God’s Prophetic word,

Or some innovative interpretation thereof?

Can you point to anyone who so interpreted before the 19th century?
God’s prophetic word.

The most innovative interpretaion I know is the calling of the land"Palestine", which you make an effort to do so whenever you can.

I find it odd that so many over the years have used OT prophecy to show where the Jews were dispersed from the land, but fail to mention several chapters later that God will restore them back to the land.

Ex. 15:14:
ἤκουσαν ἔθνη καὶ ὠργίσθησαν ὠδῖνες ἔλαβον κατοικοῦντας φυλιστιιμ
The people shall hear, and be afraid: sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Palestina

The Gospel according to Herzl is not in my Canon.

Have it your way.

Matthew 2:19-21
After Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt and said, “Get up, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who were trying to take the child’s life are dead.”
So he got up, took the child and his mother and went to the land of Israel.

Not I.

At least he understood the biblical truth that the Jews belong in the land of Israel.

To bad he didn’t believe in the Bible, or God for that matter.

who didn’t believe in the Bible, Joseph?

there was no Bible then or Hebrew Bible in joseph’s day.

there was oral tradition and perhaps some written scrolls.

are you referring to someone else?

who didn’t believe in the Bible, Joseph?
Theoder

Herzl that is.
there was no Bible then or Hebrew Bible in joseph’s day.
The Septuagint was already in use. The Masoretic text didn’t exist yet.
there was oral tradition and perhaps some written scrolls.
Scrolls all over the place. St. Paul found them in all his travels.
are you referring to someone else?
Herzl.

Wheter or not he truley felt that way up right before his death, nevertheless, he asked Godly men to support him for the Zionist cause. One of those men was Pope Pius X.

And there is Palestine where Palestinians (not all Arab, and not all Muslim, btw) who want to live in the land that THEY were BORN can…wait, I guess they can’t live there.

The Palestinians said the same things 60 years ago. What is the lesson? It’s yours, whether you have title or not, if you can hold it long enough.

Oh, and btw not everyon in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan and Egypt are Arab, or Muslim.

And Iran is not even Arab.
Nobody here EVER mentions that Jews in the land of Israel pre-1948 were also called “Palestineans”. The Jerusalem Post was even called the “Palestine Post” before its present name. Do you know in the early 20th century, Palestinean farmers went to California to show farmers there how to get crops to grow in arid conditions? Those Palestineans were all Jewish.

Btw. we Orthodox have our own issues with the pope of Rome mendlling in our business.

9. In a measure the aggressions of the later Popes in their own persons had ceased, and were carried on only by means of missionaries. But lately, Pius IX., becoming Bishop of Rome and proclaimed Pope in 1847, published on the sixth of January, in this present year, an Encyclical Letter addressed to the Easterns, consisting of twelve pages in the Greek version, which his emissary has disseminated, like a plague coming from without, within our Orthodox Fold. In this Encyclical, he addresses those who at different times have gone over from different Christian Communions, and embraced the Papacy, and of course are favorable to him, extending his arguments also to the Orthodox, either particularly or without naming them; and, citing our divine and holy Fathers (p. 3, 1.14-18; p. 4, 1.19; p. 9, 1.6; and pp. 17, 23), he manifestly calumniates them and us their successors and descendants: them, as if they admitted readily the Papal commands and rescripts without question because issuing from the Popes is undoubted arbiters of the Catholic Church; us, as unfaithful to their examples (for thus he trespasses on the Fold committed to us by God), as severed from our Fathers, as careless of our sacred trusts, and of the soul’s salvation of our spiritual children. Usurping as his own possession the Catholic Church of Christ, by occupancy, as he boasts, of the Episcopal Throne of St. Peter, he desires to deceive the more simple into apostasy from Orthodoxy, choosing for the basis of all theological instruction these paradoxical words (p. 10, 1.29): “nor is there any reason why ye refuse a return to the true Church and Communion with this my holy Throne.”
  1. Each one of our brethren and sons in Christ who have been piously brought up and instructed, wisely regarding the wisdom given him from God, will decide that the words of the present Bishop of Rome, like those of his schismatical predecessors, are not words of peace, as he affirms (p. 7,1.8), and of benevolence, but words of deceit and guile, tending to self-aggrandizement, agreeably to the practice of his antisynodical predecessors. We are therefore sure, that even as heretofore, so hereafter the Orthodox will not be beguiled. For the word of our LORD is sure (John x. 5), A stranger will they not follow, but flee from him, for they know not the voice of strangers.
  2. For all this we have esteemed it our paternal and brotherly need, and a sacred duty, by our present admonition to confirm you in the Orthodoxy you hold from your forefathers, and at the same time point out the emptiness of the syllogisms of the Bishop of Rome, of which he is manifestly himself aware. For not from his Apostolic Confession does he glorify his Throne, but from his Apostolic Throne seeks to establish his dignity, and from his dignity, his Confession. The truth is the other way.

Actually, the PLO charter notes that the Jewish community before the Zionist invasion are Palestinians.

I thought you said Palestine didn’t exist?

Are we discussing if the Jewish people have a Biblical, God-Given claim to the land or if the state of Israel, as it exists today, is the same as the Jewish People and state of Israel in the Bible?

It seems some can’t distinguish. Or see the reason why to distinguish.

That’s why I am confused.

Do the Jewish People have a claim to the land per the Bible? Yes

Is the modern state of Israel the same as the Biblical one? I do not think so. I want to see some rational behind that thought.

i don’t follow your reasoning ralphinal. can you explain
better what you mean?

Is Jewish the same as Israeli?

Is Israelli the same as Jewish?

Are modern Jews the same an ancient ones in beleif?

THese are the questions that I need answered.

Point is, all one of these leaders had to do(besides the Caliph), is open up their bibles and see that God does want the Jews back in the land.

I thought you said Palestine didn’t exist?
Never said that. I was just pointing out you are a Christian who decides to use the man-made name of Palestine for the land of Israel since the the dispersion of 70AD. The same Heaven you wish to go calls the land “Israel”.

Yes we are.

They do have that claim.

This Israel in the land is the same as the ones in Israel in the bible. This arguement that these Jews are not the same in bible is used in protest rallies around the world that show hatred for Zionism. Let me ask you this. How “good” did the Israelites “act” when they were led out of Egypt, went through the Red Sea, and led by a pillar of cloud during the day and fire at night to occupy the Promised Land. The whole generation that fleed Egypt (save 2) died in the wilderness! This Israel is just as disobedient as the Israel that fleed Egypt. That Israel had all the miracles right before their eyes. This Israel only has the miracle that finally it happened they can go home to their land and join others that have done so from over 100 countries! For the first time in only 2500 years, Israel has sovereign control over Jerusalem. Though it is still trampled on by the Gentiles("Peace plans to divide the city/Islamic control of Temple Mount).

Good point. Now, how do we know that we had the authority to create the nation again? Moses was told to do so. After the Babylonian exile, prophets told them to go. Who gave them the green light on this one?

No, Hebrews. And those who accept His Christ.

So you are still worried about what mountain to worship on? John 4:23-4
