According to the Dems… nothing to see here folks. Trump is the danger. Pay no attention to all the Dems behind the curtain…
They insist that he brought up a possible investigation into the Ukrainian energy company Burisma only to help him defeat Biden at the ballot box in 2020. His motive, they likewise insist, had nothing to do with the fact that Burisma is a notoriously corrupt energy company in a notoriously corrupt country.

And of course, it couldn’t have anything to do with the fact that American law requires Trump to certify that any country which receives American foreign aid be corruption-free. And it couldn’t possibly have anything to do with the fact that another country, the United Kingdom, had already seized funds from Burisma on suspicions of corruption, and that the founder of Burisma, one Mykola Zlochevsky, is now being investigated by the Prosecutor General of embezzling state funds “on an especially large scale,” in particular the disappearance of $33 million from the state bank.

Nor could it have anything to do with ensuring that the $391 million in lethal aid Congress had awarded to Ukraine didn’t wind up in the pockets of oligarchs, a distressingly common occurrence there.
And the impeachment crowd, just yells “but trump…” And their echo chamber repeats it over and over…

Wait for the solicited interference more accurately describes Trump’s position

Precisely! No big surprise that these news outlets are outraged re President Trump’s “ impeachable” offenses.

. It is clear that he used the powers of his office in an attempt to extract a corrupt favor for his personal benefit, and this is precisely the sort of offense that impeachment was designed to keep in check.
I don’t know what this court will find, but Bill Clinton’s “ unpresidential” actions measure up to this quite well. 😏

There is evidence he asked for legit investigation by Ukraine, which would invariably have yielded evidence of corruption by their people as well
There is no evidence he asked them to fake evidence
I disagree. Do you think, really, that the US routinely asks foreign governments to investigate US citizens?

I think the US is only interested in US laws. To say that the US routinely communicates with foreign countries suggesting US citizens to investigate is not true. They ask for cooperation investigating US citizens breaking US laws, but that’s it.

So the premise of you post is false, as therefore so is the conclusion.

And, remember, testimony indicates that Trump wanted an announcement of an investigation of a political rival. That’s it.

See what we mean when we say the democrats have the media in their back
pocket?
Or, conversely, supporters of Trump are out on a limb with little support from lawyers, former prosecutors, editors, and common people.

There is no surprise since Mulvany admitted the quid pro quo and said get over it. The outrage is Trump’s position that you can expect he will continue is no suprise.

It is literally their constitutional duty to oversee the president. That is how the founders set up our system of checks and balances. I humbly suggest to those who think it is fine to dismantle such systems for ‘their guy’ that they add this book to their christmas list.

Trump is the danger.
That is correct.
Your AFA article repeats much of what was in your other link. My response to that applies here:
The US has a process for vetted the Ukraine’s anti-corruption progress. Through that process aide to Ukraine was green-lighted by the Pentagon in May 2019. Trump intervened anyway, but did not actually seek anti-corruption activity, according to Sondland, just the announcement of the investigation by Ukraine, that would damage his political opponent, and deflect attention from Russia, who undertook massive intervention in 2016 to help Trump.

Biden acted on behalf of the government of the United States and its allies to remove a corrupt prosecutor who was failing to work against corruption in the Ukraine - including stonewalling the investigation of Burisma. Nothing wrong with this act.

Trump acted outside of the established channels of the government of the United States to corruptly leverage aid to an ally in need to gain personal benefit.

The actual distinction between these two cases could not be more obvious.
bold added.

What? The possibility that all those people might have a point?
Don’t dare think such thoughts. Lol

Good thing the Boston Globe & NY Times are the only only orgs specifically mentioned in your article. You can just read one of the other 8 editorials I posted (or the American Conservative one that started the thread)

Maybe we should impeach Sondland then…

Sondland testified: “I never heard from President Trump that aid was conditioned on an announcement" of investigations. He said he never personally heard Trump discuss preconditions. And at one point, he confirmed Trump told him, “I want nothing.”

Very flimsy testimony to impeach someone over… But let the Dems eat their cake…

It wasn’t just one phone call and it wasn’t just one person involved in the conspiracy.

Oh, please don’t tell me you are comparing Trump to Hitler?

I am saying that we should learn the lessons from other times when fascist governments came to power, and that dismantling systems of checks and balances for a populist leader is a no-no.

It never ceases to amaze me the lengths to which some who oppose this president will go.To compare him to Hitler not only y diminishes the truly evil agenda Hitler put forward ,it’s blatantly untrue.Trump has done more to preserve our individual freedoms and respects the people of this Country.,I dare say then the leftist/ Dems are the ones who want to control our every thought word and deed. Just more projection!
