Is this not the Trump’s Last Line of Defense thread? That would make Trump the topic under discussion.
But on CAF, since when does than mean the Clintons and Obamas can’t be brought up. 😉

A government healthcare program brought to you by Democrats.
It is an excellent program but my mother is 74 and she pays for a medicare supplement plan because medicare doesn’t of course pay for all expenses. She pays 90.00 a month for this. That to her is a lot of money to add on top of the money she’s paid into the system

She is blessed she says to have the money to pay for this plan so given this plan and Medicare she pays next to nothing in health expenses.

I wish health care wasn’t so expensive and that we can find some solution to this issue no matter who comes up with a good plan Democrats or Republicans or better yet both together. (That might be when hell freezes over though).

I didn’t say I liked it. I still have to pay $134 for plan B. I have another supplemental
plan that has very high deductibles. Many doctors will only take so many medicare
patients or none at all. So it is not that great. I would prefer having private insurance
and not having the government involved.

I am not sure what you mean by the money she paid into it. Could you explain?

Perhaps this is the basic problem: people want health care at essentially no cost for themselves, but begrudge that anyone else it getting this.

Yes, my mother states she is very fortunate because we live in a University town with a Teaching Hospital so doctors taking Medicare patients are easy to find.

Many are not so fortunate.

Mary.

So do it. And I hope you get the doctor you want.

I agree, Mary. My mother was just about 90 when she died and my sister who is quite a bit older than me is on Medicare now. So I am familiar with similar experiences. I only mentioned Medicare along with the Democrats because my friend here from AZ speaks often about them today and I was just trying to lighten things up a bit. On a serious note, hopefully though we don’t have to wait that long. Although I did just say today on another thread it has been 241 yrs since the country declared its independence and all of us are going to be dead or the Lord may come again and the world as we know it may come to an end, and we still won’t have caring for the sick figured out at this rate.

Or it may not. Just 6 mos in he is holding IA, OH, WV. But is at least 7 pts underwater in AZ, GA, TX. And at least 9 pts underwater in MI, PA, WI. The 2020 map may look quite a bit different.

The President’s polling numbers are a bit besides the point, since they only count on the day people cast votes, and that is* if* he seeks re-election, which (who knows? he isn’t exactly predictable) he may not choose to do. The Presidency is an extremely restrictive life for someone of his means, he and Melania have Barron to think about, and so who knows.

The more immediate question is how the members of Congress seeking re-election in 2018 are doing with their constituents. The President’s life will get even harder if he loses ground on that front, even if the GOP does not lose their majority outright.

If Trump blames others for the GOP lack of motion in Congress and he gets fewer members of his own party re-elected, he will have shot himself in his own foot. The blame game will not help him or the GOP, whether they have a legitimate case or not. They need to find a way to give the center of the electorate the feeling that it is a new day in Washington under Trump, not more of the same only worse.

I don’t have a 15 year old son for one thing! :whacky:
LOL!

This is like a person listening to a homily of the Prodigal Son thinking, well, I’ve never longed to eat what pigs eat so this can’t be about me.

"And he longed to eat his fill of the pods on which the swine fed, but nobody gave him any."–Luke 15

In most cases, yes. It’s when you need longer-term care that you may have to resort to Medicaid. Medicare pays 100% for the first 20 days and 80% up to 100 days.

You can also get a long-term insurance policy but that would work best if you have tons of assets, which you would need anyway to afford the premiums. 🙂

I would count you among the blessed, 7 Sorrows. Many people would still prefer having any insurance at all for $134 even if it meant a limited choice of doctors. My niece was without insurance. She suffers from chronic severe back pain. I’ve seen her in tears not even able to put a pair of shoes on. This year she was able to enroll in Obamacare. With a subsidy her premium is $115 mo and her deductible is so low that she met her deductible in no time. Right now she is trying shots. She just recently had a third one. But the neurologist she sees says surgery and all the post surgery therapy that comes with it may be in her future. Which would be out of the question if not for Obamacare. I drove her to her primary because she is unable to drive due to the pain and her copay was 5 bucks. She is one of the blessed as well who has been helped by Obamacare. She knows it needs improvement but she certainly did not want to see it repealed.
