Podo,
you do not know what you are talking about.

Ad Orientem.

The sun rises from the East, symbolizing the resurrection. In the Second Comming, Jesus is also comming from the East.

Tch, tch… you make it look like all the No. masses are like that.
Different parishes… come to my parish and you would see what a true NO. mass is, which is THE mass.

…well in the NEW mass they don’t face east they face the congregation. The way it should be done. They changed it
Change is ALWAYS better, or does the signature apply here?

Yes i do know what im talking about Iohannes. We should prepare for Jesus’ second coming yes, but there is nothing wrong with facing the people! If you’re speaking east then the congregation are more like spectators(because you are not talking really to them) when you talk to someone do you not face them? Or do you face east?

Podo,

You Obviously don’t know anything about the Catholic faith. Facing East is an ancient practice that is followed by many rites of the Church.
With all due respect, objectively this is not a good form of persuasion.

The changes made by the Novus Ordo Mass are, as whole, executed to conform to the anglican, and lutheran versions of liturgy. It was to remove the primary obstacles that these sects had to the Roman Catholic Worship…the Mass as a Sacrifice, and the Real Presence. The idea was to make it acceptable and thus “bring in” these sects to the Catholic Church. Overall, we lost far more Catholics than we gained from these sects. In this process we also lost the Priest vocations which are down 80% from 1975.

The traditionalist insists that it was a failed idea. The hierarchy believes we did not do enough, and more innovation is in order.

You decide for yourself.

But, with few exceptions (“Orate Fratres”, “Dominus Vobiscum”, et al.), the priest isn’t talking to the people; he’s talking to God. And while those assisting at Mass should not be spectators (and I have never seen them be so), they also should not be led to believe that the Mass is solely about them, their wants, and their entertainment. What the Mass is about is the priest in persona Christi offering up the Sacrifice to the Father.

Also, just as an aside: I take great offense at your numerous implications that those who attend the Traditional Latin Mass are somehow living in a time-warp. I don’t know about you, but I was taught that it was sinful (not to mention extremely rude) to libel an entire group of people like that.

Actually, the Priest is addressing God except in the vernacular Scripture readings and homily.

By the way, your signature:
( may all men and women realise that they are priests in God’s Kingdom" -St John Brebeuf Parish )

I believe was first insisted upon by Martin Luther, in opposition to the Catholic Ordained priesthood.

Martin Luther to Pope Leo X:

For the Full Text:
Here you will ask: "If all who are in the Church are priests by what character are those, whom we now call priests, to be distinguished from the laity? " I reply: By the use of these words, “priest,” “clergy,” “spiritual person,” “ecclesiastic,” an injustice has been done, since they have been transferred from the remaining body of Christians to those few, who are now, by a hurtful custom, called ecclesiastics. For Holy Scripture makes no distinction between them, except that those, who are now boastfully called popes, bishops, and lords, it calls ministers, servants, and stewards, who are to serve the rest in the ministry of the Word, for teaching the faith of Christ and the liberty of believers. For though it is true that we are all equally priests, yet we cannot, nor, if we could, ought we all to minister and teach publicly. Thus Paul says “Let a man so account of us as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.” (1 Cor. iv. 1.)
This bad system has now issued in such a pompous display of power, and such a terrible tyranny, that no earthly government can be compared to it, as if the laity were something else than Christians. Through this perversion of things it has happened that the knowledge of Christian grace, of faith, of liberty, and altogether of Christ, has utterly perished, and has been succeeded by an intolerable bondage to human works and laws; and, according to the Lamentations of Jeremiah, we have become the slaves of the vilest men on earth, who abuse our misery to all the disgraceful and ignominious purposes of their own will.

hahaha i’m glad i made you laugh! And anyways they were before vatican II im sure they would have been up to change unlike so many people like you who live in the past. The priest is supposed to face the people.
You are so funny too:rotfl: Facing God instead of the people:rotfl: In case you haven’t noticed, God is present EVERYWHERE! so if the priest faces the congregation he’s facing God. He’s not just present were that priest is looking.
(calms down) You guys can be so funny some times… ok i better not kill myself now:rotfl:
Podo:rotfl:
You continue to make us laugh my your immence ignorance (you probably mean well) regarding LITURGY. May I suggest liturgy 101? wow, you comaper the people in the pew with God, who’s face is to be ADORED? By the way, yes, after Vatican II the “catholic liturgy” seems par and par with the Lutheran, and Anglican: But I guess you would say nothing ever goes wrong: liturgical dancers, clown masses, a jeep for an altar(violation of the SAME Novus Ordo rules actually), etc.?? may I suggest reading the Book “Mass Confusion” promoted here by Catholic Answers.

Once again, if you think these pictures are so scandalous, then why are YOU spreading the scandal?

Public or private, YOU are the one who posted the scandalous pictures. YOU are the one who is spreading the scandal. I had never seen those particular photos although I’m sure I could find them in some schismo publications which is probably where you found them. **And please, please don’t revert back to the same old argument that what the libs do is way worse. Two wrongs don’t make a right! ** You want to burn these pics onto a CD and send them off to the appropriate Church authorities, more power to you. Send them to the CDW, Congregation for Bishops, etc. This technique works. You scandalizing the rest of the faithful and probably some protestants to boot does nothing but scandalize the laity and probably some protestants to boot.

This reminds me ALL of that famous saying: THE TRUTH HURTS. Somehow I knew bear06 just HAD to respond.

Yes, but the truth must be withheld from someone if its revelation might do more harm than good, i.e. scandal. This is traditional Catholic teaching, one that every pre-Vatican II confessor would have been aware of.

These pitures are in no way called for, and have nothing to do with the discussion at hand. Neither are they typical of the way the Bogus Ordo is celebrated.

Not only that, the mods have asked you to stop posting them. If you feel compelled to post them, just provide a link.

I would appreciate it if you did not state half truths here: never has any moderator mentioned anything to ME on this. Also,l with all kindness and respect: you are not my first grade teacher, and I am not in first grade: don’t attack me.

If you want to be taken seriously, act like it. Posting rediculous, irrlevant picture, for scandalous shock value, serves no possible good, especially whn said pics are accompanied by no documentation.

A picture of the Holy Father making a funny face, for example, shouldn’t be at all scandalous. It shows he’s a human being with a sense of humor. I’m sure you would have hated Saint Philip Neri, or any one of the Eastern Churches’ several “Holy Fools for Christ.”
