Not unless Trump gets to 1,237 delegates, which is probably impossible.
Impossible? I’m not quite ready to say that yet!

But certainly Trump now has an uphill battle whereas, for most of the Republican primary, he has enjoyed the wind at his back!

That’s possible. But if that’s the case, quite a large chunk of the GOP won’t vote Republican in Nov.

Fortunately the chances of 1236, or 1230 or 1220, on the first ballot are extremely slim.
Things are certainly bending this way today!

So is Cruz.

And Cruz has run a dirty campaignbut it goes unnoticed for some reason.

Coordinating with Superpacs which they aren’t supposed to do.

And we know how he pulled the chair out from Carson.

Plus he lies every time I see him give s speech.
Cruz is a dirty dirty dog, I agree. But I am pretty well convinced that Trump can dig dirtier once he finally figures out what’s going on. Trump’s got a new man running the show, a man with some experience in the way our system actually works. We’ll see if this can save him!

Well, I think it is ok if gay people vote for Cruz, the GOP, right? In France, there were gay people who protested gay marriage. Identity politics is on the way out, be it women, minorities or gays. I think some gay people are actually conservatives.

Besides Cruz just said overturning gay marriage was not one of his top three priorities, which I am ok with. And he is still pushing religious liberty here - defending the rights of those who don’t agree with gay marriage on religious grounds in particular situations. All in all, I would call this pretty darn ‘New York values’ territory for Cruz - a plus.
Every Republican in the race is backing off of marriage equality battles. Republicans are many things but they are not stupid.

I’m all about allowing people who “don’t agree with gay marriage” to hoist their own petard, but I don’t believe that Cruz will hoist it for them as he slouches desperately towards the White House. (that’s not to say he won’t toss them a scrap or two and sound real principled while doing it)

I wonder why?

How embarrassing!

abcnews.go.com/Politics/trump-drop-majority-york-cruz-campaign-manager/story?id=38223811

Ted Cruz’s campaign manager is calling on GOP frontrunner Donald Trump to drop out of the race if he fails to clinch a majority in his home state primary later this month.

I suppose cruz is shamelessly staying in the campaign for very selfish reasons even though he only took 43.8% of Texas.
That’s just silly. But of course, Cruz is afraid of Trump. And, clearly, he should be.

Thanks, Tomdstone and Little Sheep. I really appreciate your kindness.

I’m a staunch Republican but I can’t stand Trump – all those"goofy" looks he puts on his face – I hope the Republicans find someone else to run for their party-- also I couldn’t vote for a Democrat a/c I’m very much pro-life and all of the Democrats seems to be pro-choice.

Okay, new to this thread, so this has probably been said before, but here we go:

Donald Trump is winning the Republican race because he knows how to sell himself. It’s what he has been doing for 40 years, through his various products and his TV show The Apprentice. He’s someone people who aren’t well-versed in politics already know, and he’s LOUD, so people who didn’t know him before definitely know him now.

He is also winning because he is tapping into a deep resentment that people have towards government in general. Donald Trump is an outsider; he has never held or run for political office before. His manner of speaking is almost exactly opposite that you would expect from most politicians, and his campaign platform is to tear down the old institutions and build them from scratch, as he says, making America great again. Incidentally, this movement isn’t isolated to the United States; the National Front in France is running on the same platform and has almost a third of France’s seats in the EU Parliament. Frankly, people are annoyed with politicians, and Donald Trump isn’t one.

Last, Donald Trump is winning because he is appealing to his specific subset of people and keeping them in his eyes. The relatively under-educated white male conservative faction is actually really powerful, though it may look small because they tend to stick to themselves (unless they’re attending Tea Party rallies or Sunday-go-to-meetin’.). This ideology of conservative nationalism is at least as old as the West and probably as old as America itself – after all, the Patriots wanted freedom from taxes and the right to make their own way of doing things, right? Isn’t that what people want anyway?

New Poll Out Of VA Shows Just How Bad Trump Is In General Election

redstate.com/jaycaruso/2016/04/07/va-poll-shows-how-bad-trump-is-general-election/

As this “Trump Train” motors on, things seem to get more bleak every time a new poll comes out. For months at a time, the negatives of Donald Trump bubbled just below the surface. It was out there and some people were noticing. The mainstream media was too busy tripping over itself to slobber over Trump to notice. But now it’s bubbled over and Trump’s negatives are exploding like Mount St. Helens. As Leon pointed out, Donald Trump’s unfavorable rating has reached 70%.

Didn’t they also believe Romney would win?

Didn’t they also believe Romney would win?
I heard a Trump supporter tonight say the party establishment is just using Cruz as a pawn to stop Trump and would not nominate Cruz. He said instead they would nominate Rubio, Ryan or Romney.
