I don’t know. The only person in our lifetimes who sought no reelection was LBJ, but that was because of the massive number of protests because of Vietnam among other things.

Trump was having problems with getting anyone to lend him money and his Manhattan holdings were losing him over a billion $ last year. So the Presidency was actually the best thing that happened to him. Isn’t that obvious? 🙂

The more immediate question is how the members of Congress seeking re-election in 2018 are doing with their constituents. The President’s life will get even harder if he loses ground on that front, even if the GOP does not lose their majority outright.

If Trump blames others for the GOP lack of motion in Congress and he gets fewer members of his own party re-elected, he will have shot himself in his own foot. The blame game will not help him or the GOP, whether they have a legitimate case or not. They need to find a way to give the center of the electorate the feeling that it is a new day in Washington under Trump, not more of the same only worse.

That’s what happened with my oldest sister. Due to a slowly progressing disease over decades, eventually she could not walk or swallow and had to go into a nursing home. She passed earlier in the year. But wasn’t one the concerns about the GOP plans this year before the skinny one, was the Medicaid cuts in the percentage of its growth and how it could impact the elderly in future yrs?

Also, are you saying that all the OT references to the suffering servant are not prophecies of the suffering and humiliated Savior dying on the cross for you and me?

I don’t think Christ was embarrassed or shamed (as it relates to this thread), you are welcome to your opinion though.

How do you define “humiliate”?

You may be half right but “in the eyes of others”…he was humiliated, but not in his one eyes. And probably not ashamed, but embarrassed by his nakedness on the cross - yes.

He was humiliated by a death on a tree.

To deny this is to deny Scripture and the entirety of the kerygma.
 
I’m not comparing the murder of Christ with Trump’s tweets.
But go there if you want to, alone.

Great. Now you may why we create programs like Medicare and Medicaid and the ACA, so that people who aren’t rich are still covered for healthcare costs.

And I hope that you will understand that such programs should be available to others.

I paid taxes for 50 years before I got medicare.
 
I appreciate the thrust of the thread, but honestly, it’s pointless. Trump has his diehard 35%, and they’re not going anywhere. If anyone can look at Trump’s first six months and not find him staggeringly incompetent and juvenile, it’s because they’ve decided not to see it. It’s a choice. Trump could drop his pants in the Rose Garden and start communicating via his butt cheeks like Ace Ventura and within ten minutes 35% of the country would be telling each other, “Isn’t it great how he’s shaking up those stuffy Washington types? Such a fresh, innovative approach!”

They have as close to “full control” as you’re likely to find in the American system of government. The Presidency + Congress is about as good as any party can hope for.

Obviously, there’s someone who *was *publicly humiliated who did nothing wrong.

No Christian ought to be making assertions that if you’ve been humiliated then you’ve done something wrong.
