The problem is that the mortality rate for those 70 and over is between 8-15% which is considerably larger than the flu. While it is true this is hardly the next black plague just think of the elderly here and those in 3rd world nations. While the regular flu kills hundreds of thousands a year this has the potential if it spreads far enough to kill millions of the most vulnerable. Anyway i don’t see any over reaction, most people in the west are living normal lives apart from those in hotspot areas in Italy. Schools and workplaces are functioning normally.
Italy is also reporting that at least 10% of cases require medical attention, think if tens of thousands are infected how will this impact hospitals which are already working to full potential
