Noted. Not entertaining enough for you.
Please show me where I said I look to be entertained? I dont recall every saying that? šŸ™‚
Feel free to review all posts I have ever made. šŸ™‚

Is there any reason why you are deliberately twisting my words and striking out and attacking me? I have done nothing to cause you any injury.

I could handle it a couple of times a year. But other than that, too much pomp for my tastes.

I lost my focus and got bored by all the pageantry after awhile. That kind of honesty may bother some here, but that is what happened. I got bored by the pageantry.
Oh come on, you came into the traditional forum and declared how bored you were with the pagentry of a Pontifical High Mass?

Did you not realize that this Mass was an extremely important event for the the Church in the U.S. and very close to the heart of traditionalists?

Did you honestly not expect some uncharitable comments directed your way? Or did you come here to stir things up purposely?

Honestly? I did not expect uncharitable comments, no, considering the original post by OP. I honestly thought they were seeking real feedback from all kinds of people, even different opinions.

I try to believe that in the heart of every Catholic, regardless of their preference in the Mass, is a sincere and every burning desire to be a true and authentic desire to be a disciple of our Lord. I know that is my burning desire. And I know He knows it, too.

But its its also fair to say that I think I would find the most beautiful of all Masses would be those said by priests who are under fear of persecutions by governments who have either outlawed Christianity altogether or are highly intolerant. Those done in secret and hide-a-way places.

I think of those during the Catholic persecutions in Ireland of the past, during the Cold War in the Soviet Union etcetc. Or in prisons.

It may be a fair statement to say I am an odd ball as to what I consider beautiful. šŸ™‚

I find the Sacrific of Our Lord hanging on the Cross beautiful. 🤷
Others do not.

Stir up people on purpose? No. Ask Him. He knows my heart. He knows my authentic love and devotion to Him. He knows being a disciple of His is my ultimate desire, even if others question and skeptical of my every move.

How you judge me is between you and Him. I’ll leave that between the two of you . šŸ™‚

There’s nowhere else on the forum to discuss the pontifical High Mass, as far as I’m aware. Look, you have someone here who was interested enough to watch it and want to discuss it. Why try and drive that person away, especially when you have an opportunity to explain some of the pageantry? Accusing them of posting in bad faith and trying to stir things up is unfair. I’d be willing to bet you money that there were people in 1948 who, if given the choice, would prefer a regular Sunday missa cantata to a pontifical High Mass, so it isn’t untraditional or unheard to prefer the more ā€œregularā€ celebrations of the Mass.

For me personally, though, I thought it was beautiful, although I’m an architecture geek (in a sense; I don’t actually study it but I like to look at nice churches) so that alone was enough to draw me in.

Thank you for your kindness and consideration. šŸ™‚ Much appreciated. šŸ™‚

Not everyone in this forum is here in bad faith. Some of us are truly sincere.

Bored…not entertained.

ā€œBoredom: the desire for desiresā€ [Leo Tolstoy Anna Karenina]
ā€œBoredom is a sign of satisfied ignorance, blunted apprehension, crass sympathies, dull understanding, feeble powers of attention and irreclaimable weakness of characterā€ [James Bridie Mr. Bolfry]
ā€œOne can be bored until boredom becomes the most sublime of all emotionsā€ [Logan Pearsall Smith Afterthoughts]
ā€œBoredom is…a vital problem for the moralist, since half the sins of mankind are caused by the fear of itā€ [Bertrand Russell The Conquest of Happiness]

boreĀ·dom   [bawr-duhm, bohr-] Show IPA
–noun
the state of being bored; tedium; ennui.

Ockham, I sincerely dont know what is in your heart, your soul. Are you at complete peace with our Blessed Lord?

Do you have an overriding ā€œneedā€ to be ā€œrightā€? To be ā€œan authority?ā€

Im not getting the desires behind your post in how it relates to Our Lord and His over riding Love and Sacrifice for all His beloved?

You still have not demonstrated where I said I needed to be entertained. You are imposing You thoughts onto me (another word that can be used is ā€˜projecting’)

No where have I ever said that I need to be entertained.

There may be wisdom in understanding the difference between your thoughts from those of another. šŸ‘šŸ‘

šŸ™‚

You said the Mass bored you. That by extention means you weren’t entertained enough.

How dare you call into question what’s in my heart. Please take this passive aggresiveness somewhere else.

What is your agenda here?

Curiously, I was thinking the very same about you as you seem to have called into question my intentions. šŸ™‚
Best leave it to the Lord. He knows you, He knows me, and gratefully He knows what what is truth.

Im comfortable in that. šŸ‘
My God bless your soul as I know He has mine. 😃

You said the Mass bored you. Therefore your intention is to be better entertained. Stop spreading blame around and accept responsiblity for your frailty. If that Mass bored you then I really don’t care. Go find some liturgical dancing, puppets, balloons, evangelical preaching or whatever won’t bore you. May God have mercy on your soul.

I can see you haven’t taken the time to research and read all of my posts. If you had you would see where your comments pretty much are just ad hominem attacks and not based in reality.

God Bless. šŸ™‚

You said the Mass bored you, did you not? No, I don’t have time nor inclination to research and read all your posts. That’s quite a vain request, but fitting from someone easily bored. Your impression of yesterday’s Mass has been duly noted. Let’s move on shall we?

Your ad hominem attacks and evasiveness to the point at hand are duly noted, as is your lack of interest in seeking the truth and understanding of about another human being’s soul and intent.

Gratefully, I know Our Lord’s focus is of a different nature. And I have faith in His knowledge of my heart, and my posts. šŸ˜‰

  1. There was no ad hominem attack from me. Prove otherwise.
  2. Evasiveness? Did you say you were bored or not?
  3. I’m not interested in your intent. You stated you were bored. That’s all I need to know
  4. How do you know the Lord’s focus? Another vain statement
  5. Are your posts Divinely Inspired?
  6. Move on Marie. This exchange is boring.

  1. I’m not interested in your intent. .
🤷

What does being an authentic disciple of Jesus Christ mean to you?
I’m thinking what it means to me and what it means to you are two very different things?

Why don’t the two of you exchange phone numbers and fight about it elsewhere.
Your discussion is NOT ā€œentertainingā€.

Would the moderator step in, please.

My apologies, Cosair. šŸ™‚

I admit I dont feel like I am ā€œfightingā€ but rather in a conversation with someone who has a different ā€œprismā€ than I have. 😃

I always find it educational to be in an open discussion with someone who sees life and other situations (in this case the TLM at the National Shrine) different from me.

I can well appreciate, however, that you may not be seeing it that way.

But it does make me wonder what it means to others to be a disciple of Christ and with that, in how they deal with others souls and intents.

Ive always come away with the idea that I do not see the souls and heart of other the way that He does and so I should not be quick to condemn and judge another. That I really should leave that to Him.

It’s probably why I realize that there is a real need for the TLM for many who find it very enriching and uplifting and that Pope Benedict was wise. That doesnt mean to say it’s for everyone, but certainly is for many of God’s children and they shouldn’t be denied. šŸ™‚

I dont think my back and forth was ever ment to be ā€œentertainingā€ with Oackman (sp?)…(at least I know that was never my intent and find myself a bit baffled why the work ā€œentertainingā€ was even toss out in the conversation in the first place??)…

I really do think that a person’s soul and their intent should be part of the equation when evaluating their speech, or posts, or whatever. But it is fair to say that is a personal preference for me, and may not be a part of other’s way of making the same human evaluation. šŸ™‚

Is there something going on here that is against the forum rules that the moderators would feel a need to step in?

I agree. Marie, the OP asked what you thought of the Mass and you said it bored you. Fine. Duly noted. Move on.

LOL. šŸ™‚

You were the one who injected the word ā€œenteraintedā€ into the subject. A word I never used.

Just wanted to point out you were the one deliberately twisting words that I never said, with no desire to understand the intent of my heart, which the Lord clearly understands.

With that understanding and fact check nor an explanation of what being a disciple of the Lord means to you , I am more than willing to move on . šŸ‘

Have a wonderful and blessed week, the Lord lighting the way, be yours this week, Ockham. šŸ™‚
