:rotfl:

Maybe it’s not very nice of me :o to be laughing, but I couldn’t help it (and I know maryjk that you were being sarcastic).

However as I was flipping the TV channels the other day, right after police released the info that Martin went after Zimmerman as he was going back to his truck, and M decked Z with a single punch to the nose - I tuned in to Nancy Grace’s TV show, and she said Martin had all the right to be p*ssed off at Z following him earlier, and that it is really understandable that M reacted by turning back on Z and decking Z with a punch.
I say this with the most amount of charity and love that I can muster.

Nancy Grace is an idiot. I have no idea what god she worships to be entitled to a TV show.

Kind og hard to believe 17-year old Martin knocked out GZ with one punch--------sorry, have you seen the photos of GZ?------------------but hey, maybe it did happen…let’s see…

As to what NG said, I was saying the same thing in an earlier post.

Nice post.

Whatever they uncover…I hope it’s soon!
Your not kidding, did you happen to catch Bobby Rush at the Congressional Hearing today with a Hoodie on?😃

They couldn’t get him away from the microphone. They aren’t allowed to wear hoods or hats. What a side show. 😦

Congressional rules are Congressional rules. Shame on Bobby Rush for sensationalizing a local issue in the People’s House.

True. Very true. She always comes off to me like she is going to pop out of the TV screen and punch the nearest viewer. :D:p
She also plays an “act” every time-----------the outraged prosecutor who’s trying to get justice.
Still, even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

And in this case, she was in the right place about her implication that Martin could have felt threatened by Zimmerman and acted tragically unthinkingly. 😦

LOL as to what you said, though. 👍

I actually haven’t seen any television coverage…don’t have a television.

The level some are stooping to is just unreal. Let the man go, charge him, do something, and lets start getting this over with.

Indeed.

I am all for showing support to Trayvon’s family and friends, but it is inappropriate for a legislator to turn an ongoing investigation into political hay, whilst violating Congressional decorum, to boot. :ouch:

Sheryl Lee Ralph (African-American actress, for those who don’t know) was also pulling the same stunt last night in Nancy Grace. Cause of the day for her, to be honest. She also looked VERY ridiculous with a hoodie on.

I saw her and thought “oh please…let’s stop with the grandstanding.”
I support the Martin and Zimmerman’s family in their quest for the truth, but this is just grandstanding and capitalization on a horrendous tragedy.

Shame----for shame.

CNN anchor Nancy Grace’s aggressive interviewing technique has come under fire following the suicide death of Melinda Duckett, a 21-year-old Florida woman whom Grace grilled after the disappearance of the woman’s 2-year-old son.

After this incident, I am surprised she is still allowed to comment on the cleanliness of the toilets at Penn Station.

I’ve seen it all these last 4-years. I hope they do “anything” but create a riot. 🤷

Unless he is like the fictional character Quentin Tarantino played on Pulp Fiction, where he was allowed to use the word “n----r” to Samuel L. Jackson because he happened to be married to a black woman, or unless he has a lot of black friends who allow him to use words like “n----r” and “c–n” in their presence because he is an “honorary black man” and “their brotha,” I don’t see Zimmerman being allowed to use the word “c–n” in any acceptable context.:D:p

And yes, there IS a double standard in blacks using that term around each other but whites cannot------but that is a TOTALLY different discussion that is not relevant here and is for another time and place. Plus, it would derail the thread, of course. 👍

And do you see Zimmerman, who is half-hispanic, Btw, using the term (allegedly) “c–n” in a friendly way regarding Martin?

Call me “biased” or “close-minded” here, but I just don’t see GZ using that term (if that was what was said) in anything other than a derogatory manner. And of course, Hispanics can be just as racist as whites and even other blacks towards black people.

My opinion, as always.
Yep.
You make some good points. I would however say that it is strange for a man like Zimmerman who helps black folks on the weekend as has black friends that defend him to be at his core racist. If he said c…n, I don’t know why.

He also simply looked STUPID and RIDICULOUS in that get-up. 😃

Our tax money at work…🙂

Then maybe I can help, I’m a lawyer. 🙂

Long story short, Black’s is what is called a persuasive authority. Courts must take into account binding authorities, whereas they may follow persuasive ones.

Black’s can be of help in situations where there is no binding authority that has already defined the term.
ok. thanks for clearing that up. :tiphat:

Whatever they uncover…I hope it’s soon!
I hope it matters then. But so much has gone down, and too many have already made up their minds without all (or any) of the facts does not give me much hope.

I’ll give you the fact that it may indeed NOT be the word “c–n” you hear on the tape----it’s too ambigous for it to be ever deciphered probably—unless the authorities pull out all the stops and spend money on some sophisticated sound equipment that will tease out the actual word. Whoch i doubt the authorities will in this case.

I will say, though, there IS evidence from some quarters that Zimmerman was obsessed with the security of the neighborhood and may have been taking his job as Neighborhood watch guy WAY too seriously.
His friends even admit he was heavily involved in the crime-fighting in the area. And may have been OBSESSED with it.

Maybe he got “ovezealous” (which many people are implying he did) and maybe decided to go " step beyond" his duty regarding Treyvon.

I don’t know----maybe, maybe, maybe not.

The district attorney definitely should look into ALL angles of this case----including this. Worth looking into like almost everything else here.

Unless he felt the guy was out to do him harm, like he implied to his girlfriend on the phone. Maybe of GZ had identified himslef from the beginning instead of asking menacingly “What are you doing here” like what supposedly his girlfriend heard--------then maybe TM supposedly would not have freaked.
The tragic part is - when people talk to each other, politely, things usually get resolved peacefully - so, why couldn’t these two people (Martin and Zimmerman) have a nice and polite conversation? It could have been resolved so easily.

But Zimmerman’s 911 call depicts Martin as someone acting truly strangely: he “is checking out houses”, he is coming to Z’s truck to check out Z, as Z is talking on the phone. Then, according to Z, Z starts to follow him with his truck and on foot, and M runs away, however later on M returns and punches Z in the nose. This is Zimmerman’s version of the events.

However, Martin’s girlfriend presents a different version of the events. According to her version, Z is following Martin, Z catches up with M, Martin asks “what are you following me for?”, and at this point Z pushes Martin and the cell phone falls to the ground and goes silent.

To my mind, the two versions of the events are conflicting and irreconcilable, and I don’t know who’s telling the truth and whose story contains deliberate falsities.

Apparently his neighborhood had experienced a rash of break ins recently. Maybe he was being a responsible home owner and neighbor. 🤷
