Not sure how that is relevant to his actions as president.

No, and neither can he deprive Congress or the power to tax with this deferment, not that he ever read the Constitution. What he signed was a legislative order under the name of an executive order.

Here is the 16th:
The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.

The President cannot change and deprive Congress of the power to collect income tax by executive order. The taxes that are not collected are still due and do not go away. It is smoke and mirrors that will cause extreme financial hardship for those who do not go ahead and send in their tax payments anyway, or store it in savings.

I know if that garbage starts here, I am going to mail in the tax payment directly. I do not want to be left in dire straits in April because of this madness.

I think his trolley has derailed. The TikTok thing was weird, but spending money that is not allocated, and therefore can’t be spent, ordering states to send out payments without that authority, and this whole tax deferment for four months, when the taxes will then all come due right after, is a whole new level of crazy. I do not know if what I see is a problem of intelligence, sanity, or ego.
 
He’s a pretty hypocritical nationalist if he can’t put his money where his mouth is. American manufacturing and jobs for American workers (supposedly), but cheap foreign labour for him!

Defer payroll taxes then dangle “forgiveness if re-elected”? Sounds like he is attempting to buy votes with someone else’s money. It’s a hard pass for my business. I will continue to pay so as to avoid an expensive surprise later.
 
It’s coming. My company is aware of 250+ industrial infrastructure projects by different companies in an effort to on-shore manufacturing

Can’t blame the guy for reacting to years of terrible US government policy. Fact is, he is the only one willing to call it out and try to fix it. You go to war with the army you have, not the one you want.
 
I am sure many will ignore it. I has no force of law. There are no penalties associated with an executive order, as that would require legislation. He does have executive authority over all the executive branch of the federal government and can mandate and enforce a suspension of payroll taxes among most federal employees, including the military, though the tax debt will still have to be payed by April 15th.

You are exactly right. We have allowed the general government to usurp far more power than it was granted in the constitution.
Let’s go back to article 1, section 8.
