In fact, much more has already been discussed including the fact that the legally relevant authorites, having revieed the evidence, elected not to prosecute.
Their “conclusion” is being reviewed.
You notice that too?

Just saw that on a separate thread. The headline “Martin Attacked Zimmerman” is misleading.
We don’t know why Martin may have attacked Zimmerman, but the witness confirms Zimmerman’s claim that he did.

That really bothers me. They use this baby-faced picture of a 12-year old, but then it turns out he was a handsome football player at 6’ 3", he was close to 18 y.o., and he beat up the other man real good.
aw, poor guy. 😦

Seems like in the end, Zimmerman handled himself pretty effectively though.

The fatal shooting of an unarmed teenager in Florida has prompted protests demanding the arrest of the perpetrator, who says he was acting in self-defence. How much force does the law permit?

On a dark and rainy February night, George Zimmerman sat in his car in Sanford, Florida, a legally-carried 9mm pistol by his side.

There had been a rash of crime in the community, Mr Zimmerman later said, and on that night, the neighbourhood watch volunteer grew wary when a young black man in a hooded sweatshirt appeared.

In a recording of a 911 call released by police, Mr Zimmerman, in his truck, tells a dispatcher that a “real suspicious guy” who “looks like he’s up to no good or he’s on drugs” was walking through the neighbourhood.

Mr Zimmerman, 28, can be heard huffing and puffing as though he is running, and he tells the dispatcher he is following the person. The dispatcher says: “OK, we don’t need you to do that.”

Seconds later, a confrontation and a struggle ensued, and a shot was fired. Trayvon Martin, 17, was struck in the chest and died. Mr Zimmerman was detained and questioned by the local police department, then released without charges. He told police Martin had started the fight and that he shot in self-defence.

The incident sheds light on Florida’s seven-year-old self-defence law, which critics say is too lenient. The law, nicknamed a “stand your ground” or “shoot first” statute, gives protection from criminal prosecution or civil liability to people who claim self-defence after a shooting or violent incident.

I’ll admit right now that I have not read through this thread.

I have read several articles about the shooting and it seems there is a witness who saw Trayvon Martin assaulting Zimmerman.

This story seems to be like so many others, get the race baiters out there and declare it murder.

Now Zimmerman has to go into hiding because his life has been threatened.

Well, ya know, he had a GUN and it was loaded with REAL bullets
and he fired it into the boy and killed him.

Abortion? What? Where did that come from?
The civil rights leaders’ turnaround on the issue of abortion (e.g. Sharpton and Jesse Jackson) in order to attain power and money for themselves and get in with the right crowd, calls into question their credibility on any issue, imo. The about face on that issue on the part of Sharpton and Jackson is well documented. So hopefully that answers your question.

Well, most people don’t pay attention to Jackson, but Sharpton certainly. He is not the voice of the civil rights movement. He is bombastic and egotistical. He is the fringe.

He (I’m assuming you mean Sharpton) certainly gets a lot of exposure on the cable networks, but I suppose that doesn’t translate into leadership of the civil rights movement. Incidentally, what exactly is the civil rights movement at this point and what would their goals be?

I meant that they don’t pay attention to Sharpton.

The Civil Rights movement hasn’t ended. Institutionalized discrimination and oppression continue.

I know that, sadly, many don’t believe this and hense, all the more reason to continue the fight when it is needed.
