Transgender kids: Painful quest to be who they are

The second theory is a variant of Freud’s theory that homosexual men have a developmental arrest, since they have never completed the formation of their male personality because they have not successfully negotiated their identification with the aggressor: that is, their father, and his normative and moral values. IOW, these men are still sexually attracted and attached to their mother. This theory is not based on sexual abuse or neglect by either parent, which is the notion Sam was referring to. My reference to Dr. Bachmann was due to his well-known conservative views regarding homosexuals and intended more as light-hearted humor than mean-spirited ridicule. I think your extrapolation, while understandable, goes a little too far. My other comment referred to the effects–sexual and otherwise–on children who are raised by gay couples, which is an issue related to the origins of homosexuality but unrelated to the sexual abuse hypothesis. Just because we don’t have all the answers regarding the development of homosexual preference doesn’t mean we can’t rule out certain ideas which are seemingly incorrect.
I suppose my sentence was too long for clarity. Forgive me. I differentiated between the two theories, although you seemed to have added third.

Your joke was at Mr. Bachmann’s expense, which makes it ridicule. Whether you meant anything by it or not, you went along with the agenda to slur him, to make him lose his credibility by slur. You’ve got to be careful about whose bandwagon you’re jumping on, whose rhetoric you copy. If you haven’t noticed, the anti-Chrisitan agenda uses alienation as a way of proselytizing. It’s part of the Delphi technique of gaining group consensus. If one person dares question the way the group is being led, the leader alienates him so that no one wants to support them and be alienated also. Ridiculing someone’s intelligence is their number one method. It’s become so cliche, that if I start hearing Leno or others making stupid jokes about someone, I take a second look to see what great good he/she might be accomplishing that someone has decided to quash. Or you can just follow the herd.

I don’t believe Dr. Bachmann has much credibility on this particular issue. I admire him for his religious convictions but not for his psychological insight. I am not, however, denying his intelligence, but rather the correctness of his views. I regard my own views as part of no agenda.

You’re right about the diverse theories concerning the causes of homosexuality. However, the vast majority of psychologists and psychiatrists today do not agree with the sexual abuse notion, although, as you point out, there are a few holdouts. Science, like the law, is based on a preponderance of evidence rather than a handful of isolated studies, whose methodology may at times be questionable. Your own experience as a foster parent may have led your thinking on the issue in this direction, but most homosexuals on record have not suffered sexual abuse. The other theory I spoke about in my last post–a Freudian variant, in which a father-son bond is missing–is somewhat more popular, but also not consistent with most current thinking.
and then there is this viewpoint …
Romans 1:26
God has given them over to shameful passions. Even the women pervert the natural use of their sex by unnatural acts. In the same way the men give up natural sexual relations with women and burn with passion for each other. Men do shameful things with each other
and…
not only do they continue to do these very things, but they even approve of others who do them.

I feel for you, truly, truly I do. We had some California guys in the Air Force, and they were decent enough guys; but even back then, they fully admitted that their home state was, in the words of the one guy from L.A., “just like a bowl of cereal: you take out the fruits and the nuts, and all you got left are the flakes”.

Maybe all you normal folks out there should band together, form a militia, and confine the loonytoons to reservations in the Mojave Desert, or something.
Isnt that why Big Sis and the Big O declared war on Arizona?

This is child abuse, pure and simple.

This is a good reason why Lesbians and Homsexuals should not be allowed to adopte children

Agreed. I cannot see how anyone would think that is a good idea. Children need both a mother and a father. Sure, it sometimes happens that a child may lose a parent, but the ideal is still a mother and a father.

Apparently in our devil-run society, the right of a parent to have a child supercedes the right of the child to have the right type of parenting. I.e., the needs of the parent outweight the needs of the child.

Oh…

That is so well said.

It comes down to this; Can homosexuality be cultivated or is it inate…?

Romans 1:26 is God telling us that it is cultivated, but evil satin and his minions blow smoke and keep us confused about that.

Actually, ALL people, not most, come from opposite gender parents. It still takes a man and a woman to make a baby even if it is done artificially.
Someday, these “Californians” will challange that too. They will find a way to route their intestinal tract out their belly buttons and use their colon cavity for a womb.

I know you think I’m crazy, but just mark my words…

Swizzle Stick begs the question, and I think it’s worth exploring… What are the long term effects on society and on the individual of birth control pills.
