He wanted the Ukrainian president to make a public announcement.
I keep hearing that, but it’s not in the transcript, and so what if he did? The US government announces investigations all the time.

It was in several witness testimonies. By doing this, he was working to effectively attack a political rival without the investigation even being completed. Would you want this to happen to people, that investigations, possibly bogus, are being announced when the person has not been formally charged with anything? Having a son as a board member of a foreign company is not a crime, but it is worth investigating - privately. If it is done publicly, the wrongdoers have time to cover up everything, right? This is simply not smart in terms of actually trying to do an investigation that yields true results.
The US government announces investigations all the time.
If you can cite an example with these circumstances, let me know.

Is our constitution to allow that our relations with other nations should have an element by which a sitting president can ask for “favors” from foreign leaders that contribute to his own political gain? Please, do not think of just this one president.
We can ask this question until we turn blue in the face. The same question was asked MANY times during the impeachment hearings. It was NOT answered. The trumpians pretended that nothing was asked, and then started YELLING.
Well, let’s see if we can get an answer without the yelling. What do you say, Guinness? Do you have the ability to respond, even though others could not?

You’ve always accused Trump of being dumb, so why assume malice over incompetence?

Type “government announces investigation” into any search engine and you’ll get more results than you could ever read.

Where have I “yelled” here? Sounds like you’re bearing false witness…Where has anybody yelled here? @Nahar seems to be the only one making liberal use of the “caps lock” key…

False.

Not concerning political rivals of a president, by the president.
Where have I “yelled” here?
You haven’t. You have been very respectful. I didn’t say you had yelled, and neither did anyone else.

If you aren’t going to answer the question, let’s just leave it at that. I’m done for today. God Bless you.

How do you know? Have you looked through them all?

Everything a 1st term President does is designed to contribute to his political gain so he can get re-elected. For example:

Here, Obama asked the Russian leader for the favor of having discussion of contentious issues, like missile defense, delayed until after he was safely re-elected.

Who’s is this “WE” you refer to, and so what if it serves a “political purpose”? The investigation of Trump served a political purpose too, but I don’t see you guys squawking about that.
Guinness, the we is the United States. You know that.

Investigations undertaken by the United States are not supposed to have a political purpose.

The investigation of Trump does not have a political purpose, and that is the fundamental difference between the sides. The Democrats and their Independent and Republican supporters believe they are protecting America and American institutions against someone whose behavior is destroying those institutions.

This is such an ingenuine response on your part. Absolutely nothing about Democrat behaviour in this entire scam has been honest. Nothing.

Guinness:
All of whom answer directly to the President. What’s the difference between the President telling the CIA director to call his foreign counterpart about investigating corruption involving a political opponent and the President calling his counterpart directly to request an investigation?
We have FBI offices in every embassy to conduct investigations in conjunction/cooperation with host nations.

If Trump had asked Ze to ask his law enforcement people to cooperate with the FBI SAIC, that would be something completely different. But, he didn’t want that. He wanted the Ukrainians to smear Biden before the election with an investigation and allegations of wrongdoing. Completely different.
Okay, I don’t know if you have been paying attention, but the FBI does not have my
vote of confidence. @PaulinVA

Yes, that’s part of Trump’s undermining of American institutions. You don’t believe the free press and you don’t believe that American law enforcement/intelligence organizations can be trusted. That is playing right into Trump’s hands.
You can’t really believe that…
Yes, I really do, insofar as you are implying that the impeachment investigation/proceedings are trying to overturn an election vice trying to preserve American democracy.

If against all odds Trump is removed by the senate, the president will be Mike Pence. A regular, polite, politician.

It will be like a spring day after a stormy cold winter.

And Trump supporters get called “cultists”…

In case you don’t remember, it appears to be under the Obama administration
government agencies began to be weaponized. I never believed it would
extend to the House of Representatives or the FBI, but their grab for power
seems to hold nothing back.

Got it.

There are Democratic and Republican partisans in government agencies taking turns attacking the other side, depending on who is in power. That’s going on while the leadership at the agency is appointed by the current President.

I’m sure that makes sense to some people.

And if I hear one more time about what a sad day this is, what a solemn moment,
with a heavy heart from the democrats I will probably need a barf bag.
