I do not recommend watching any Anime at all. Much of them are filled with either complete wickedness, evil and satanism and the occult and kabalism, etc, or they are filled with the most horrendous sexual content, or are completely devoid of anything having to do with Jesus Christ:

Phil 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things.

Rom 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Many animes are filled with demon possesion, sexual inuendo, and downright disobedience to parents and authority. This breaks the commandment about honoring Father and Mother.

Even the more “tame” ones are filled with mysticism and gaea theory and reincarnation and more.
I half agree with you. However I don’t think that every single anime is occultic. I used to watch Belach but I quit, not because of the supernatural beliefs in it, nor because of Ichigo’s fights with his dad (which I still think are funny) but because of the grotesque sexual jokes I’ve seen from the show. To me it’s just another Family Guy.

We can’t assume all stories with fantasy settings are occultic. Lord of the Rings and Chronicles of Narnia had magic, but both stories were written by devoted Christian authors. Aragorn and Aslan were supposed to be Christ-like figures.

Also, the have a japanese manga called “Manga Messiah”. I never read it myself but you may wanna check it out. I also understand there was an anime movie about the Bible although you see Adam and Eve’s private parts. I think the Catholic Church approved of it.

Dude, just… don’t argue with the guy. Did you CLICK on the videos he linked? The Battlefield Hollywood nonsense? The EVANGELICAL nonsense? Hey, I got nothing against certain denominations of Christianity but… Evangelicals.
They linked to THIS nonsense in their previous post. vimeo.com/9507595

I think there’s no point in arguing with these people.

Excuse me? Family Guy (along with a grand slur of mainstream western cartoons) have zero plot-content. Do not lump anime with that garbage.

Hey, hey, don’t act like all anime has some indepth plot. Just like any other media it has genres, and most US cartoons? Out comedy? No plot, outside of specific episodes, and no consistency, because it doesn’t need it… Take Excel Saga, for existence.

Only on going plot there iiiiissss… youtube.com/watch?v=7FGGMPeoTXM

And there’s a lot of other anime of that nature. For a humorous cartoon, a plot isn’t everything.

Yes, yes, which is why I actually hate that anime (that and another one abbreviated PS&G). I’m sorry if I painted with a broad brush right now but I tend to get irked by people miscriticizing the, what I call, literary content of any work of fiction. To say that stuff like Bleach has content that is no different from Family Guy just really offends the story-buff in me.
And there’s a lot of other anime of that nature. For a humorous cartoon, a plot isn’t everything.
You have to admit though, when comparing mainstream with mainstream, anime tends to be more plot-centered. Naruto, One Piece, and D.Gray-man clearly have an ordered sequence of events compared to the randomly generated one-shots and scenarios of toons like Cow and Chicken, Rocko’s Modern Life, and even classic Looney Tunes.

I grew up watching Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon so please know I have seen a lot of western cartoons as much as anime. I know that what I say has good basis.

This isn’t to say that one is better than the other really. However, as a story writer, the criticisms I make are based on plot and while I do not hold my opinion to be the ultimate, I do not like it when western cartoon fans become desperate to prove to me that their mainstream cartoons aren’t plot-less. (Believe me, I have seen some who have tried. I can barely describe how miserable their tirades were.)

I have seen hope though in the form anime-esque cartoons such as Ben 10 and Avatar as well as old series like Extreme Ghostbusters and that movie Titan A.E. Sadly, they seem underrated compared to Spongebob, Futurama, Family Guy, Chowder etc.

P.S.

I do like the Fairly Odd Parents actually so I don’t really hate everything that has no plot content. I just wish people would stop saying that it is ‘better’.

You do have a point. However I must disagree with your generalisations too. While many animes have elements which are magical, kabalistic, even pornographic, many if not most have many redeeming features and contain very little to none of the negative things you mentioned.

Sex in anime. I would say that this does not occur in 90% of anime. Anime characters virtually never have sex. There may be innuendo but always at the last moment someone gets cold feet or some event happens which prevents anyone taking it further. In a way I think this is a good thing, it shows youngesters that they can have fun, without sexual stuff. That they get embarrassed, girl slaps the guy for mistakenly walking in on her while she emerges from the shower or she accusses him of being a pervert further reinforces this. Usually the characters become drawn to each other for physical reasons but ultimately they discover a non-sexual approach to each other - the girl is hot tempered or she has a weird interest in this or that and this becomes admired by the guy. Sex is always made a big deal in anime shows. Many characters want to save themselves for marriage or at least someone they really love. By contrast most western shows and films depict it as a matter of fact, an inevitibility that friends and unmarried couples will do it sooner or later.
There is much virtue in many animes. The themes of redemption, forgiveness, self sacrifice (even giving your life for your friends), friendship, perseverence, unrequited love, loyalty, comraderie, etc.

Should all programming contain overtly religious themes? I don’t think so. I for one wouldn’t want to think of religious themes when unblocking my toilet. Programming should contain moral themes and themes positive or at least neutral to Christ when they appear but I don’t think Christ should be mentioned explicitly always. Negative reception to the show may turn to negative feelings towards the religious message. I think this would cheapen the message of Christ if we associated it with big explosions and goofy humour.
Rom 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
Occultism does occur in some anime and magic is many - magic being another form of advanced technology. However it is usually a device. The girl magician may cast a spell but she does not worship the devil and she is usually motivated by Christian like ideas and sinful ordinary human nature (like ours). Often allusions are made to God too, however because many Japanese are spiritual in a vague sense, their conceptions of God may not be the same as ours. We should take note of that and be prepared to correct errors when discussing this with others especially friends from Japan.

Now sometimes anime shows do abuse Christian symbols and that I think is unwatchable. But this is a small minority. I have complained to one publisher via way of a Japanese friend who is sympathetic to Catholicism. I think we could all write emails to Japanese producers who abuse Christian symbols and God.
Many animes are filled with demon possesion, sexual inuendo, and downright disobedience to parents and authority. This breaks the commandment about honoring Father and Mother.
Very few animes have disobedience to parents. Usually characters have no parents or their parents are absent. I’ve seen disobedience to parents on a very rare occasion.
I’ve seen disobedience to figures of authority who issue immoral commands however. On many occasions a character is told to kill another but at the last moment he or she refuses to do it. This ties in with themes of redemption and forgiveness in anime which are often subtle but nethertheless present in many shows.
Even the more “tame” ones are filled with mysticism and gaea theory and reincarnation and more
Watching a show about believers in Gaia is not the same as believing in Gaia or even having sympathies for it. Most people watch anime for comedy, drama (usually cheesy soap opera sentimentality), action and the exoticism that Japanese producers bring in. Hopefully very few anime fans derrive their ideology or philosophy from anime. I will agree with you that it is however possible and that some weakly minded persons could become influenced by some themes but usually these themes are used as mere plot devices and contain very little detail. I think the greatest issue is with pornographic elements or elements which contain outright blasphemy. The former is more common and the latter is very rare. Hence write to complain. I think the commit the latter out of ignorance usually.

I think modern Western TV/film are far worse than anime shows. Lessons from anime hyperrealism and exoticism are assimilated less than contemporary, non-exotic, subtle TV/film. After all who would use a deformed ancient Samurai character as a role model over Brad Pitt or Matt Damon?

Well sorry but Bleach does remind me of Family Guy. Yes, maybe the jokes are not as disgusting as Family Guy but seriously the push it pretty far. What else can I say?🤷 At least I didn’t compare it to south park.

Do you hate Family Guy because of the toilet humor or only because there is no solid plot in the show?

Do you hate Family Guy because of the toilet humor or only because there is no solid plot in the show?
Obviously it’s the lack of solid plot. Even Lucky Star has a more coherent course of events than that tripe. -.-

Occult? I’ve studied exorcism and I actually think the fantasy magic in anime is waaaay, way cooler than the occult that exorcists warn about. Then again, it’s not like the stuff in fantasy and reality are the same anyways. LOL! XD

Parents are human too. Let me tell you right now that you will reach a certain age when respect for them can only be so far. Let me start with a few examples from non-anime fiction of why parents are hardly infallible.

Denethor from Lord of the Rings - The man sends his son on a suicide mission, plays favoritism, and ultimately loses his mind then burns himself alive (all the while attempting to burn his feverish son along with him).

Lucius Malfoy from Harry Potter - Lucius is a racist and will not hesitate to indoctrinate his son, Draco into his worship of one of the most evil wizards in the HP world.

Zira from Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride - A scornful lionness who desires nothing but vengeance, lives a life of bigotry, and even trains her son to be a deceitful murderer.

Finally, the most classic example…

The Evil Stepmother from Cinderella - A stepmother is still a mother no? Yet, this woman uses her status of authority only to enslave poor Cinderelli-er I mean Cinderella. (Stupid singing mice! DX)… *cut short for more room]
The examples give and cited are filled with Sorcery, Magick, Communication with the dead, Ancestor Worship, Reincarnation, etc. All things that the Bible forbids us to even tamper with and for our own good, so that we are not deceived, and what is more that these “programs” make all of those things look “fun”, “cute”, “harmless”, “adventerous”, etc. It is the very poison of satan mixed among sugar.

The Bible says that those who have died are asleep and dead. Peter himself attests to this. For those wanting to believe Peter, they somehow choose to not want to see those words…

Lord of the Rings, by J. R. R. Tolkien (friend of C.S.Lewis) and his other works take aspects of the Bible (silmarillion, hobbit, etc) and twists them to suit spiritism and the occult manifestations. It glorifies, goblins, and shades, and all manner of undead. It glories mystical powers and relics.

Harrp Potter, is overtly occultic, absolutely filled with very real practices from the occult world. Look into how the author came up with the the characters and stories…

Lion King, is full of ancestor worship, sun worship and “circle of life” rhetoric.

Cinderella, based upon wishes and spells, and “faerie” or “fay”.

Naruto and Bleach have been already briefly cited, much much more could be said on them.

However, look at Bleach again. It glorifies death itself. Shinigami - death god. Heco Mundo - Greater Hell. A person “combining” with their weapon, their other “soul”, wielding their zanpakuto. Full possesion and glorified at that.

Look at Death Note, again we see Shinigami, involvement…just whom do you suppose they are? Manipulating the affairs of men. Playing with the lives of men. The devil is mocking men, and revealing it to them and they do not see nor do they hear…

The Bible says Death is an enemy that will be destroyed.

Helsing…vampires and blood drinkers, undead, demons, spells and calling upon dark powers by occultic runes. The Bible absolutely forbids the drinking/eating of blood and doing any of this sort of thing. Using a vampire [dracula himself] to hunt vampires…

And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand? Matthew 12:26

…and I could list many many more, and go into deep detail in them all [having known them most intimately before Christ Jesus saved me from them], and I have not even gotten to those which are of the uttermost depravity, sinking into absolute perversion and disease of mind. I have not touched even those which are “lighter”…but let me say this, satan does not care… all it takes is 1% error to make the whole error and deadly.

FF (have you wondered why this genre is called the “final fantasy”, think about the age we live in, it will be the “final” one, and the signs all are coming to pass as foretold in scripture, have any even considered the “Sephirot” Kabbalism again), Ninja Scroll, Neon Genesis Evangelion (filled with Kabalism, and death, and absolute fighting against the judgments of God, a dark depression surrounds this particular series), Sakura (Clow and Tarrot), Cowboy Beebop (gambling, bounty hunters, ancestor worship, mafia, hackers “ed”-as funny as I used to think it all was, until I see, Christ Jesus has opened my eyes, I was blind, but now I see…), DB, DBZ, DBGT (ascending into all power and godhood, gaea, ancestor worship, incantations, eastern mysticism, etc), TMNT, Street Fighter, and a thousand others and I have not even mentioned those things sinking into the depths of “ecchi” or “h” or worse, and there is worse…far worse…

…I have not even mentioned movies, or video games (video, arcade or paper (DnD)), or card games (Mtg, vtes, etc) or begun to really enter fantasy fiction (DL, WoT, SoT, etc)… all of it is there for anyone to see. Who do you love more, Jesus or those idols (and they are idols…those gods). Has all power been given unto Him, or is the power craved for self? Do we seek His glory or our own? Shall we fill our minds with the things of the world and of illusion and satan, or the things of Christ Jesus, His Creation, His Beauty and Truth in His Word?

But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death. Provernbs 8:36

I used to think like that, even wrote a college paper on it. Now I see how wrong it all was, a facade, a tower of babel, of lies and self-deceit.

No parents in anime… think about that one. That which is absent. There is no law, no rules, anything goes, “do what thou wilt is the whole of the law…” [A. Crowley], after all it is only “make believe”, only a “story”… It is a spiral that ever tends downward, degrading the mind and ever beholding fantasy. Many (not all) of the anime characters having the appearance of youth [child-like], but are supposed to be far older…

We become what we behold. And to continue to stare into the depths of satan and his arts, his wares, his “traffick”, then we will behave like him, become like him, for he is the father of all such “children of disobedience”…

Watching a show that involves the details and religion/worship of Gaea, slowly implants itself into the thoughts, for our minds are most open and receptive during these programs.

Consider the word “program”.
Consider the word “enter - tain - ment”. ("to come in, to be held, in possession of, to stay in this state) this is what the word means. Alpha brain patterns, along with the musical detriment, destroying and breaking down the resolves, emotional triggers designed to persuade… it does not have to go any higher a “conspiracy” than satan himself.

There are only two sides.

He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad. Matthew 12:30

I never got past 5 episodes of Bleach. I have friends who are big shounen fans and they say Bleach has totally derailed…so I don’t even feel compelled to start that journey. One Piece is what’s scratching my shounen itch more than anything right now.

Right and your interpretation of the Bible is also racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, and among other thing fascist. Oh wait, I forgot that’s not what we were discussing is it? You almost got me there… NOT!! :rotfl:

Thank you for reminding me why I’m Catholic. We are above such anti-academic interpretations.

Anyways, did you even read the my whole post? Then again, not that I really expected you to. Instead of dealing with the main point that is the fallibility of human parents, you decide to dance away like a silly ballerina into a different topic. Typical “Bible Christian”.

Actually, if you have even read the first few chapters or watched the first few episodes, the Shinigami hardly (if ever) interfere. In fact, they are more akin to Psychopomps only that instead of ferrying them, they simply ensure that people reach the appointed hour of their death. Failure to do so or any other means of tampering with that system will actually result in a Shinigami’s obliteration.

Speaking of Psychopomps, are you aware that St. Michael the Archangel is actually known as the Good/Christian Angel of Death? He, after all, is the one who comes to dying souls and gives them one last chance at redemption so as to save them from Satan’s clutches.
Who do you love more, Jesus or those idols (and they are idols…those gods).
Well lo and behold, you also impose false dichotomies. (Careful now, that word might be too hard to wrap around as it’s not in the Bible. ;))

It’s so fun to find people who are easy to read. You are easy to toy with and not take seriously.

P.S.

You still haven’t proven how fantasy magic =/= real magic. 😉
If you believe the Bible is truth then it follows that it only speaks of real things. Therefore, you have to prove that the magic you speak against is real.

Good luck proving cows can fly! :rotfl:

I used to think like that, even wrote a college paper on it. Now I see how wrong it all was, a facade, a tower of babel, of lies and self-deceit.
I’ve seen people say the same things about Catholicism. It’s very emotional but emotional appeals don’t even qualify as an argument. 😉

I read a few chapters of One Piece and I actually like the story. The art on the other hand? Er, not so much. >_>;;

I’d rather read Fairy Tail. The story is very generic shounen but its theme and setting of medieval fantasy are something I don’t often find in mainstream shounen.

That and a mage is the anime job class of my dreams. I’d take it over a ninja (Naruto), shinigami (Bleach), pirate (One-Piece), or even exorcist! (D.Gray-man). >w<;;

Honestly, if our world was like Fairy Tail’s Earthland, I would not even be here stewing in front of a computer, bemoaning my writer’s block. I’d be in an aweshum guild, traveling the world on its quests, and having adventures that would pen a thousands words just to describe.

…are you aware that St. Michael the Archangel is actually known as the Good/Christian Angel of Death? He, after all, is the one who comes to dying souls and gives them one last chance at redemption so as to save them from Satan’s clutches…
Michael is Christ Jesus Himself, Uncreated, Eternal Creator, God the Son. For it is He who battles the Dragon [Satan]. He is Lord of Sabaoth, of Hosts. It is He “Who is like God?” and battles against, “who is like unto the beast?” It is He who was before Moses and Joshua “put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest [is] holy ground” . It is He who has armies and Legions of Angels…

The Basic Definitions:

Michael: Hebrew: “Miyka’el” “מיכאל”; meaning: “who is like God” [Strong’s Concordance] or “who is like unto God?” [Gesenius’s Lexicon]; from Hebrew: “miy” “מי”; meaning: “who” and “kiy” “כי”; meaning: “that”, “yea”, “surely” and “'el” “אל”; meaning: “God”, “YHVH” [Strong’s Concordance]. Greek: “Michaēl” “Μιχαήλ”; meaning: “who is like God” [Strong’s Concordance] or “who is like God?” [Thayer’s Lexicon]. So, the definition can also be described as: “who surely [is] God”, “who that [is] God” and/or “[He] who [is] what God [is]”, see and compare: Who being the brightness of [his] glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the Word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; (Hebrews 1:3).

Archangel: Greek: “archaggelos” “ἀρχάγγελος”; meaning: “archangel”, “Chief of Angels” [Strong’s Concordance] [Thayer’s Lexicon]; from Greek: “archō” “ἄρχω”; meaning: “to be Chief”, “Leader”, “Ruler” and “aggelos” “ἄγγελος”; meaning: “a messenger”, “envoy”, “one who is sent”, “an angel [of the Heavenly Host]”, “messenger from God” [Strong’s Concordance] [Thayer’s Lexicon]. So, the definition can rightly be concluded to mean “Chief or Ruler over those who are sent” or “Chief or Highest messenger”.

Apostle: Greek: “apostolos” “ἀπόστολος”; meaning: “delegate”, “messenger”, “one sent forth” [Strong’s Concordance] [Thayer’s Lexicon]. So, the definition can rightly be said to mean “One who is sent forth”.

Word: Greek: “logos” “λόγος”; meaning: “of speech”, “a Word”, “sayings of God” [Strong’s Concordance] or “collection of things put together in thought” [Thayer’s Lexicon]. So, the definition can rightly be said to also mean “the Word”, “the Message”, “that which is said by God”, “the thoughts of God towards us”.

So does Christ Jesus/Michael fit all of these descriptions? Yes. Jesus is called an “Apostle”: (Hebrews 3:1),

is called “the messenger of the covenant”: (Malachi 3:1),

is “sent of the Father”: (Luke 20:13) (John 5:30) (John 5:36) (John 5:37) (John 6:39) (John 8:18) (John 8:42) (John 10:36) (John 12:49) (1 John 4:14),

is called “the Word”: (John 1:1) (Jeremiah 29:11),

is called “Messiah the Prince”, “the Prince of the Host”, “Prince of Princes” and “Prince of Peace”: (Daniel 9:25) (Daniel 8:11) (Daniel 8:25) (Isaiah 9:6)

and is “the greatest message of infinite love given to the world by the Father”: (John 3:13) (John 3:16) (John 3:17) (Galatians 2:20) (1 John 5:10).

In the Book of Daniel, Jesus is Michael, this can be easily seen…

Jesus is seen as the “…Stone…” in Daniel 2:35,45

Jesus is seen as “…the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.” in Daniel 3:25

Jesus is seen as “…[one] like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven,…” in Daniel 7:13

Jesus is seen as “…the Prince of the host…” in Daniel 8:11

Jesus is seen as “…the Prince of Princes…” in Daniel 8:25

Jesus is seen as “…Messiah the Prince…” and “…Messiah…” in Daniel 9:25-26

Jesus is seen as “…he…” who “…shall confirm the covenant …with many…” in Daniel 9:27

Jesus is seen as “…a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins [were] girded with fine gold of Uphaz: His body also [was] like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude…” in Daniel 10:5-6

Jesus is seen as “…Michael…”, “…your Prince…”, “…chief prince…”, “…Great Prince which standeth for thy people…” in Daniel 10:13,21, 12:1

and so on…a great study can be shown on it…

Michael is Christ Jesus Himself, Uncreated, Eternal Creator, God the Son.
You’re SDA aren’t you? Tsk, tsk, sad… I direct you to Non-Catholic Religions if you insist on promoting heresy.

However, feel free to take this video with you.
