Mr. Carnelian, I think that you are going too far with the last lady! Former striptease dancer? “Adult” products? How is she respectable in any way?

I love this painting! It seems simple yet is beautiful. And to me, it has a rather Marian theme.

I certainly don’t want women to think they are dirty. But you will get unwanted attention if you dress in skimpy clothes. I have a 13 year old daughter and she will never be allowed to dress like some of her friends. Thankfully she is a tom boy and cares more about animals, biking and basketball then she does about make up and belly button piercings.

Judge her actions. What she did and is doing are wrong. But she still should be treated with respect.

You mentioned that you feel comfortable in bikini and mini skirts because everyone wears them. Would you be wearing a bikini if you lived in the 50s? You would be expressing yourself within what is accepted by society.
I would not wear one in the 50’s because they were not modest back then. But I am thankful to the women who stood up and wore them and cleared the way for the rest of us. 🙂
What I wanted to add to the thread is that we do live in an oversexed society and your clothes can lead to men have sexual fantasies about you. If you don’t have a problem with that than either do I.
I really can’t let the fact that there are some perverts out there govern the way I live my life. If it’s hot, I’m going to wear shorts. If I’m going to the beach, I’m going to wear a bikini. If I don’t feel like wearing shoes, I will wear sandals. There may be pervs out there who will lust over legs, a bikini, or feet. Can’t please everyone.

The ratio of your postings with the words “bikini at the beach” (or essentially that phrase) to your postings that don’t have that is like 200:5.

The Holy Spirit has told us, through St Paul:

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

Galatians 6:2.

This thread would be a terrible reflection of the truth and beauty of Christian life as given to us in the Gospel or the rest of the Bible.

Endlessly whining on about “bikinis at the beach,” and drawing inflexible boundaries regarding Christian responsibility…this isn’t the Holy Gospel.

Our writings should reflect in tone and message a summation of the Gospel, No?

Isn’t that what we are called to do…to transfigure, with God’s grace, our whole life into something that is holy.

I don’t have a problem with having standards. As long as, they don’t view the person poorly when they do not meet what they think is appropriate. I was pretty much a mess when I joined the group. And far from modest and doing some sinful things. They have been the best thing to happen to me. I feel safe and happy in their group.

I have had unwanted attention of men. It is not that easy to fight them off. I was stalked by a police officer. He knew just how to make me uncomfortable (with the help of two friends) without crossing the line where I could report him. He eventually lost his job for exchanging sex for letting female offenders off.

As long as the secular society is pushing NSA sex as the norm, perverts are the norm. Boys are exposed to porn at young ages and it affects their view of women.

Well, they don’t stare at you and make you feel naked. Or make perverted remarks to you. Or do things in private while thinking about you. There are bullies in the world but there are far more men that are just oversexed because of the world we live in. And women add to it by how they act and dress, myself included.
I am sorry about your having been stalked. That man is seriously disturbed.

Porn has been around for a long time. Perverts are perverts because of various factors. We should not have to adjust our lifestyles to accomodate them.

I do not understand what you mean by ‘oversexed’. If you mean being obsessed with sex, then it is their issue and they should seek treatment if it causes them to do things like stalking someone or go live in the wilderness. There are women who are obsessed with sex too BTW. They should not blame the world we live in or other people for their own issues.

So when you finally run the questioning down to the end of the line, the modesty relativists on this thread can see saintly people on this Earth running around naked in public places if considered socially acceptable without even a fig leaf for the modern Adam & Eve to hide their shame. That is the extrapolation of the fashion trend, is it not? Nothing immodest about it, right? We must be coming into end times, because we’ve come full circle with the Adam & Eve fashion statement.
There are nudist camps and beaches where people commune, sunbathe etc. They are nothing to do with sexual or deviant behaviour. It would take very confident and accepting of your body to be in one. The majority of people do not have perfect, flat abs, firm, toned bodies. I would never be in one. Would seeing so many naked people and their bits on show be a turn on and incite lust? How would it for sane people? Adam and Eve knew shame because of their sin. It was not their naked bodies that was a cause of shame.

When my youngest boy was in 5th grade, the janitor at his school was harassing him. My son told him that if he didn’t stop, his mom would beat him up. LOL! He was a little embarrassed when he made the football team and some of the seniors asked him how much his mother benched 🙂
Thats sweet. How much do you bench BTW?

Honestly, sometimes I feel as though a man who urges women to cover up so much all the times views them more sexually than a man who doesn’t think there is anything scandalous about wearing a bikini to the beach.
Absolutely!

Indeed, they made me feel worthless and nobody gave two cents about me which is still just as bad. I’m just saying that just because there’s more of one type of bad guy doesn’t make the things that make them awful any more worse.
I wonder about those bullies. Where were their parents in all these? When young, dealing with your own insecurities, trying to find yourself and then to have to deal with bullies? It must have been so difficult for you but you seem to have come out of it fine, a strong person.

Haha its not just you, I think that about them all the time. ducks

Its definitely not old anymore and it permeates this forum generally. However sometimes all it takes is for them to actually engage with someone ‘from the other side’ so to speak for them to come to their senses.
