You just want to drag me back into this I KNOW!I guess I missed where TMC said only republicans lie. I wouldn’t agree with that, but can you please show me where I missed that statement?
The truth hurts, TMC is correct. The republicans, especially the presidential candidates, say what the religious right want to hear and then you don’t hear much about until the next election. I do think at the state level, more has been done, and I have hopes Cruz or Rubio would do more for the pro-life cause. I never had much hope that Bush, McCain, or Romney would, neither do I have much hope Trump would. It may be hyperbole but no less offensive.
I still don’t see where he says only republicans lie.Quote:

I doubt many of Trump’s supporters support him because they believe he is strongly pro-life. They should just admit that they are taking that issue of the table this cycle, because that is what is happening.
See post #1580.
No, not at all. I am saying that politicians are liars. But you can look at their history and record to get some sense what they would actually do.OIC. Sorry for us all dragging that out of you.
So basically what you are actually saying is people are liars.
You didn’t miss it because he didn’t say that.I guess I missed where TMC said only republicans lie.
Mother Jones editor: "real question is, why would David Duke support Trump? Trump needs to answer that question. "I don’t like Trump but when MSNBC has the Washington editor from Mother Jones on to talk about his David Duke endorsement and it blows up in their faces it’s pretty hilarious:

Trump’s net worth – billions. Look on anchor’s face – PRICELESS!
That was great!! Clearly didn’t play into their agenda.I don’t like Trump but when MSNBC has the Washington editor from Mother Jones on to talk about his David Duke endorsement and it blows up in their faces it’s pretty hilarious:

I agree. I’m reminded of the way the crowd reacted when the judge entered the courtroom in Sommersby.I don’t like Trump but when MSNBC has the Washington editor from Mother Jones on to talk about his David Duke endorsement and it blows up in their faces it’s pretty hilarious:

I’m tired of the prooftexting. Trump wants to put ‘citizens’ first, not illegal immigrants. That is not racist nor bigoted. People seem to have forgotten that the US Govt is primarily responsible to care for US Citizens. We are not the World Govt.Mother Jones editor: "real question is, why would David Duke support Trump? How about this:
Why would Glenn Beck support Cruz? Glenn Beck said He’d stab Trump to death if they were close enough. Does Cruz need to answer this question?
The media is so crooked…
100s of abortion clinics have been shut down at the State level, that is hardly ignoring those issues.Oh, I have no doubt that Dems are equal opportunity liars. My specific comment related to the fact that for years the GOP has said whatever they think the religious right wants to hear, and then ignored those issues until the next election cycle. The Dems have their own version of that behavior, certainly.
Which of those clinics was closed by Mr. Trump? And which clinics were funded by Mr. Trump’s donations? Answer those two questions and we will be closer to understanding Trump’s position.100s of abortion clinics have been shut down at the State level, that is hardly ignoring those issues.
But this may well be conveniently overlooked if one is making a case and might have even a record of voting for politicians backing the atrocities of abortion, something I will never do.
Umm, why is it ok to take this guy’s word on Trump’s character from 50 years ago, but Trump’s appearances on Howard Stern, his bankruptcies, his pro-choice stance, his support of Democrat candidates, his marital infidelities etc, are not fair game because he’s conservative now?Man Who Lived With Trump 50 Years Ago Drops Bombshell TRUTH… “I Was Aghast”

“Of the 99 guys (no girls in those days) in our class, there is not one who I know who has a bad word to say about Donald Trump,” Ticktin wrote.
“Think of it. With all the jealousies which arise in high school and thereafter, with all the potential envy, not one of us has anything other than positive memories of this man. How could we? He was an ‘A’ student, a top athlete, and as a leader, he was highly respected. … He was never a bigot in any way, shape or form. He only hates those who hate. Of course he denounces the KKK.”
Ticktin said that Trump is still the Trump he sees today.
“People don’t really change much from the ages of 17 and 18, and I know this guy,” he wrote. “I know him to be a good decent guy. We lived and breathed an Honor Code in those years. It wasn’t just a rule. It was our way of life. Neither Donald, nor any other cadet who graduated with us would ever lie, cheat, or steal from a fellow cadet. These values became irreversibly intertwined in the fabric of our personalities, of who we are.”
Got you talking about it though.Umm, why is it ok to take this guy’s word on Trump’s character from 50 years ago, but Trump’s appearances on Howard Stern, his bankruptcies, his pro-choice stance, his support of Democrat candidates, his marital infidelities etc, are not fair game because he’s conservative now?
I see, he was a great teen, rebelled against himself for 40 + years and now when running for president, he’s back to his old self again.
I see.![]()
Indeed. I thought about starting a thread “Rubio v GOP”, but then I thought it would be a bit redundant since someone has already started a thread about the push for him to drop out.Yes. And the one who can deal the most effectively and ethically with the opposition party. What do we compromise on, what don’t we compromise on. Build consensus to the extent we can. Hold firm where necessary. Hold key conservative principles, positions.
There is a very odd sort of disconnect, alienation among the angry GOP base. It is a sign of weakness if you want to reach across the aisle or negotiate with anyone you disagree with. The Democrats are much more cognizant of the fact that they and the GOP have to find common ground on issues. The GOP just wants to annihilate everybody who disagrees with them. Period. The toughest, angriest candidates with the highest negatives are winning the primaries (weakest to run in the general). We are killing our strongest people and our prospects to win. Look at Rubio and Kasich.
