eye, sir.

Other groups have people they call bishop and priest. It is not the same role as in the Catholic Church.
Anglicans and the Orthodox have priests (one who offers sacrifices) and bishops (an overseer of a district and the one who ordains priests). That we believe that those men don’t have the same powers as our clergy doesn’t change the fact that they are bishops and priests.

I have never made the claim that Buddhism does not discriminate. As you have pointed out, it does.

What I am objecting to is the claim that the Catholic Church does not discriminate. It does.

It is not possible to fulfill the office without having the power.
No one is claiming that their bishops have the same powers as Catholic bishops, nor that their priests can confect the Eucharist the same as Catholic priests. They are not fulfilling CATHOLIC offices, but those of their own faiths.

Then we are left with the knowledge that the office within their faith is not the same role as the office within the Catholic faith.

The office is just a name, the function is where the differences lie.
An Anglican Bishop cannot (and does not) serve the same function as a Catholic Bishop.

My priest can hear my confession and confer forgiveness.

The ‘Office’ of one faith does not have a direct translation to a similar office in another.

That’s okay. I’m going to start eating there because of their outspoken support for traditional marriage…so I’ll make up for the income they lose from you. 😃
👍 That’s great Mickey I’m sure they’ll appreciate your business. I won’t be surprised if I have another sandwich and shake myself at some pt. I don’t actually believe I can bring them down any more than people protesting gay marriage can bring down large corporations like Target or JCP. Enjoy! Yum!

Some aspects are. The bishop of any faith can, just like a Catholic bishop, be in charge of a diocese or similar geographical area with the parishes and priests of that denomination subject to his authority. And, to be sure, such bishops can ordain men within their denominations because ordination is the process by which individuals are consecrated, that is, set apart as clergy to perform various religious rites and ceremonies.

And vice-versa.
My priest can hear my confession and confer forgiveness.
I would hope so!

Perhaps not, but the duties of those offices are the same. I live in the Diocese of Little Rock; Anglicans live in the Diocese of Arkansas. Both my bishop and theirs are in charge of their dioceses and can ordain or consecrate men to the office of priest of their respective faiths. What each bishop does is, as you say, not directly translatable.

Target was instrumental in restoring my sight. My vision was quite poor but their optical dept came up with an idea which restored my vision in one eye to 20/20 without me needing to pay for another surgery which is what I had been told was necessary before I went to Target.

If you’re looking for a better tasting sandwich, however, go to Wendy’s. Leave the support for Mike Huckabee to others.

When other Christian “groups” confect the Eucharist, come back and post again, mkay?

Claims that the Catholic Church does not discriminate against women are false. I realise that theological justifications are proposed for this discrimination, but that does not negate the fact that the discrimination exists and is officially supported by the Catholic Church.

Again, only if you define discrimination any way you choose, which you have done. I am not going to continue arguing in circles with someone who refuses to address specific points.

One could say God discriminates against men by not allowing them to give birth. Never mind, you won’t address that either.

Like I said, whatever makes you sleep better. It’s the number of “wins” on internet word games that really matter in life, after all.

I am glad that you agree with me, that the Catholic Church does discriminate.

Explain how? Jesus made the rule. The Church follows the rules. We are only doing what Jesus commanded. Maybe there is a reason that women can’t be priest. Does mother nature discriminate against a pig because it can’t fly?

I agree. So i will say. That no matter what ads target decides to run. The Church can only stick to the laws laid down by Jesus. So i targets runs pro gay ads or equally a stupid idea as say for example, pro female Catholic priest ads. etc. We can all in good concience ignore it and not be bigoted or sexist. As Gods law is the true law. And the law of fact cannot be biggoted or sexist. It just is, what it is.

I just saw a JCP ad tonight advertising free back to school haircuts for school children. That’s a very nice and charitable thing for them to do I thought. They won’t be taking those folks money either. I wonder if Ellen gave them the idea.
Learned today of a Church of Christ in our area doing the same thing. They are having a school supplies and back-to-school haircut “fair”. I’m glad to see it, and it keeps people from turning to JCP for this service. 👍

I was in Target yesterday. I looked for the ad, checking the front and all around wedding gift kiosks. No such ad was up, so I guess I get to keep shopping there.
