Top papal aide says Vatican ‘worried’ about Trump’s refugee order

Even if we didn’t have Trumps order the US and other countries, including the Vatican, turn away refugees in need. That is sort of like saying if I don’t give money to every beggar I’m turning away the hungry.

I’ve already said I don’t know. I’ve asked for people to enlighten me. All I get is more people telling me I’m wrong without any specifics. I’m not claiming the Pope is ignorant.
I gave you specifics.

This doesn’t exactly surprise me given as one of the articles said, it is an issue close to the heart of the Pontiff, whom of course Catholics believe is the Vicar of Christ on earth.
True. I think the Pope will clash with Trump over many issues. In many ways Trump is one of the most “anti-Catholic” presidents in recent history. Anti-Catholic in the sense of his positions on the social Gospel of the Church being at odds with the Church.

His, Trump’s, support of the death penalty, denial of climate change, more military spending and denial of a right to health care (repealing the ACA) will put him on a collision course with US bishops and the Pope. The Pope is reticent to get directly involved in the national affairs of any country but, when an un-Christian policy such as the Muslim ban is implemented, the Pope has no choice but to speak out.

Actually if you read the article, the aide to Pope Francis said there is worry because we are messengers to openness… Not just him.

And he went on to say “Pope Francis insists on the ability to integrate those who arrive in our societies and cultures. All Christians should be strong in reaffirming this message.”

And the article cited Archbishop Chaput who is often a favorite to be quoted on CAF saying there are “few embodiments of the weak more needy or compelling than refugees,” and it is for this reason that the Church in the United States has reacted “so strongly, so negatively - and so properly - to President Trump’s executive orders of January 28.”

Again, general concerns are one thing, and that’s fine for churchmen and perhaps appropriate to their role. Concrete actions are something entirely different, and so far I have seen none proffered by any churchmen. But state authorities have to face the more difficult task of actually formulating and implementing practical policies geared to protecting the citizenry.

So far, I have seen no direct Church condemnation of the concrete actions of this government in attempting to more closely scrutinize people coming from seven countries, all of which are terrorist havens.

The Church won’t condemn or endorse this policy. They want to make sure that the USA isn’t going to refuse immigrants and refugees blatantly. I can already tell you that’s not possible to keep this economy going.

This entire situation has been flared up for political reasons, mainly because the SJW left across the West is losing election after election.

Those who have failed to criticize the Obama Administration for implementing almost the exact same policy for SIX years should really check their current events monitoring and where there information comes from.

As for the refugees, they are being used as political pawns so people can virtue-signal about how righteous they are. So very brave with all of these safe, easy opinions all over the media.

People keep saying how outraged they are over this, yet no one seems outraged enough to go to Syria and start a mission or fight the terrorists.

Same old song and dance.

Unfortunately, there is also money in refugee resettlement. I really didn’t understand that until I was told by a person with our diocesan charitable organization about it and how it’s often grossly abused. So there really is money, and a lot of it, behind importing refugees. I learned a little more from another poster on CAF as to how the agencies involved in refugee importation and “resettlement” work, and who they are. I encourage anybody who is interested in knowing about it to google “volag”, which is the acronym for those organizations. Look at the list carefully. Here it is. There are nine of them.

So the Pope only supports refugees in an attempt to line his own pockets? Seriously, I didn’t think the defamation of the Pope could go any lower, and yet it does.

That’s not what he said and you know it

So exactly how is the Vatican making money from refugee?

This is the kind of stuff I used to hear from fundamentalists.
Wow.

Really? He said that he understood the Church’s support for refugees only after finding out how much money is in that business. What is that supposed to mean? What other conclusion is the reader supposed to draw?

You should take a second look before you fly off the handle

I’m not surprised they are worried. They probably get their info from CNN. As Jeffrey Zucker pointed out CNN controls the international news market. They get to shape the opinion of foreigners. I can’t imagine why anyone would be worried about the US taking a pause, even very long pause, from accepting immigrants.
Right. I think they are watcing CNN. But they have been watching CNN, figuratively speaking, for some time now. Since the Trump presidency though, the gloves have come off a little bit and this slant if I can call it that has become much more open. To be fair I think the thinking behind it is: the ban is more largely about ‘justice’ after all. In response to terror I believe we open the doors wider. (don’t quote me on that but I am probably pretty close) Last point, unfortunately when you follow your conscience based on watching CNN, the facts themselves are likely to have long been relegated to the ‘rigid’ bin.

I have taken plenty of looks at the scorn and derision being heaped on the bishops and the Pope by posters here, thanks. What was said, and has been said in other posts and other threads, speaks for itself.

This justifies you bearing false witness?

**Vatican expands criticism of Trump’s travel ban
The Vatican is criticizing U.S. President Donald Trump’s immigration policy, with a senior official voicing concern and the Vatican newspaper saying Trump’s recourse to walls and travel bans is counterproductive to America’s economic interest…
The Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano headlined a front-page editorial Wednesday with the words “Closure isn’t progress.”
The newspaper said protests by U.S. corporations to Trump’s travel ban against citizens of seven majority-Muslim nations showed that “closing doors to immigrants means depriving the country of potentially important resources.”**
