Well, considering there are 50 states I don’t see much reason that the average American would know who the governor of Ohio is – except for particular circumstances like him/her running for president.
Outside of Ohio and Michigan, where Kasich spends the bulk of his time, I don’t think the average American knows Kasich from me. At least not until the primaries. So I don’t think he’ll be the Republican nominee. No way.

It seems wrong to choose anyone but Trump or Cruz, but I think they will.

Everybody can’t be that much younger than me. He has an impressive record. My point was that too many voters know nothing about candidates and just vote for a name they recognize or a party they support. Unlike most on this forum, they pay no attention to what is going on. Too many can’t tell you who their representative is or that the term "Congress encompasses both the House and the Senate.

I forget who, but I think someone here posted recently about Ben Carson saying there are Probably Better Choices Than Donald Trump. I finally got around to watching it.

My 2 cents: though I don’t agree with his endorsement of Trump, I think the media is making too much of his comment here. After all, he obviously wanted to be president himself, but ultimately accepted that he wasn’t getting enough votes and endorsed one of the remaining candidates.

The Republican establishment wants to use Cruz to keep Trump from getting enough votes to win the nomination out right . But they don’t want Cruz to be the nominee -he is a means to an end and that end is to get the only remaining establishment backed candidate nominated-Kasich
With all due respect, I disagree.

I think the establishment is resigned to Ted Cruz. Waving the white flag:

Graham: Trump or Ryan as nominee will destroy the GOP
South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham said he believes the Republican Party will end if it nominates either Donald Trump or House Speaker Paul Ryan.
Graham, a reluctant supporter of Texas Sen. Ted Cruz’s presidential bid, told CBS that Republicans need to unite behind Cruz to save the party.
“Let me say this, my Republican friends: If you parachute somebody in just on electability — Paul Ryan’s a wonderful guy, doesn’t want to be put in this position. I’m trying to get us the most viable nominee for 2016 that could win without destroying the party,” Graham said. “I think Trump destroys the party. And if you parachute somebody in, and try to ignore millions of votes, you’re going to destroy this party. So we’re right back to Ted.”
Asked how Republicans who dislike Cruz could support the Texas senator’s campaign, Graham said, “If I can do it, anybody can do it.”**

Graham is about as establishment as it gets. Bottom line, Trump will lose and if by some miracle he wins he is far from the GOP base, not that anyone even knows where he will land or if he can even do the job.

I am with Graham - Cruz is it, whether we like it or not.

And I like Cruz refusing to apologize to O’Connell or New York. Smart moves.

I think Cruz is actually not that bad. What I am realizing though is that the Trumpers won’t vote for him. (or vice versa) So, it’s down to Hillary or Bernie.

Diggin’ those New York values. I hope my children grow up to be just like that.

(sorry if this is offensive to anyone; I think it’s meant to be a display of New York toughness, pride, identity - something along those lines) It does put Trump tweets in context I have to admit. :o

I’m not offended by you posting the article at all, I’m not even offended about it being anti cruz, but using the statue of liberty like that? To me that is about the same as dragging the American flag through the mud. Not because it’s flipping off Cruz, but because of what this statue represents.
I’d say this article represents NY values pretty well, of course not all the NY people but NY politics in general which includes a majority of new Yorkers who elect the politicians.

Attempted Coup on Conservative Icon Phyllis Schlafly over Trump Endorsement

Back on Feb 8th, Cathie Adams was asked Phyllis Schlafly for her endorsement for Vice Chair of the Republican Party in Texas. Phyllis graciously gave Adams her endorsement.

Then in March Cathie Adams attacked Phyllis saying she was “manipulated” into endorsing Donald Trump.

Blacklisting anyone and everyone who supports trump, attacking them even if they have been your friend before. This has been the pattern of how some conservatives treat those who have endorsed trump.

Maybe this is a conservatism value: attack anyone who veers out of line and dares to endorse someone you don’t like.

So when trump is called hitler and his supporters called nazist, whose value is that? Can’t be NY values, right?

Maybe a conservatism value?
