InJesus and Cathopologist, you are closing your eyes to the the King Soloman ( a great Jew) for having 300 wives and 1000 concubines. How come? Did he not know the law. Did he disobey the law? King david had more than one wife. One very young girl was provided to king David in his very old and cold age to heat him up. But it did not work.
planten, didn’t i mention even Biblical kings had to pay a hefty price for their frivolous ways? There is no doubt the kings practised polygamy for concupiscence reasons. I know you never read the Bible, rather depend on hearsay from your Imams on Christianity. Read 2 Samuel 11:2-27 and at the last verse, it says, “But the thing David had done displeased the Lord.”
“Thou shalt not commit adultery” - it does not only mean
not courting your neighbour’s wives
but also possession of other women to be your wives/partners. In the OT, such Biblical laws never really reached the conscience and ethos of that generation and many well-to-do Israelites took advantage of such situations, despite stiff penalties (Leviticus 20:10 and Deuteronomy 22:22) legislated from Our Lord Himself.
I do not believe you for what you are saying. You are just avoiding a serious discrepancy in your system and trying to blame Islam. That will not do.
planten does not believe in anything or anyone other than himself - everyone knows this. We have never avoided your sometimes offensive remarks or questions and have always answered each and everyone of them. It is you who has never followed up on our questions to you and always avoid it by mudslinging our religion.
I would like to know where did OT teach One wife for One man. I believe this is not true. Also there is nothing in the NT about One man one wife. At the time of Jesus, many people had more than one wife. Even Joseph the carpentar, the father of Jesus had two wives. One of them was Mary.
Do you always make up stories as you go? Is this how you are in person as well? If so, i can imagine you losing friends on a regular basis. Go read Genesis 1:27-28. God created
a male and
a female - to procreate. He did not create female
s for Adam to have pleasures of the flesh.
Previous to that Abraham had three wives. Jacob had two wives and two servant wives making it four wives who were all producing children. Do you want to deny any of those things? You cannot get away so easily with the theory of one man one wife which is not clearly stated in the bibleNT too. You have wrongly made it up.
‘Baby factories’ were tolerated during Biblical times, especially for kings and the wealthy so they could attain what they desired - male offsprings. Both Abraham and Jacob were not yet considered Jews at that time and the strict covenant laws had not yet come into effect. Try harder.
It is useless to discuss any such thing with the Catholics who have no law about marriage or divorce or chastity.
Is that why Muslim women all over the globe are trying to abolish polygamous marriages? Perhaps they know better how moral and chaste Muslim men really can be.
