I’ve been to Xcaret. I swam the underground river, I was so nervous that a snake would be in the water.

I used to enjoy novelas, my grandparents watched them when I was a child, because it was easy for them to follow Spanish. I always love the last week of any particular novela. The villains get their punishment, and then the star crossed couple always has a lovely boda.
 
Theo, there is so much bad talk about Mexico and the citizens; especially from the Trump Administration. This is why I get the impression that we hate our neighbors.
 
Not entirely true. The Japanese are the least diverse people, genetically, on the planet; almost not at all.
And some of the more remote peoples are “racially pure” in terms of DNA characteristics.

I don’t pretend to be an expert. I only know what Mexicans tell me and what I read about Mexico.

Mexican life isn’t terrible, like it is in Haiti. Wages there are about 1/3 what they are here, but so is their cost of living. It’s a very oligarchic country, though, in which the rich pay even less taxes than American rich people do. Racial divisions are very sharp. If you notice, the soap opera characters are very “white”. So are their political leaders. Those people tend to be on the top of the heap. Most Mexicans are “mestizo”, though, or mixed, and show it. At the bottom are the “Indios” (Indians). The political system is very corrupt, from top to bottom, and drug cartels control much of it.

For most Mexicans, coming here is not a matter of avoiding starvation. They’re not starving. It’s a matter of earning more money and money that has stable value and a high exchange rate with their own. Lots and lots of them earn money here for a time, then go back to Mexico and live better than their neighbors or buy assets.

Central America is different. It’s largely very primitive. People aren’t starving to death there either, but for many or most it’s hand-to-mouth.

We have drugs, crime, & rapists. Some of us are good people. Why are they so hated?

I don’t think they are. There aren’t a lot of Hispanic immigrants in my part of the country, but nobody seems to care. Some of them mix with the locals, and some don’t. Mexicans, in particular, seem to “go American” fairly quickly. Possibly in some very large, very Hispanic places, they’r’e a people unto themselves. That might be resented, since Americans do expect immigrants to integrate, not stay in enclaves.

Central Americans are regarded a bit differently because of MS-13. There are Mexican gangs too, but none are as dramatic as MS-13.
 
I did not say they’re anyone to emulate. I’m just saying they’re very non-diverse genetically; possibly the most that way in the world other than some isolated primitive tribes here and there.
 
The US like all sovereign nations has a right to protect its borders. It also has a right to expect foreigners to respect its laws. Australia and Canada have quite stringent laws about admitting immigrants. A prospective immigrant should be able to demonstrate they will be able to impact their future country in a beneficial way.

I also do not understand this appeal to emotions. Yes these Hondurans are people in need of help but there are other ways to help other than to let them violate our immigration laws.

Neighbor or not, you do not let strangers into your house uninvited do you?
 
I love Mexico too. As soon as we’re fixed and I’m President, they’ll join us.
 
Yes if a neighbor who I had seen had moved in by me and knocked on my door before I had a chance to introduce myself first and to welcome them, I’d invite them in.
 
Good, take them into your own home, at your own expense and assume vicarious liability for any crimes they commit.

The genocide of your race? Be serious. History has shown us what genocide looks like. You’re hardly a Lithuanian Jew in, say, 1939. Or a Cambodian intellectual in the days of the Khmer Rouge.

What if they did not knock and politely introduce themselves but instead came on in while you were gone and helped themselves to your property? Would that still be okay?

Right if I knew they had moved into my neighborhood and they were uninvited and knocked, I’d let them in to introduce myself. No one is gone.
 
Armed force is not the only way to effect a conquest. I wish it was, allegiances would be clear
