You misrepresented the situation, and I called you out. deal with it.
Really?

OLOS posted:
This person never travelled outside the country or came in contact with an infected person.
You responded:
This is a biological impossibility, to get sick without any contact with the contagion
OLOS did not claim a lack of contact with contagion. In numerous posts on the thread, OLOS has called attention to possible transmission through other vectors, informed by recommendations given by Health agencies to reduce the risk of contracting the disease.

By your claim, do you mean to suggest that the transmission of this virus requires person to person contact? Is there evidence for this? If not, it is a potentially dangerous assumption.

I am sorry for your circumstances. If I may, reasons people need a system like single payer are many, and like yours. People cannot take off from work, but what if a school closed or child is sick. What if they are sick but cannot afford to take off, then it spreads.

A situation similar to the Spanish Influenza has been widely predicted for decades. This article from 2015 echoes the discourse on that.

It does appear that there has been preparedness and planning in place in many countries. As stats show atm, China might have peaked in its cases, and that is being attributed to its strict containment protocols. Time will tell.

In forward planning for medical situations of magnitude there are countries that have stockpiled medical supplies and are releasing them as necessary. To speak more on this China is a main producer of masks, stocks there are now depleted and manufacture there is slowed due to the virus. Chinese have bought up much of the retail mask supply in other countries and is shipping it back home. This means no masks to be had, retail in those countries who rely on Chinese supply, and have had there own retail stocks bought out and sent back to China. Manufacture and supply is not expected to be restored until at least May. One country has publically stated it just released its stockpile of masks and medical supplies like handwash and gloves now, for its health sector.

Unfortunately one in Washington has died, may they rest in peace.
I would have confidence that protocol is to restrict or stop access to places those with the virus have frequented.

About 13 million ….the number of Americans over the age of 75.
About 23 million Americans suffer from an autoimmune disorder.

These things are never one and done. This time… Covid 19. The next? …anytime from any place.

There are historical incidences of the common cold, small pox , to name a couple, that decimated populations with no immunity to them.

I remember a medical expert in an archaeology documentary stating we moderns would not survive long in the ancient world due to various bacteria and viruses floating around. He was discussing ancient toilet habits and construction.

Are you saying Bill Gates is a Virologist, or that he is presenting a paper and research by a health professional?

So he is? Or he is not?

I just am trying to decide how much credibility I give him on the subject.
He is an expert on public policy and health issues, having worked there extensively and internationally through his foundation.

Bill Gates, in 2015:
he seems to be saying the WHO is fairly useless.

Not sure how to fix that, or how you get poor countries to prepare, be more responsive, and improve their reporting. Is ‘one world govt’ the supposed answer?

The President called this all a HOAX in the last 12 hours. He says a bunch of nutty things, and I would agree it isn’t important as politics except to the point that it is a mixed message, and that bleeds into public confidence.
He did not call the coronavirus a hoax.

He did not call the coronavirus a hoax.
He did call the concern expressed by the Democrats a hoax. In other words, the coronavirus is real, but the seriousness of it is the hoax.

the coronavirus is real
OMG
Why are we dragging the Dems and their nonsense around here?
He said the Dems are a hoax and their play on the virus is a hoax/politics.
Ain’t no room for this here or anywhere!

He said the WHO only has the funding to monitor outbreaks.
You are joking, right? 8,500 employees are doing data entry, for about $2 billion a year?

They’ve been around for 70 years and are chartered to do much more.
They just don’t do it very well.

He realizes the seriousness of it also as he has seen what happened to the stock market and he realizes how this could effect the global economy.

President Trump does not want to create hysteria over
the coronavirus and cause a panic. So he is referring to the coverage and reporting about the coronavirus.

But not believing in the inherent seriousness of the epidemic, he would rather address the stock market directly by calming fears and lowering interest rates. You watch. You will see a push to lower interest rates before you see a proposal from the administration to spend new money on WHO efforts.

That’s just the problem. He is more concerned about the image created by the reporting than he is about the underlying problem.
