Lets not get politically correct, If you are seriously saying it is impossible to contract a virus this way what are your personal credentials to state this, are you a virologist?

I am not opening any political links and will flag them because they go off topic. This thread is about the not so new virus now in over 50 countries and having a major impact in many places and on the stock market and the supply chain
 
A second U.S. case of unknown origin was confirmed Friday in Santa Clara County.

Your link aside (I see nothing particularly inflammatory in it), the CDC reported earlier this week of a case in a person who had not traveled or come in known close contact with a person with the disease. Of course, you cannot develop the illness with exposure. However, that seems to be possible from a person not showing symptoms (yet or at all). Other Coronavirus have been shown to persist on surfaces for up to nine days, but that is highly variable with temperature, humidity, UV light exposure, etc.

No, your link was about a political party distorting a viral incidence which is global as stated in the headline screaming ‘Democrats distort coronovirus readiness’

Also you do not understand that when I said ‘or came in contact with an infected person’ is not the same thing as your assumptions of what you read incorrectly as
’ getting infected without exposure"
We can discuss what exposure means and if you have any medical , microbial or the like training, your (name removed by moderator)ut would be quite valuable.
Did you answer if you are a virologist?

In Australia a woman has tested positive after returning from Iran. She has been working in a Gold Coast Beauty salon. The Government Health Authority there is now trying to track down all her clients since returning, over 40.

was glad to hear he cancelled his planned events today.

Three cases involving people with no connection with affected countries are found on the West Coast.

Authorities in the US are now dealing with three patients who contracted the virus despite not having travelled to an affected area or had contact with a known case.

Two of the infections were reported on Friday - one in California and one in Oregon. Another such case had been detected in California on Tuesday. A total of 59 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the US, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

The President called this all a HOAX in the last 12 hours. He says a bunch of nutty things, and I would agree it isn’t important as politics except to the point that it is a mixed message, and that bleeds into public confidence.
 
Please Start a new thread on what the president said or did, it will only cause this one to devolve into election politics. This one is really to track the virus globally and discuss developments on knowledge on it and affects in supply chain, stock markets, and of course people and how the virus is being contained in various countries. It will get into athlete prep and Olympics if it goes that long 🙂

In all honesty election politics is affecting the handling of the health issues. Markets are as well, not just the stock market. Jobs, goods, trade and commerce is every bit as much a " crisis" as health. Perhaps you can clarify. I agree with your assessment of scope, but this being an election year is an unfortunate negative

This is a thread that is global in nature, it is not about
election responses in one country or tough talk from leaders in another country.

If you or anyone would like to take an internal American politics and election bent on this, go for it, on a new thread, just as others have regarding Mass issues on other threads.
 
Anybody have first or second hand knowledge of the state of the Coronovirus in the Hong Kong part of China?

I have friends who have booked to go there soon and they are unsure in whether they should go.

This is very worrisome, and motivation for all to improve our hygiene and surface sterilization habits. Perhaps the govt should be doing PSAs on the essentials? . . .

There are two cases in washington where I live one is not far from me and the high school that he went to was shut down.
I have young children and a husband with heart issues. I am extremely scared.
