I’ve seen some clean ones. Not every fanfic writer is perverted. Just the notorious ones who think shlock sells. Serious writers know better.
I don’t want to say ‘like me,’ but, well. I try. :o

I just finished watching Transformers Victory and Zone, completing the Generation One Anime (Japanese exclusives). I have to say that the character art and animation in some episodes is better than any of the other previous G1 stuff. A pity Zone only became one episode. I would have like to have more of an explanation as to who or what Volenjiger is and just how a bunch of old Decepticons got resurrected (namely the ones who, to my knowledge, didn’t die in the first place).

Fanfiction: Why is it always yaoi?

/discuss
It isn’t. But as long as the most meaningful relationships in shonen (which gets the most fic about it) are between the hero and his rival or sidekick instead of the hero and the heroine, and as long as the target audience for most fanfiction is young girls experimenting with romance for the first time, there will definitely be a huge amount of it.

As a fanfiction writer, I’ve always been asking this too.

Even when looking up smut fics for anime like Fate/Stay Night (which originated as a hentai game) you would find an overwhelming amount of yaoi fics in 'em! DX<

YOU STUPID FAN GIRLS!! GIVE CHANCE TO OTHER KINDS OF PAIRINGS DAGNABBIT!!! D8<
(should have quoted your post earlier but didn’t)

You know you have no right to complain if you’re looking for FSN porn in the first place, right bro? Especially since all the girls in it are so emotionally damaged that reading smutfic with them is the anime girl equivalent of watching all the hardcore porn out there with Eastern European women who get sold into sex slavery under pretenses of a job as a maid.

(Disclaimer: I haven’t played FSN. I do have two friends - girls! - who loved it and have told me about it.)

To get the thread away from nerds raging at each other about hentai, did anyone watch Eden of the East this summer? It felt like a more cheerful version of the Bourne movies. It starts out with a young Japanese tourist in DC throwing a rock at the White House and then seeing a truck dump a naked guy into the middle of the street. The only clue this guy has to his identity is a cellphone that puts him in contact with a voice named Juiz, who can fill any of his desires at his request, from a pack of gum to making the Prime Minister say “Uncle” on live TV. While he’s trying to figure out who he is and why he seems to be in competition with other owners of these phones, she’s trying to figure out what to do with her life after college in between him inviting her to all sorts of crazy places to try and work out what’s going on together.

The animated series was only the first half of the story. The second half is two movies: one came out in Japan last week and the other should come out in March.

Actually, I consider myself a sort of infiltrator of the hentai underground. What better way to attack an industry than discovering its weak points? (And believe me, I have found many gripes with hentai and smut from a literary perspective).

From my “studies” though, there really is a schism between the straight fan boys and the yaoi fan girls. Furthermore, it just doesn’t make sense. Why would there be yaoi fics about a game that was explicitly directed towards an extremely hormonal male audience?

However, you are so wrong about the girls in FSN. They’re pretty well-made characters. Saber herself has inspired me to create my own tomboyish girl knight. 😛 In fact, FSN’s one of the very few h-games that I find dangerous since story-wise, it’s pretty nice. It’s not like other h-games that are just constantly about sex. Then again, games like that somehow have this magical ability to have clean, non-pornographic versions. :ehh:

Zone had a continuation!

In the Battle Star the Return of Convoy manga

I have to watch those series too, I barely remember Headmasters aside from the first episode, which I watched recently

God Bless You !!!

No one who understands the radiating nature of personal sin should be reading/watching/ playing such stuff. The ‘literary’ angle is an excuse that won’t hold water. “It’s porn but it’s well-written porn.” Come on. You don’t even really believe that.

Porn damages not only those who write and read it but due to the enncompassing nature of personal sin, the church, the community, even the cosmos.

Assuming you’re being frank about your motivations for being in hentai fandom (and seeing as you’re a young adult male, I’m not entirely sure you are), that’s what I told myself when I started reading yaoi two years ago, man. As I discovered to my detriment, you can’t really try and be a bridge between the light of Christ and the more morally questionable bits of fandom without a certain level of personal holiness that tbh I don’t think either of us have.

And about your “doesn’t make sense” question, Naruto. Bleach. Yu-Gi-Oh. Prince of Tennis. They’re all for ten-year-old boys, so you would think people would sexualize it even less than FSN, which is intended to be eroticized, but a pretty substantial part of those fandoms are fifteen-year-old girls. If it’s got interesting male characters girls will be on it. I actually sympathize with yaoi fangirls, a lot of whom are just trying to figure out romance from a distance. Picking two boys might be part of the distancing factor as well as for “OMG CUTE BOYS”: they don’t have to worry about what it’s like being a girl in romance (even if they unconsciously make one of the dudes into a girl al ot of the time).

Re: FSN, they’re well-made characters, but they’re also horribly emotionally screwed up in some way or another. You probably see them as tsundere or kuudere or whatever, but those are all signs of emotional instability, rather than personalities anyone should be attracted to. I can’t see how it would be anything but creepy for someone to watch Sakura or Rin, for instance, having sex, and Shiro/Saber has wayyyyyyy too many unfortunate implications. Next you’ll be trying to persuade me about the artistic value of Kampfer or Queen’s Blade XD

…
So no one watched Eden of the East? How about Baccano, then?

Infiltrating the hentai fandom?

I remember some years ago (3 to be exact), I was in some forum about yuri fandom, but it wasn’t populated by fanboys as one may think(well, the ocasional three or five), but no, its main component were bisexual and lesbian girls, so I registered there to put on practice some apologetic knowledge, because in a thread, they were bashing Catholicism for a fake news report (about a father who told her lesbian girl to go live in another home because her sexual orientation), and throw some quotes proving the misogynism in Catholic faith… oh, but they were quoting the Gospel of Thomas, so I wrote about Gnosticism, starting a Apologetics discussion and tried to debunk their myths, but eventually, I grew tired of the forum

Recently, I go to some anime forums doing the same, and writing about stuff I like too, but sometimes some people is so annoying (some guy didn’t believed that there are religious people who like anime, manga and videogames… oh God) that I have to take some rest and don’t spend much time there, ah, and the responsibilities, University, etc

Sometime I think that some of us can do the same but in more influential areas, what about the entertaiment industry, the Arts, Graphic Design, etc?

God Bless You !!!

Meh, my objective is really less about bridging anything but more of finding weaknesses in hentai without coming off as a religious prude. Let’s face it. Nobody wants to hear religion being mentioned in a debate. I see hope in what I’ve discovered. That hope being that hentai is more less nothing but carnal, disturbing, sexually charged trash fiction.

Well the thing is, it’s their cast. A good majority of shounen have male-dominated casts. They’re not like h-games like FSN where you actually have to choose amongst a selection of girls. Other than the choices of Saber, Sakura, Rin, and Rider, another game includes a girl named Caren Ortensia. Then you have supporting characters such as Taiga, Ilya, Caster, Bazett… it really doesn’t add up for me. I mean FSN only has about four bishies in it (Shiro, Gilgamesh, Archer, and Lancer).

Unless of course two guys are enough material for yaoi fan lassies to work on… >_>;;

Well thanks for telling me this. It may help give me more understanding behind what goes on in their heads. The whole Cute Boys theory isn’t new though. It’s the same with straight guys and yuri (and yes, I’m a dude and I soo hate myself for housing a yuri fan boy in my head). DX

Really? I don’t know, they’re more like archetypes to me. They’re kind of a turn to guys apparently. 🤷 (I myself, definitely find Sakura’s submissive nature to be pretty cute. :B)

You’d be surprised how “well-written porn” virtually don’t exist.
Not by my standards at least. (And no, they ain’t religious standards either. :P)

I have an idea for your next research project:

“Water: Is it wet?”

😛

lots of stuff
Everyone knows porn rarely has aesthetic value, even people who don’t watch porn. There are some well-written stories or well-shot films, but they’re like an Eli Roth movie for sex instead of violence. And yeah, for fangirls two guys are enough, but two girls are enough for fanboys of shows like Dirty Pair. Please don’t be condescending about fangirls like some of my friends, you are yourself a fanboy and do not have the moral high ground you think you do, especially because you’ve convinced yourself you watch porn for the aesthetic value whereas most of them are honest with themselves about wanting to watch men go at it because they think it’s hot.

And I’m sorry to be the one to have to break it to you, but the only people who think anime archetypes are hot are otaku and harem leads, and the only girls like that are in harem shows. Real girls don’t act like that. And Sakura is so submissive because she was molested by her brother. I really don’t think that’s a trait you ought to eroticize or glamorize.

stuff about entertainment industry
My “fandom little sister” and I are working on a POWER OF FRIENDSHIP fantasy series with a 90%-female cast. It’s not “Catholics infiltrating the entertainment industry” by any means (she’s not even religious), but we want to write women who are interesting characters that aren’t turned into something for guys to drool over.

Haha! They all laughed at me, they did! But look, look! Look at how just one utterance of yaoi has driven them mad! If I can derail a forum discussion for my own amusement, just imagine!

First the forums, then…then the world!

Sorry, my brain is now mush from finals. But seriously, there’s something to yaoi that seems to transcend pr0n. I can’t explain it, you take two average anime fangirls and have them watch a gay porn flick and watch them puke. Make the same two fangirls, give them a fanart pic of the two male characters of *Vampire Knight *and atch them squeel…oh geez, I can’t believe I’m even contemplating this as an academic discussion. You get the picture.

On a related note, there’s more sexual tension written into Vampire Knight than something that normally has a lot of sexual tension written into it.

Like I said upthread, I think it’s an escape in a lot of cases. I could go on about my literal Thoughts on Yaoi, but am not gonna discuss it anymore because it’s a topic that sets me off and tbh Lost Wanderer is already setting me off about hentai/moe, which is a more important issue.

I only ever read the first part of Vampire Knight because I was under the impression it was the new Fruits Basket in America so far as shoujo goes and wanted to know how it was. It felt like anime boarding school Twilight XDDDDD

I hate when my threads get de-railed. I’d better fix this. Luckily, not all anime is so sexually-driven. I can think of several anime titles with not an ounce of sexual tension in them. We also have to remember that we’re dealing with an entirely different culture from our own here.

I like the manga version of Bleach. The anime version is okay, but it looks so much better in black and white. Also, anyone ever heard of D Gray-Man? One of my faves. 🙂

That’s strange, because I’m the exact opposite with Bleach.

Dr. Gray-Man was ruined for me because of the English voice-acting cast that made it into Col. Mustang and Edward Alric, featuring the Golden Snitch. Again, that’s just me. I’m sure that if one didn’t despise the fangirlism surrounding Vic Mognana (/spelling) and MustangxEd and watched a sub, then I’m sure my experience wouldn’t be repeated.

Have watched both Eden of the East (Higashi no Eden) and Baccano 😛 Can’t wait for the HnE movies :). HnE, a great example of how nudity albeit censored nudity and “johnny hunting” was used for comedic effect rather than for something sexual.

I was even drooling over the Selecao Phone in the HnE Anime which they made into a real one in japan

…tsk tsk… why do they always get the good stuff? They even have a NERV phone and a Char Custom Cellphone etc… 🤷 Oh Well.
