I suppose my sentence was too long for clarity. Forgive me. I differentiated between the two theories, although you seemed to have added third. The second theory is a variant of Freud’s theory that homosexual men have a developmental arrest, since they have never completed the formation of their male personality because they have not successfully negotiated their identification with the aggressor: that is, their father, and his normative and moral values. IOW, these men are still sexually attracted and attached to their mother. This theory is not based on sexual abuse or neglect by either parent, which is the notion Sam was referring to. My reference to Dr. Bachmann was due to his well-known conservative views regarding homosexuals and intended more as light-hearted humor than mean-spirited ridicule. I think your extrapolation, while understandable, goes a little too far. My other comment referred to the effects–sexual and otherwise–on children who are raised by gay couples, which is an issue related to the origins of homosexuality but unrelated to the sexual abuse hypothesis. Just because we don’t have all the answers regarding the development of homosexual preference doesn’t mean we can’t rule out certain ideas which are seemingly incorrect.
Your joke was at Mr. Bachmann’s expense, which makes it ridicule. Whether you meant anything by it or not, you went along with the agenda to slur him, to make him lose his credibility by slur. You’ve got to be careful about whose bandwagon you’re jumping on, whose rhetoric you copy. If you haven’t noticed, the anti-Chrisitan agenda uses alienation as a way of proselytizing. It’s part of the Delphi technique of gaining group consensus. If one person dares question the way the group is being led, the leader alienates him so that no one wants to support them and be alienated also. Ridiculing someone’s intelligence is their number one method. It’s become so cliche, that if I start hearing Leno or others making stupid jokes about someone, I take a second look to see what great good he/she might be accomplishing that someone has decided to quash. Or you can just follow the herd.
