Those of you nit picking about Obama’s name, Donald’s original family name is Drumph. It’s irrelevant isn’t it?

It isn’t like Obama had any choice who his dad was and what his name was.

If you need Drama about a name change, Don Draper changing from Richard Whitman is a more interesting story.

Then why not include his first name. I assume they were proud of that also, since they put that first.

It seems to me that people who drop Mr Obama’s first name, or include his middle name, are not doing it out of respect for his parent’s naming choices, but rather as a way to show disrespect.

It’s the same way the people call Mr Trump, Drumpf (family name 2 or 3 generations back). It is rude and uncalled for.

Perhaps we should follow the rules of the Journal, and call everyone Mr. or Miss, or Mrs. and proper last name. It harkens back to that more polite period people want to return to.

I am with you on this but name calling in this Forum is pretty common. Not much respect is shown on the President whom they do not support.

Edit: btw Hussein is a pretty common Muslim name somewhat made famous the a former Iraqi President.

One’s name does not indicate one’s religion. My legal is Sarah. Does that mean I should be Jewish and you should doubt my Christianity?

Well, in the case of Sarah, that is a biblical name, and since Christians include the Hebrew Bible in their canon, it is appropriate. I do agree with your comment concerning the intent behind using Hussein with regard to Obama. (BTW, my mother’s name was Sara, but without the h, so I am partial toward that name.) However, as Shakespeare writes, “What’s in a name?”

I also like the name. It seems to be making a comeback. I always think that Sara is missing something. I was taught that Sara is the English spelling and Sarah is the Hebrew spelling.

Old biblical names are neat. Wish more people named their kids with them. I’ll say, though, that old biblical names have become more popular for boys in recent years. Not so much for girls.

One more digression and I’ll quit. One that rubs me wrong is the name usually rendered “Caitlin” and pronounced by people “Kate-lin”. An Irishman learned in his Gaelic informed me that “Caitlin” is nothing but an Irish spelling of the name pronounced “Kathleen”. There’s no such name as “Kate-lin”, he said to me, he did.😉

Why on Earth would you think he wasn’t under surveillance? Of course he’s under surveillance to a degree none of us can even fathom, and has been since before he even announced his candidacy. FBI, CIA, NSA, DIA, INR, Mossad, Al Mukhabarat Al A’amah, GCHQ, etcetera ad nauseum all have him under the microscope, as they do us all. To imagine this has anything to do with partisan politics is to misunderstand the situation entirely.

There was a FISA request for “checking” Trump server which was denied, an October one which was approved and another FBI investigation of the same server which Comney pretended didnt need any approval.
Biggest problem is that the moment they access the server secretly nothing stops the Intel persons to copy confidential files. Also after Obama left office, such leftists accessed Trump confidential files in white house and leaked them to the press taking advantage of Obama last exec order that shared the information between Intel agencies.
Part of the same big problem is that there was no legal reason for investigations of Trump server, no proof of any wrongdoing. You can add to this mess the dossier which was fabricated against Trump, which supported behind the back rumors and leaks that there is an illegal connection between Trump and Russia. When became public the dossier was dumped. The dossier I think was brought in after they saw they did not find anything on Trump and he won the election. Looks like nobody mentioned it until late after election.
And after election liberals started rumors and lies about Trump connection to Russia, even they knew there was no wrongdoing.

Comney said there is no such thing as privacy for the Intel agencies…Problem is they can’t keep the information confidential because of the political interference. And that information can be used as the Democrats did to try to ruin people reputation by mixing the lies with some confidential truth.

When did he say that?

I know of a recent statement he made on privacy which was delivered on Wednesday 8 March 2017 at a Boston College conference on cybersecurity. Parts of it follow:
Comney:
There is no such thing as absolute privacy in America; there is no place outside of judicial reach,…] Even our communications with our spouses, with our clergy members, with our attorneys are not absolutely private in America, …] In appropriate circumstances, a judge can compel any one of us to testify in court about those very private communications.

Barry was the name he answered to most of his life before he decided to enter politics; Soetoro was the name he adopted from his stepfather before he decided to take his father’s name, allegedly for political purposes. Most of his life he was know as Barry Soetoro.

Not so much an insult as an example of his political intransigence.

Just like Dubya was intransigent in some things, and even Trump. Was not trying to be OT or “disrespectful,” but was just being sarcastic about their true natures.

I do not have to be respectful of a President I did not vote for and who helped push through the evil of Legally Sanctified Gay Marriage through the courts and who defended Planned Parenthood to the last syllable.
Dubya as well for the Iraq war and other things. Trump in many things as well (though he is better than the previous two----that I will admit).

The discussion can now continue without me and I will not post another remark in this thread. 👍👍
