For heavenā€™s sake, blessed beeā€™s wax? Soundā€™s like a lot of mumbo jumbo. I canā€™t believe any aspect of the church truely belives this. Itā€™s superstitious nonsense to be screaming the sky is falling. I need proof from the church, not a private person or personā€™s claiming to speak for God. Remember Oral Roberts? He should have been gone long ago. Why wouldnā€™t God send a warning like he did in history. He always gives humanity a chance to repent. It soundā€™s like a pagan ritual and not respect nor prayer to All -Mighty God. Jim Jones also had alot of his followers believe the world was gonna end according to what He said.

Werenā€™t the parts about the Great Warning, and Great Miracle from Garabandal? (an unnaproved site, IIRC)

(spent too much time reading this ā€“ time expired, so I couldnā€™t edit)
Actually, to me it sounds like the aftermath of a nuclear war.
Or several volcanos and/or calderas, and maybe a giant asteroid. (Something that can kick up a lot of dust as a precursor - which is probably why there would be a very cold night.).
Again is why would one want to be lucky enough to survive these three days what is the reward for doings soā€¦
Thatā€™s what Iā€™ve thought. If 3/4th of the world is wiped out, economy, governments, and essentially the way of life will collapse. For awhile, food will be hard to come by ā€“ unless youā€™re lucky enough to come upon a farm (much less know how to actually farm. i.e., I know you have to till the grass, but I have no idea of how to get the seeds out of wheat, much less even make wheat into bread.). It might be harder for the elderly (provided they donā€™t have a heart attack with all of the ruckus going on outside), and the disabled. I, for example, wouldnā€™t be able to get new hearing aids or batteries at a local college, or get eyeglasses and eye exams at the best hospital in the world. (provided that Iā€™m still around if everything goes to heck in a handbasket and all of Baltimore is taken out). Iā€™d be fumbling around a night, and probably not hear a tree falling or something.

I would imagine that many more would die trying to find food. It would take years for the world to recover (which is probably why there will be about 30-50 years of peace based on something I read ā€“ Iā€™m not sure if thatā€™s 100% valid or not. It was on a list of quotations from various saints about the Great Monarch, who I donā€™t think is a ā€œmonarchā€ in the traditional sense, but more of a leader who happens to have royal ancestors. That of course, can be true of almost any European or European descendant).
Yeah. I thought of that after I posted. šŸ™‚

As per duct tape (actually, I should have said ā€˜adhesive paperā€™) and blankets, I donā€™t know which visionary the author is quoting hereā€“he sites so manyā€“but somebody thought youā€™d need it:
opusdeialert.com/3daysofdarkness.htm
Thereā€™s the thing. I remember a story about a family that duct taped every window, vent, and doorway right after 9/11 when the government suggested that it would be a good idea to do that in case of a gas type attack. They died due to a build up in carbon dioxide (they suffocated on their own breath.) How much is enough?

Does anyone think this sounds a little like the Catholic Version of the ā€œLeft Behindā€ Series? Except the Good ones stay!

Sorry if that offends anyone! This is hard to swallow. Didnā€™t St. Teresa tell us not to be any more afraid of demons than flies on the wall or something like that? OR that they canā€™t hurt us, only tempt us?

DId anyone see that Simpsons episode called ā€œLeft Belowā€?? That was funny!

Secondly, Where I come from, those bitterly cold days happen about 6 months out of the year;)

Yeah, I remember that. After 9/11, everyone was running out to by duct tape. Crazy, huh? And all kinds of ā€˜disaster preparednessā€™ lists kept popping up everywhereā€¦But I still do keep extra bottled water in the house.

I think your point Jennifer, that we donā€™t need to be afraid because God is with us and that we shouldnā€™t panic, is a good one.

This one site, opusdeialert.com/3daysofdarkness.htm says that the Three Days have been announced by
ā€œBl. Anna-Maria Taigi, Padre Pio, Elizabeth Canori-Mora, Rosa-Colomba Asdente, Palma dā€™Oria, in Italy; Father Nectou, in Belgium; St. Hildegard, in Germany; Pere Lamy, Marie Baourdi, Marie Martel, Marie-Julie Jahenny, in France. (This list is not exhaustive; many more mystics have announced the Three Days.)ā€

So I suppose you could say the issue has piqued my interest.

Ann

No Catholic is required to believe any private revelations/prophecies. I think we all know you are in the category of not believing.

As for warnings, according to the prophecies, there will be a warning before the three days of darkness.

As for your insult about Jim Jones, etc., all I can say is there are many proclaimed Saints who spoke of the three days and so does the Old Testament.

No, ā€œsomeā€ of the good ones stay, many good people will die as a result of the chastisement.

It comes to whether or not you believe that God will chastise the world for its rampant sins.

Why? Doesnā€™t the Old Testament tell us that demons had relationships with women and produced a giant race that was ultimately destroyed in the flood.
I never heard of that. Can you tell me where in the Old Testament it says that?

No one but the person who recieved the messages can declare them authentic, and even then hallucinations exist. The Catholic Church does not declare private revelations as authentic. The only thing the Churchā€™s ā€œapprovalā€ means is that the Church finds nothing in the message is necessarily contrary to our Apostolic faith. The term used is ā€œworthy of beliefā€, meaning youā€™re not necessarily a nut to listen or believe itā€¦ what is this obsession with private revelation? Everyone always looking for the newest one! I guess our attention span really IS shortā€¦
The Church most certainly declares them to be authentic. The Church leaves the souls free to believe or not believe but that doesnā€™t mean they donā€™t declare them to be authentic. If the Church can change bread and wine into the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ then they are more than capable of determining if God really appeared to a soul. The Church through the Canonization process is able to determine if a soul is in Heaven so it is no problem for the Church to figure that out.

Here is a list of approved/not approved/judgment pending apparitions:

**From the time of Adam, God has spoken to His saints and prophets through visions, dreams, and inner voices . . . .
Miraculous events are common in the worlds of the Old and New Testaments, and the lives of the saints are marked by supernatural intervention. In our time, the Eternal Father seems to also be grabbing ordinary people from our midst to use as His mouthpieces. He is calling us to honor the covenant He made with us so that His ā€œwill be done on earth as it is in Heaven.ā€
The last century-and-a-half has seen numerous accounts of appearances of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Jesus, Himself, is said to speak to a few of the seers. Some of the apparitions have received official approval by the Roman Catholic Church. Common threads running through all the messages are: Jesus has been offended by the multiplication of against His Sacred Heart; and Mary exhorts humanity to prayer and repentance and an increased devotion to the sacraments, especially the Eucharist and Confession. A simple message, but the alternative, we are warned, is a great chastisement which will befall mankind.

Shoshana, forgive me, but Iā€™m a bit clueless here. That site is huge and I see nothing what-so-ever about three days of darkness on the main pageā€¦:o Could you steer me in the right direction?
