Well things sure did turn dark in the 2nd half of that ENG-COL match. 👎 It’s good that England sent that team home.

Also, yay to Belgium. Their performance wasn’t as strong as Brazil’s but they got the shots that they needed. I don’t know how players maintain their composure in those situations. I only breathed three times in the last 15 minutes from suspense.

I kinda figured France would be proceeding. 5 minutes in and I could see they had control of the game

Tomorrow hoping for Croatian and English victories.

England 3 - 1 Sweden
Croatia 1 - 1 Russia, Croatia wins on penalties.

I do not know if Russia being local may mean more pressure for Croatians during that game…
It is a box of surprises though. That has made this World Cup even more interesting,aside from having been great games.

Nicely done, England. I never really thought Sweden was much of a threat. Love the English goalkeeper in his lime green, very animated. He is a big part of why they are there. They seem to be gaining in focus, trying more stuff out, turning into a team. I can’t quite believe this is happening but I am rolling with it. I am supporting Russia over Croatia.
 
Didn’t watch the match, but I’m pleased with the outcome! Next, the semifinals!
 
Realistically, I think Croatia will defeat Russia. I’m good with either going through, though.

Good job England! Maybe we can stop raking Pickford over the coals now…
 
Yes Croatia I believe is the heavy favorite but Russia kind of got the better of me with the epic hold out over Spain then the penalties. They are my underdog. Of course then I have to watch England v Russia if things go my way, but I agree Croatia should win. Still anything is possible seems to be the theme of this Cup. I have lived so long thinking England would never do this - it is weird for it to be actually happening IRL. Don’t know if I should believe it or keep doubting.

It has been 28 years since England last got to semi-finals so it must mean a lot to them.
Time passes quickly! Holland,Germany,England wow those were tough teams back then,great semifinals and finals…
We were 28 years younger too!😃

Sort of reminds me of Caps fans during the Stanley Cup Playoffs. With the exception of Vegas going to the Stanley Cup Finals in their first year as a team, that was easily the biggest shocker of the playoffs. We sort of just got used to the Caps losing in the second round, often to Pittsburgh. Seeing them move on was a major treat, even for those of us who aren’t normally fans of the team.

Croatia is going to win. I have run the data several times (wind speeds, the softness of the grass etc). It’s the same every time.
